If it's cute, it always fits, hunny. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Is it your position I'm not a skeptic, or are you just making a broad statement for the benefit of everyone? Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

A bit. Admittedly, I'm a believer in possibilities. Having said that, I don't believe magicians teleport themselves (or anything else) out of the water tank whilst shackled or even whilst not shackled. Whatever. I've simply conceded I believe telekinesis possible. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

What is it you think I mean? While I do enjoy purposeful ambiguity, I wasn't trying to here. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

I'm not into parlor tricks or illusion. But, I do believe telekinesis is possible. It is not only possible, but we are doing it--with help [for now] perhaps but... Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Hmmm. You would probably know better than I, but I'm thinking physics. I'm thinking "imagination". People can move artificial limbs with their mind--with their thoughts w/out moving muscles. What am I missing? If the mind has no energy to transfer, than why do "we" spend [a lot?] of money on studying moving objects with the mind? Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

To what extent, though? (I'm asking, not questioning.) I can see what you mean as relative to robotics, but not to humans (which is what I'm talking about). Perhaps that's what you mean by: I would disagree we're "on the verge", but I do think it probable our minds' processes can be computed. And by that I mean I think it probable we can deduce our minds' processes to mathematics and create a computer "mind" that thinks and "acts" just as a human would. Having said that, I have trouble comprehending the "energy" aspect of the mind. I can't imagine a computer or other "non-living" thing ever having the energy potential that a human mind could/would have. So the human mind would always be more powerful, imo Oy vey. My head hurts. That's enough thinking for me for the moment. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Used to be a favorite seasonal drink of mine—two parts champagne (sparkling wine, let’s be honest), one part So Co (Southern Comfort) and quartered frozen apricots. Since then I’ve lost the So Co, kept the champagne, and played with all sorts of berries. I have my “Blumosa” made with a glass of 3 parts champagne and one part 100% blueberry-acai juice. And my “Mangosa” which is the same except with mango-acai juice. The point is, I’m a genius! This just in: “Researches recently made the discovery that adding alcohol to berries boosted the amount of antioxidants in the fruit that could be absorbed by our bodies.” To celebrate this news, I say: Strawberries are good, but in a daiquiri they’re even better. And now they’re healthier for you, too! Cheers to you! And let’s have another for the researches whose hard work we’ll forever be grateful. Bottoms up, berries! I have a juncus plant I named "Medusa". Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

So being aware of oneself constitues having a mind? I'm just thinking out loud... If we can create a mind, then all its processes would have to be known (i.e. able to be calculated), right? What about perception or instinct? Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
-
More specifically, I was looking for whether or not such things fit your definition of having a mind. Is a mind something that can be created (other than producing an infant, of course)? Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

What might you make of this? Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

How ridiculous is the euphemism "African-American"
PLFXpert replied to birdlike's topic in Speakers Corner
I was under the impression the term "black" was the preferred adjective for news reporting. I was just about to look it up when I decided instead to eat a bunch of caramels. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. -
I'm not offended. I try not to use the term, however, because I recognize it's offensive to some. It's the one term deemed "offensive" I've--for whatever reason--neutralized in my head. To me--as a slang term--"retarded" has more to do with someone being an idiot and less to do with anyone with any type of disability. Still, I'm sensitive to others' positions and feel no need to use the term in public for any reason. I'm just as cute and funny without it. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Question for those who don't believe in a higher power.
PLFXpert replied to gonzalesna's topic in Speakers Corner
Do you believe that individual could prove that God made his existence known without reasonable doubt, though? I get what you're saying--I think--that it's about personal (i.e. private revelation?) belief. I believe, and I believe God has made his existence known to me and w/out hallucination. Still, I can not prove it. I can not tell others it wasn't coincidence or happenstance or imagination. It is what it is to me. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. -
Question for those who don't believe in a higher power.
PLFXpert replied to gonzalesna's topic in Speakers Corner
I believe in God. And I believe in natural selection. One could argue I like to steer clear of extremes. It's true, in some senses. To answer your question: IMO, it all came from a combination of things/events that happened just so... It's all about Peak 37. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. -
Every night, almost--a lot of supernatural, a lot of action, a lot of emotion. I've noticed sometimes a dream can affect my mood the next day for better or more often worse. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Yea, like cleaning the house every day because I'm an anal clean/organizational freak isn't. I'm of the position no job--no matter how much you love it--does not become tiresome. It's the little (sometimes big?) rewards that become the wind in your sails. As far as I'm concerned, the only people who wake up every day excited to go to work and have a smile on their face all the time whilst doing so are crazy. I like to get crazy. Sadly, I always sober up. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Semi-related: I'm a fan of Escape to Chimp Eden, and without fail I both laugh and cry every episode. Even with all things put into perspective (different cultures, governments, way-of-life, etc.) it's difficult to understand how people can do some of the things they do to these (or any) animals. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

You don't have to ever let him go. But you have to laugh. You have to get out and see people & do things. If you're doing that much, you're doing just fine, hunny.
