Nice vid Jarno Two questions: 1. Are dabbling in HD? 2. Why no footage of the "too fast for purple Mike " flocks?

The correct tool is a "tapered reamer." Indispensable in my shop, particularly for helmet work and Fiberglas. That correct tool costs from $30~100, I've got a few sizes here too. The alternate tool I mentioned is probably already in the drawer and therefore free for those that don't have a "shop" and just need to ream one hole. Works real good too!
-
You may try to use an undersized drill bit and then with the tail or handle of a file carefully ream out to a superb fit by twisting it with you hand. Drills don't cut perfectly round holes anyway and reaming it will allow you to sneak up on it without overdoing it.

Only the lastest upgrades of anything from apple actually support AVCHD. In the case of FCE the only difference in the latest upgrade @$100 is that support. Voltaic uncompresses AVCHD into a quicktime 7 file. Which can be worked with older editing systems. There is also a version for windows so you are not forced to use vegas 8. Although there maybe way more options in a just a little time.

i'm talking about people sub-100 jumps. dont think its too funny then, is it!? Don't be so sensitive. I'm not picking on you. BTW the words reputable wingsuit instructor are a riot all by themselves. Anything about wingsuit instructors is always funny, regardless of jump numbers.

I've never understood the numbers associated with military units
VectorBoy replied to birdlike's topic in The Bonfire
You might want to get up to speed a bit. Dude, I'm retired Air force. I know a lot of killed airmen from drinking too much and or freezing in northern tier assignments during the cold war. And those two last lines I stole from a navy recruitment commercial spoof floating around you tube that pokes fun at the army. Get some speed and look it up. Its major funny. -
Hypothetical.... Your under canopy....
VectorBoy replied to ToTheTop's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It depends on the canopy, how you are loading it and your ability to perform a rear riser flare to completion. Have you practiced it? -

VectorBoy replied to birdlike's topic in The Bonfire
Just as long as it's not the Air Force... *runs away* Why not the Air Force? They can practically guarantee you won't get killed,.... unless you party too hard. And their girls bathe every day. -
and am amazed how different standards are applied to people for being good friends to reputable wingsuit-instructors, or not. You have no idea how funny this comment is do you?

All of the latest mac movie apps now support AVCHD, to what extent I couldn't tell you. But they all say you must have the newer models with intel processors. If you own a power PC G4 or what Might have been a banging G5 movie system you are not going to play. For those systems Voltaic HD will uncompress AVCHD to a very large quicktime file. You also loose the 5.1 sound in this transition. They have a demo to see if it will work on your system or not before you buy.
-
'Specially one that has it's ass ripped into shreds from butt-first landings. Hasn't that old one been retired recently? Hey P Mike what are you on now Phantom or a new V3?
-
It appears that apple is starting to support AVCHD with new editing software for their modern intel machines, no luck for the older power pc macs though. Enter voltaic HD. Which converts AVCHD to a file that the older macs play with nicely. I would have already downloaded the demo for a test but don't yet have an AVCHD camera and won't for a while if I have to upgrade a system first to edit in AVCHD. Just curious about its functionality and limitations. They say there is no loss of quality but warn its a memory hog as it is uncompressing AVCHD into an HD quicktime of about 4 times the size. Those demands on RAM might just rule out all but the fastest power PC units.

That will make you look like Rosie O'Donald in exit to eden.

August 27/30 - ToraTora.nl Freefly and Wingsuit Boogie
VectorBoy replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I got a fleet of those kinds of hummers while I was there and they all came with nice rims if you know what I mean. I'm talking about the H2/ glorified chevy truck hummers. -

VectorBoy replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
We're also just doing it for the free jumps. Not for a set of golden rims on our Hummers. ... I only have one question. Do you actually have hummers over there, anywhere over there? -
Yes " this is not a record, repeat not a record" Stadium PA voice off.

The vampire is the mostest highest performance unpowered folding airplane. It has forward speeds that will peel your ears off. It is strictly for the most capable wingsuit pilots ( and me). Its performance almost requires an astronautics license. Lucky for me I have both. If your peers believe you to be dangerous as deadly to others and yourself you must first perform vampire solo flights. Preferably in a secret wingsuit testing location in the desert. Preferably with ground telemetry, video and stills will cost extra. Stay away from all living things and don't hit anything on the plane...... those parts are expensive. Did my advice help?
-
Nothing wrong with you. You are a generous soul. You just want to reach out and touch someone......while under canopy.

Can't wait to see it. For now what we got is two 16 ways, east coast recognizing west's coast's and visa versa. Can't wait to see Europe's and Africa's and Zealand's/ Australia's 16-way regional records. Would love to see anything record-ish from the "we are too fast for purple mike" formationistas but they sound tooo fast for modern photo methods. So fast they are supa- sonic. Dripping with anticipaton for anything along the nature of all female wingsuit record BTW. You go girls! I will recognize any and all of the above. No need for a $35 record FAI license. After all do you think those cheap bastards at NASA paid the $35 fee for the license or paid an FAI judge to be at mission control to have the space shuttle formally recognized as the fastest space-plane...... nope. But it is biotch!

Funny, Chris told me I should be under a Xaos-21 with my wingsuit. I would love a Xaos just not with my wingsuit.
-
Now I'm dissapointed that I haven't taken a GPS on more jumps. Be happy with the 1000 +, GPS would just confirm you've been flying in circles.
-
For some reason, the vision of flying 1000 miles in a wingsuit just brought a smile to my face. Thanks Glen!

Yup err99 is a catch all for a bunch of issues. My XT has currupted two CF cards for no reason. Its shooting and storing fine one second and then it just freezes up, locked out, CF card and all contents gone for ever. Display says err99.
-
It may be the contacts between the body and lens at least on canon board claims it as an err99 symptom. Can be cleaned with a pencil eraser.

Not everybody knows that the 100 way canopy formation was performed twice. After the record they made some personnel changes to get as many qualified people in on the record. The second time around one or two of the grips were not FAI perfect. The canopy was there touching but it was wrong hand or foot or line kind of rule violation. So that second formation wasn't official. But if you ask jumpers from the second jump that were there it was a 100 way to them. Very few people could tell the official/un-official pictures apart. Both look great blown up to poster size. On a calender, screen saver...... on a t-shirt.
