I'm not one for playing politics and petty games. Anyone who's met me will tell you I'm pretty straight forward. If I've got a bite with someone, they'll know why 'coz I'll say it to their face first. I wasn't having a go at Avery, or playing politics, I was just having a laugh with someone on this forum over the event postponement awhile back. KL is the goods, just watch the landing areas if it gets a little breezy, the turbulance can be surprising... Ps I first met Aziz when I was about 5 years old, if you ever want to play in KL, have a sweet talk with Aziz, he's the best thing since Rawti Chi! xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

They were giving out stuff about it in KL, I might have a copy at home somewhere. I'm not certain, but I suspect its an Avery affair... xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Ok I've got a few messages about how the event worked, so here is: 10 jumps total. 7 jumps from the twins, for opening and landing accuracy. 3 jumps from Kl tower, for "aerial acrobatics". 4 categories are: teams, opening and landings, aerials and overall (which is the world champ) Total of 54 competitors began the event. In addition to Jeb, Gabrielle did a wrist and Ed did his legs. At the twins: Jumpers exited from a ramp on the 73rd floor and were judged on opening from 60th floor. A stock standard accuracy target was used for landings. At KL Tower: Jumpers exited at a height of about 1040ft above landing area and were judged on the difficulty of their manouver and how well and safely it was carried out. Zero scores for non-completion or safety violations were awarded. (All of this was made available to the the press by Skyventure, so I don't feel any inhibitions about writing this) The presentation dinner is tonight after the display at 7pm. xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Wow, did one of these guys do you over or what?? Or is it just you didn't make the cut?? Seriously, its pretty obvious you've never been to an ABA video night...most skydivers have....much of the public has... But to answer the thread question, its not polite to burn a building or site. No-one particularly likes getting busted... That said, I'm yet to hear of anyone honestly getting done because of FFOF1-11. If anything, more idiots with piss all respect and connections probably tried to scout sites from it.....and nearly got themselves busted.... xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Things are going well here in KL. Most competitors have completed at least round 3 or 4 (well, all bar one...) in the openings and accuracy event. Currently enjoying 2 rest days before jumping starts again on the 1st. No major injuries. Gib did a metacarpel...but very minor. Oh yeah, that's bar some bruising from the Skyventure Windtunnel at Genting. 8 of us hit it for some fun today and 15 are going up there tomorrow. Very funny stuff... Been a bit breezy but that's about it. xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

$35 or $30 if bought in bulk. Kiss up to manifest and you never know what you might get away with!! xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Yep... the difference between an experienced skydiver and a newbie, is that an experienced skydiver knows the danger and blatantly ignores/forgets about it. They try to exceed their skill level, and the resulting situation is often the same. Over the past 10 years, the best stuff up's have all been the "experienced" skydivers. The newbies just tend to go "smack", the experienced tend to "thwack" then "thud" and bounce a few times, cursing the whole way!!! Seriously though, if you push the envelope without caution, you will one day push too far and the earth plays pretty damn hard. I've seen broken femurs, broken bodies, broken spines, broken hands and arms, torn ligaments, torn flesh. As Robby McMillan drilled into me one jump: "Respect. Lose it and this sport will either hurt you or kill you. Or even worse, you'll end up hurting someone else." xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Jumped for 6 years before I finally got a suit with boosters I use. Don't mind 'em on the turns and tracks, but don't do me much otherwise Serisouly, I went from being reknowned for having my crap together to two weeks of laughter, until I got it puuuuurfect! xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

"Diplomatic Talks"-> Diplomacy itself has become a bit of an oxymoron against its definition. UN sanctions->If it was the united nations how could one sanction themselves? xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Will pass on a hi to Ray, Adrian and Shona (the packing princess) for 'ya Yeah I agree debate is good, but you'd be suprised how many people really think the dz op's have it easy. I've manifested my fair share, including the nat's training camp and one thing can be said for a lot of jumpers (Picton, Nagambie, Rambler's and Barwon in particular) they're bloody spoilt!!! They complain the most and abuse you the most!!!!! I've jumped at quite a few small dz's and I love the comraderie and closeness (although that can play the other way very badly....not naming names....) I turned up with what I considered to be very few jumps and people were begging to jump with me!! Conversely, I love the skyvan, I love being able to do a 16-way for the hell of it (Love stars and stripes!!) and I like having such a diverse group to jump with. I also love the opportunities that afforded me in who I learn to skydive with. But on the original topic, by sheer streak of numbers, you'll see more reasons for cypress' on bigger dz's than smaller dz's...and I've seen 3 too many... xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

My brother works in the hanger where our jump aircraft get worked on. He jumps out of them, and hasn't told me not to....that's good enough for me!!! xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

I might be lecturing (long story) on the 5th but will be about on the 4th and every other day Will pm you my details, I'm 5'6, loud, jump an orange purple and red talon2 and sport the nicknames "brat" and "trouble"... Come and say hello when you get out here and buzz me if you get caught out for a lift to the dz! Can't wait to see you "down under"! xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Yep, f*cked up and was left with no outs... Figured getting skewered on a tree would hurt a lot less than getting hit by a semi.... xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

AAD's will become mandatory eventually....or that's what I heard....after all, how many people have f lic? xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
-
B lic is min requirement for ff in op regs.... I would have said get a new sport/hobby at this point, but that's me.... Been speaking to a new jumper who had a cypress fire...states he wasn't scared at any point, even though he knew he was under 1500ft.....Very very scary.... Ummm did I miss something??? The age limits won't drop anytime soon....and no, I would not recommend starting on about liability and insurance... Do you have any idea about what it takes to run a dz? Ever manifested? Ever lost sleep over an accident at your dz that you couldn't have prevented? Did a dz operator ban you from jumping or something??! I urge you some caution, there's always more to things than meets the eye.... However I do agree with you on one thing- I fear people in general are trying to make things too idiot proof and are f***ing up the darwinian process....damn the bloody lawyers!!!! "Where was the strainer when they were cleaning out the gene pool????!!!" xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Going out of a c-130 hercules for a first jump would have been fine...but I probably wouldn't have appreciated how cool that is at the time!! As for first jump on our 14th b'day...we thought it was pretty cool too!! xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
