  1. You either meet the requirements and do it by the established steps/numbers or you're basically wasting your time. So you are saying the happenings in November will be a waste of time?
  2. I remember people saying that about freeflying, before it became VRW. It was recognition and competition that created the current interest in vRW. Exactly, venture a guess from successfully pestering the nationals to include FF in competition from the time of its creation? And then how many years to the current state of VRW after that. And I'm not saying its a worthy venture just that I'm not going to boohoo the hard work organizers and participants are doing trying to get their record attempts flowing. While some organizers mope others have racked up some serious air miles and put a great deal of effort into this thing. Any way you slice it the contribution is good for wingsuits.
  3. Those lines have a relay that auto closes within a few cycles of a sensed fault just incase its just a bird frying and then stays off locked out until the fault is investigated.
  4. It is high for most CRW, including big way but its not for competition. Its one reason the Storm was designed. I believe the teams that have them are able to load them as high as 2:1 and do. The world champions are on triathalon 99s or were. This loading up for competition has led a california team to re-develop the FX into a dacron lined CRW canopy that can be loaded well beyond 2:1
  5. Its not just the loading. Trust me, I've borrowed many many loaner lightnings. The condition of the canopy, the age, which line trim is installed and its age and condition play a part also. If you look close enough to some lightnings skin you can see distortion wear from having it wrap a foot and then hanging 200 pounds of meat from that single point of stress. Lightnings that have been around a while tend to have individual personalities. Find a good one and its a keeper. I own two of them one is the good cop and one is the bad.
  6. As a side, When did Glen become the "Official Gay" monitor??? I will see if I can find a nice Rainbow pin for you the next time I see you Scott C. I remember when the FAI first recognized "vertical" skydiving. Four young ladies from perris did a back pack exit held it for few thousand feet with photo evidence and bam they had the first womens free fly world record. That was cute. But you must admit that if a handfull of chumps claim their FAI recognized whatever way as the worlds first simply because its recognized then that would be gay, unless of coarse its larger. Wingsuit competition hosted at the national level is a very long way off. Most jumpers could care less. But its silly to say I'm not going to participate in large focks because they won't be officially FAI recognized. We'll be flying tight 200 ways way before the other things happen. And to Scott don't you have a rainbow pin in your queen ann armoir or in the glove box of your miata convertible?
  7. You know what is going to happen...?.... 71 wingsuiters are going to get something done, then in a season or two 100 plus. It will all be photographed by different pros. It will be all over all of the skydive mags. Then way later the fAI will get off of their stroopkeisters and will formally recognize a 25 way. It will be official. it will be international and it will be gay! Officially GAY!
  8. A baker from Gouda baked a waffle of old crumbs and spices and filled this waffle with syrup. The Stroopwafel was born. In fact the Stroopwafel was a rest product. And therefor a popular pastry among the poor. Good recipes are very difficult to find and even if a good recipe is found, then there is a tremendous amount of specialized equipment needed to bake a proper Stroop Wafel. Do the poor have easier access to specialized equiptment than the rest of the folks?
  9. If we want the wing suit discipline to move forward, then official recognition is part of the solution (as for all the other skydiving disciplines). K then what is up with our trusted FAI? What is there hold-up? Is it world record season deadline? Are these guys so inept that the UN can kick there ass with one hand while they munch strupwaffles with the other? Isn't the $35 FAI record per applicant license fee motivation enough? Or does the de-valuation of the dollar just not get you enough strupwaffles in Lilliputnstein or whereever the FAI is headquartered in?
  10. I could give a rats ass about a record that no one will remember or care about in a years time as there is no governing body who will ratify it or even officially recognize it within skydiving. There are pictures of 400 linked skydivers, 100 linked canopy pilots do think its the FAI that makes these special? Do you think the participants don't fondly remember being there? I wasn't on either but remember both. If we have a few photos of a wingsuit formation with specified proximity and a side shot to verify everyone is on plane but don't have the Fai to back us up its meaningless? This negativity isn't typically like you Lou, What has you down, primary sponsor focusing on mall clothes instead of wingsuits? Factory team forced to look for a new factory? Not enough camps to harvest enough talent? Weak registration interest? And as far as that rumor about calling snore in regards to wingsuits and lakes tell em not to worry about the wing fallers worry about the CRW dogs some of us are wearing 22 pounds of lead. But I guess if you can't steer away from a mile long lake you shouldn't be doing wingsuits or CRW. And to all of you FAI huggers out there remember Craig Breedlove broke the super sonic land speed record not Andy Green!
  11. Then why not jump a classic on those flocks? These record attempts will probably have 3 or more acros, will that suffice?
  12. It depends, the power of the flare s dependant on the design not just the fact that it is a seven cell. As an example I'm having a hell of a time on a 7 cell pd lightning at a loading of 1.7. If it was spectre or a storm or even a triathalon it might not be so hard or should I say a little more forgiving. Trim and line age and wear play a role also. man, many factors to consider. The age of the design is a biggy.
  13. Access? Xtra Small? XS as in X-crosscountry S-suit, non-stop even.
  14. Glens testing facility has fecal matter in it as well.... Test show its not my matter its from the lab rats in the lab rat ory.
  15. Only in speakers corner, in the bonfire he is just an other asshole like the rest of us.........
  16. the .09% still stands however. I want my next BM skyflyer to go to eleven!
  17. Ultra high performance wingsuits are the new black. Besides its a BM S6 which isn't twice the performance of the S3, which is miss leading, its only got .09% more performance than the three in independant labratory tests.
  18. Its not just tracking. It is also being comfortable and symmetrical while wearing a suit that will magnify your sensations of wind resistance and lift. Feedback and response sensitivity has to be re-calibrated by your brain, all of this on your very first jump. Although typically its very easy and results are quiet good even very skilled skydivers on occasion with many times the minimum recommended experience scare them selves to never come back again. Your mileage may vary. And here is the kicker, nobody can swoop down and save you if you mess up real bad. Then there is winds aloft and navigation issues. Two things that the average wingsuiter typically doesn't have to worry about but can be the worst enemy of the unskilled wingsuiter.
  19. I have a rig that was custom made and one that had the harness adjusted ... no difference in any way ... except the cost Carefull some resizing costs can add up if the rigger/ manufacturer has to do major disassembly. Its still worth it for the comfort but be aware of the costs is all.
  20. Whats wrong with purple?
  21. I don't know anything about the altitrack but that second picture is SHAKAZULU!
