    dumb question

I have a dumb question... I saw a CV that said they were overall world champion for 2004. The last world cup or championship I heard about was malaysia 03/04. That would have meant douggs was world champion for the duration of 2004 (Go douggs!) Slim isn't around to organise the 04/05, so I was wodering if a new championship has been set up or is it just a typo? xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  2. Hmmmm.....who do you think took my dz.com photo? xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  3. This sounds familiar... I did my first tandem at 14 Did my first AFF and started skydiving at 16 and was dating a BASE jumper at the time. To cut to the chase, I don't think its a great idea just yet... PM sent. [Edited to add that am not currently single] xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  4. I'll be at Picton 26th-30th....Jiggs and Doug from Nagambie are going to be stopping by too, so look out for some wingsuit action!! xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

    Auzziewall

Yeah he's been back in platform/diving training for a few months now and is pulling off some pretty nice stuff xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Umm yep...I'm staking claim its Jimmy Freeman. xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  7. Perhaps I should clarify....sub 30's vertical speed, but massive horizontal speed... The problem is not just getting your vertical speed down, if your horizontal speed is still big, you're going to get hurt... Many of us have heard of people unintentionally landing a wingsuit (and living) with less than a fully-inflated canopy out.... My understanding is that the idea was to land it on a mountain slope (intentionally). Its not even close to being a new idea....but its still quite a novel one! I'll be watching this one with a lot of interest!! xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  8. The version I heard (2nd hand) was that it was without an inflated canopy...and the ambulance crew refused to take him to hospital. A guy I know was getting sub-30's three years ago on an S1!! With the newer suits coming out its possible to get much slower descent than that.... Not to mention Geb is pretty lanky! xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  9. $25 boogie at Picton over x-mas. We'll be doing some wingsuiting and general mayhem in the elad up to NY's if you want to come over from Nowra and have a play... xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  10. Just a quick one to let y'all know Jimmy, myself and a few other NSW crew are heading down to play and coach at Nagambie this w/e. (4-5th) Contact Jiggs (@dz.com) or me if you'd like to come play with us, be it flocking or first-time! If you're not sure over whether you want to come or not, look up the write-up from our last effort... xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  11. Let me know when you get in and we'll sort something out for you! (PM'd you my details) xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Never trust an article citing a source that wished to remain anonymous or didn't want to be named, its right up there with "a source close to ***". xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Its not been a good 12 months for the aussies. xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  15. And he got us kicked out of a bar in Malaysia last worlds for taking his shirt off and trying to stage dive....among other things... But no one bothered to tell me that my "top" had virtually slipped off.... xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  16. PM'd you. xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  17. I concur. Seriously, its not that hard to do, not matter what your skill level. Heck, I think even Jari nearly lost his head once.... Pilot increases power, banks or climbs...you launch up as you exit....you inflate a little too early...you present (with wings deflated) too much....you get complacent....you're trying to get out quickly on a flocking dive.... Add any of these with a low tail-plane or an inexperienced pilot and you've got a good probability of an incident report needing to be filled out. I've seen some damn scary footage from a number of tailstrikes....and they were without wingsuits, let alone with!!! xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  18. I'll take a PAC over an aerocommander anyday! (Also known as scare-a-commando's) But at the end of the day, if I have a choice, I'll stick to playing with skyvans! They're easy to watch exits from, nothing to hit (if hooks retracted) and it makes setting up flocking dives (literally) as easy as walking 'em out the back....and we have 2!! xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  19. hey! first, its Bobby not Bobbie. second, i'm an American in Aussieland just messin with ya, no worries! third, im drunk Damn Americans!!! You come to visit, we drive you to our dz's, we drive you to boogies interstate and what do we get for our troubles??! You try and trash our reputation as mad aussies and you try to trash our brand new aeroplane!!!! But we're more than happy to drink your beer! xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  20. Not bad (way better than me!), this guy was getting sub-30's as average speed....which is probably why he was sponsored by Bird-man! xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  21. Yeah, he told me he's up to something too... Haven't heard anything about it being Swedish though xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  22. MY fingers were too cold to get at the zippers, so I used my leg cutaway. Saw the footage of an aussie hitting a wall 4x after his cutaway cables caught and wouldn't release. He was fine, but the suit's a write-off. (Between him and "tailplane" [see broken toy thread], that's 2 suits I've seen written off!!) xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  23. Jari is reachable on his euro mobile (the +358 one) and on his b-m e-mail if you're really desperate. xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  24. I know a guy who was getting sub 30's and 40's on a S1 a few years back, can't wait to see what he'll do with an S3... xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
  25. Its not just a case of being easier to fly, its also about the amount of fabric you've got to deal with/get yourself into trouble with... I'd be hesitant about going too big too early and the easiest analogy that comes to mind is that its like downsizing your canopy! Sure, you want the fastest, newest, wiz-bang toy that all the big boys play with. But at the end of the day, its hardly worth it if you're grounded, injured or worse, because your eagerness (or ego) overcame/outweighed your abilities! Slow steps mean you'll get the most out of it and you'll learn to really fly suits. (Anybody can go ok in a skyflyer, but to keep up with them in a GTi or classic2, you really have to know how to fly!) If you're ordering through a dealer, see if they have a suit you can borrow. If not, ask around and see what you can borrow or buy to get your numbers up. s1's seem to have this reputation for being twitchy, but that hasn't been my experience or Jimmy's (BMI). Just my $0.02 worth xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
