I'm pissed about that, too. Really pissed. But, I agree with Gawain, ultimately. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

We do, but we could do a lot more. I guess I've just always been of the mindset if it's at all questionable, we'll evacuate. I have no desire to ride out a hurricane. I don't see the point, really--especially not with pets. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Ditto. In the interest of full disclosure, I'm a registered Independent but tend to vote Republican. I also consider myself a Christian. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. -
I've been guilty of that here once before. It's funny what you discover sometimes about other people through chain emails. I rarely--if ever--forward them on. But, ironically on a couple occasions I've posted one on DZ.com. I didn't check the only one I posted in SC, even though I always check political emails. It didn't even occur to me because the person it came from usually never forwards on emails, is fairly trustworthy and is someone I consider very intelligent. It was a good lesson, if you think about it. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Once in a blue moon we go to this amazing, local pizza place. They make these sugar-powdered bread thingies--not like a donut. But it's a non-sweet airy bread with a raspberry dipping sauce. Anywho, I always order them but ask them come with the pizza. I always get a funny look. But, that's just how I roll. I've never been a desert kinda girl, but if I do I have to have it with or before the main course. The last time we went the waitress laughed when I ordered and said her grandpa does that, too.

I haven't had ice cream in a long time but... Buttery-popcorn on vanilla-bean ice cream. I love sweet & salty together. It's nothing new or odd, but I find most people I know don't (knowingly) care for this combo. Yet, these people love BBQ sauce which is essentially sugar-syrupy crap mixed with a little worcestershire sauce. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

I like her. She looks like a school-teacher. The kids are gonna love it. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Pick the one you like most from among these songs

I like you. Edit: I picked "Cumbersome" BTW, but frankly I'm not a huge fan of any of the above. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. -
You are . It's fine because Sabre has already scratched a hole in the side of couch despite a beautiful cedar & sisal scratching post located two feet away. But, I digress... I thank God, though, the couch is the only evidence we have animals. I keep a clean, tight ship. And thankfully Sabre doesn't scratch on anything else. Cruzer has a plethora of chew toys and merely devours a pair of socks once in a while. And none of them sleep on anything else...except the alternative-down comforter on the bed. Yea, and in my closet. Sabre likes to lay on my clothes I've recently worn, folded and placed on top of the dresser in my closet. But other than that... Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Mine is from Harry Potter, too! I was never interested in Harry until recently. I thought: Harry's a huge part of pop-culture and I've nothing better to do at the moment... And in the meantime, a certain someone's sig-line (in addition to yours ) rang a bell. So, I chose one too because...well, everyone else was doing it. I've enjoyed all my sig lines--previous & current.
-
Yup. The couch is "Cruzer's bed". At first we told Cruz, "No!" He'd be there when we'd return from going out and jump down as soon as we opened the door. Then it was just when we'd left the room. Now he doesn't bother moving... even if we want to sit, too! He goes running two miles every morning. He goes sniffing at least a mile every evening. He goes to dog park. He goes to doggie day-care and plays all day. He sleeps IN BED despite all efforts. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

So a woman said today... I'm a big animal-welfare activist & supporter. I can see plenty of instances in which this statement would ring true, however, I couldn't help but think of my own pets... all of which whom have their own way of telling me when they want out and when they want in. I just heard Sabre (one of our kitties) scratch at the back door and found myself running to let him in. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

I stayed once in this supposedly really nice hotel and the A/C was effing LOUD. I mean--come on!--it made no sense. I can feel when it's cool and when it's not. I do NOT need to hear it, retardos. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

What annual income puts you among "The Rich"?

Umm. I see both sides of this fence. We adopted Cruz three years ago. And beforehand we'd always be walking on the beach and see these dogs running free--but totally staying close to their person--and having fun and not overly excited by another dog or person. And, we'd people running in the early mornings (like us) and their dog ahead or following and unleashed. Cruz has never really liked being on a leash--he obeys, and we're not against it, but ideally we don't want to leash him ever. He's gotten pretty good at staying near us off-leash. But, he still gets really excited when he sees other dogs. He is friendly, but other people don't appreciate it sometimes. OTOH, there was the sweetest pit bull roaming the streets the other day and he--of course--ended up following us home from our walk with Cruz. He drank a ton of water and allowed us to pet him and even allowed Zoe' (one of our kitties) to rub all up on him before I could grab her (not knowing his temperament with kitties). We found the dog's owner, but I knew--unfortunately--a pit bull wandering the streets would probably be subject to potentially harmful things inflicted by fearful people. I was angry the owners had just let him out all willy-nilly. They weren't even worried. I'm thinking--it's a pit bull! I don't think they weren't worried because they didn't love the dog (he was healthy and seemed happy), but come on! To let your dog roam and not keep a watchful eye--and it being a pitbull at that--I was NONE too pleased. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

No. I didn't think then, nor do I now, we should invade Iraq. I'm happy Saddam is gone. I don't think we should pull out now all willy-nilly. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Also, whilst I'm in bitch-mode I have to say--and this is not directed at you DX--college shouldn't be something you can just go to because you "wanted to". You can go to the library because you want to. Why don't you? Why would you want to go to college vs. a library? I want things every day. I don't get the majority of them because obviously I didn't want them bad enough to do whatever I needed to (within my morals and the law), to get them. A lot goes into running a university--who is supposed to fund that? Am I supposed to fund people going just because they woke up one day and wanted to? Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

On one hand, I agree--and I realize it's [what you said] the noble thing to say, but I'll go ahead and be the cold-hearted bitch and say: A lot of people at 18 don't know what they want to do. They don't go to college because they "have to", and neither because they "want to", but rather because they don't know what they need or want and they're still figuring it out. I knew what I wanted for as long as I can remember: To help animals, and to have my own house at the beach. Money isn't always a "bad" motivator. I can work toward my dream house and still help animals because I have the time/money to do both. College certainly helped with that advantage. Again, while I agree, there is SO much opportunity in scholarships. There is probably a scholarship for those whose second toe is longer than their big toe. I mean--all it takes is a little research. I'm not saying it's that easy. But, work hard in high-school and you're likely to get some to a LOT of help. I'm fortunate my father would have paid, but instead I got a full ride. I could have coasted through, but instead I studied a bit "because I wanted to"--It's a little ironic your response started with that but ended with how expensive it [can] be. If you want to work hard, then you'll earn and/or find ways to keep the cost down. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Married Couples - Have you ever Seen your partner..
PLFXpert replied to Unstable's topic in The Bonfire
We've pee'd together (i.e. shared a bathroom when the women's room had a line like you wouldn't believe), but never seen that. We both turn on the water faucet if it gets particularly eventful. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. -
I thought it might be then (I'm 28, now) and my elders insisted it wasn't and thus I finished. I thought it was easy. And then it became more difficult and I made it easy (no, not by cheating). I get it now what "those people" were talking about. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

This is exactly what I meant previously when I said: My hunch is that we should be able to mathematically determine things like "free will" and thus we can create a mind. My problem with that position, however, is--well, it just seems too easy. I want to believe there's more to it all than that, I guess. Also, it seems to me writing an algorithm for "free will" is one thing, but understanding how the entire mind and all its working algorithms work together is another. The latter for me, except if after "C". Look--call me not "truly skeptical" or an "African-American"--it doesn't matter. I'd like to see proof before belief--and for most things I require such. But, if I (and others) did not believe some things were possible w/out proof, than what motivation would anyone have to "discover" anything new? But, I digress. My question was whether or not any previous responder's believe a "mind" can be "created" (again, except for producing an infant--of course.) Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
