  1. I believe he'll get his girls a dog, which is SWEET! Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  2. Well, thank goodness. I mean it'd be nice if we had one, but I feel better about racking my brain all morning (when the question also occurred to me first thing out of bed) and remaining stumped all day. Like others, I have had awful visions. But, that's not unusual for me. Often when I pull out into a busy street--despite have looked in all directions first--I have this brief image of another car plowing into the side of mine at 55 mph. I have a lot of moments like that. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  3. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  4. That's not redneck; that's digusting. Redneck would be letting your Frosted Flakes soak too long in your whole milk and slurping the sugary, soggy, grossness. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  5. It does, and in that case, it is definitely redneck. Seriously. I like me a $10 bottle of Mondavi pinot noir with pistachios--shelled. Whatup? Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  6. Oops, forgot my smiley in that post. I meant to add: I've always said, a smiley makes all the difference. Though, with encouragement I've tried really hard to forgo them in this forum. See, right there I could have just added a face. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  7. Actually, that wasn't my first thought w/r/t your response. I'm not often wrong. I like you. I'm a Gator, but lucky for you the only thing that annoys me about 'noles' fans is that fucking chant and their WAY easier (ACC = Almost Competitive Conference) schedule. It's Tennessee fans that are seriously off their rockers. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  8. Yowza. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  9. I, too, am alarmed. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  10. Fair enough. In many (most?) cities, medians are considered a right-of-way (like that little grassy space between the road and the sidewalk--also a no-no for signs) and even in cities that have rather lax restrictions on advertisement & campaign signs, medians are still a no-no. I suspect most people don't know or care since no-one knows anyone who has ever been charged with the crime of posting a sign in a median. In any event--if it meant that much to me--I'd be more inclined to get creative and have a little fun with the sign-stealers than I would complain about their tactics. Come on, Bill, it's kinda funny they used your same frame. Get downright hilarious on their asses. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  11. So is putting them in medians. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  12. You forgot "measuring" and "drapes". Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  13. Like you did when your signs were "stolen". SO defeatist. Nobody puts signs out for anything expecting they'll remain there--much less get them back--unless that person has never put out signs for anything before. Those "in the know" might bring a step stool, a hammer and nail, and position the sign out of arm's reach on a wooden utility pole located near almost every major intersection and McDonald's. You've already admitted to putting signs in medians anyways. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  14. You're funny. I thought it sounded whiney, too. Your offbeat interludes have certainly jazzed the thread up a bit, though. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  15. Yeaaa, no not the same imo. Rights, benefits, whatever--There is a big difference between allowing six people the right not to testify against one-and-the-same spouse and allowing six spouses to visit their shared-spouse in the hospital (Hospital rooms are small & cramped as it is!). I'm passing out cookies to all the heteros and homo Harry wants one too, so I give him one. Now poly Paul wants four cookies because I gave Harry one just like I gave everyone else? I appreciate your position and you're correct I haven't really thought too much about the right of polygamists to marry multiple (adult) partners. My initial thoughts are I'd be fine with it so long as their "rights" and "benefits" were equal to (and not exceeding) every other marriage. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  16. That's an interesting question. Early man used the furs of the animal he killed primarliy for its meat as clothing. Eventually fur became fashion, and animals were killed primarily (and only) for their pelts. My guess is ignorance became fashionable a long, long time ago. And, imo, it still reins supreme in all (and because of) extremes. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  17. I just read this in my Best Friends magazine and it reminded me of your thread: "Dogs find human yawns contagious, suggesting they have a rudimentary capacity for empathy, British scientists say. Although yawning is widespread in many animals, contagious yawning--a yawn triggered by seeing others yawn--has previously only been shown to occur in humans and chimpanzees...with 72 percent of 29 dogs tested yawning after observing a person doing so..." In related news, when I was a little girl and first started liking boys, I used to purposefully yawn to see if they were looking at me as I'd suspected. If they yawned soon after, I had my answer. 18. I always loved Nerds. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  19. There's this story about a mom who was bathing her young boy when he looked down at his balls and said, "Mom, are these my brains?" "Not yet." she replied. I got 17/20. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  20. I figured that. But, I haven't yet been called by anyone representing the McCain campaign. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  21. I understand that. Right! I'm in bed between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. EST. I'm up at 4:30 a.m. As for my cell phone, I don't get it. I'm on the cell "do not call" registry. We haven't had a landline for six years. But, I'm always kind to telemarketers. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  22. I'm outraged by this as well. To answer your question: I've always argued if you want the "good", you must understand that "bad" will come with it. Thus if one views the "bad" as more important to prevent than the "good" that might/will come of something, there lies your answer. Having said that, this is a good question for me. I would need to know what exactly you mean to answer. What flaw or potential/proposed flaw in the system (there is more than one, imo) are you referring to? Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  23. Surely you've then also heard of Prop 2 (Florida) and Prop 102 (Arizona). I wish I'd saved the flyer I received in the mail insisting I vote YES on Prop 2. It was really hilarious. It assured me it was OK because domestic partnerships would still be allowed for the "sole reason they are inferior to a real marriage" or something like that. As a sidenote, it's particularly interesting being a registered Independent and seeing the difference in mailers I receive than my hunny, a registered Republican. I know McCain's campaign is totally negative and we just can't stand that, but I must receive 10 negative flyers about McCain from the Obama campaign to every one I receive the other way around. Weird. OTOH, Obama campaigners are the only ones who've reached out and wanted to talk, calling me on my cell phone at 9 p.m. It makes me feel special. No one else ever phones at that hour wanting to sit up and chat. Anywho, I'm also for NO on Props 8, 2 & 102. I wish I had the life of a "YES"er campaigner as they clearly have no more important concerns in this election. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  24. Is there an "end program" error coming up when you try to shut your computer down? Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  25. You have two questions and the latter is what has mostly been addressed. To the former ("Does the media cause a sway in voting?"): YES! To the latter ("Do you think that constantly reporting polls...?"): A bit, but not nearly as much as the former in general. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
