Try Guillaume's Foolpix site: http://www.foolpix.com/ I know he's taken some awesome shots over the last few years. xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Its nice to see they were being a lot more pro-active about it this time around. I volunteered to help out with the 2003/4 champs and was keeping an eye on the media, whilst jumping was on at Menara KL. The foreign media (bbc, reuters etc) were great, they all brought their own harnesses and clips and looked after themselves, but the locals were bloody scary. I'll never forget seeing two of the local media guys, with no restraints/harnesses/rigs, stepping over the cable conduit and pushing and shoving each other to try and get a shot of a jumper exiting (I think it might have been Klaus Renz). One of the military guys grabbed the first and hauled him back over the conduit by his shirt collar and I pulled the other back by his belt. These idiots then started hurling abuse and seemed to have absolutely no idea that what they were doing was dangerous. They got escorted back down the tower and the military guys kept them all on a much tighter leash after that. Edited to add: Aziz wasn't working for SkyVenture, but he was certainly helping out on the day, on behalf of KL Tower. He's a good guy xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Two things: (1) Scott had a car accident...funny story though (2) If you think I'm going to let you re-earn your Tailplane nickname, you're in for a big shock Bobby! xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Nice clip James/Robi. Glad to hear everyone had an awesome time and damn impressed that y'all managed to get Jimmy to drink alcohol!!!!! xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both." -
There's some sweet footage of Jimmy doing a rope-BASE (complete with 3-ring cutaway on the rope) in our video, Stoopid BASE. Edited to add: I'm still working on that DVD, for those of you who've been PM-ing me. xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

just got back from Switzerland a month ago! There's a tandem operation in Lauterbrunnen. Its a chopper jump and thus expensive (about CHF90) but the view falling past the Eiger, Jungfrau and Monch mountains and into the valley comes recommended. xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Yeah, fair point. Although I think he's the one "going over the edge" xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

I'm sorry RhondaLea, but I'm going to have to take the other side on this one, I think you can "blame her". I've been in this situation, a God-fearing woman who's man put BASE before just about everything. If you can't accept that BASE jumping is part of who they are, you shouldn't be with them. More to the point, this reeks of trying to blame someone/anyone else for an individual's own actions and stupidity. This jumper knew he was hurt, but chose to push on. It is not the organiser's fault that he didn't ask for assistance and didn't display any outward symptoms, until he was back up at the exit point. When he did, they made him get treatment. At the end of the day, you make something idiot proof and they just create a better idiot. If anyone should be accepting responsibility for this guy, it should be the jumper himself. xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

From what I've heard, I would be veeeeeery careful about banditing in China..... xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

The other thread for this is getting more attention: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1898690;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Dude, this is soooooo something Dwain would have been a part of.....speaking of which, has anyone still got that t-shirt??? xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Rhys, there was a fatality last year here in OZ involving reverse risers (and a number of other factors) at Barwon heads. The thread turned into a bit of a sh^t fight, but there was some good info on rear/integrity risers in it. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=979716#979716 xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

If your chest strap is too tight and you normally sit low in your harness when under canopy, you're really going to know about it if you have a hard opening. ie read double masectomy edited to add: my BASE experience is pretty damned limited, but I've been jumping for eight years and am a natural D cup. xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

The BASE community in Australia is not exactly renowned for getting along... xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Good god those idiots in state parliament really have lost the plot!!! xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

There's some stuff on there that would make even Dwain grin.... As for putting life and limb at risk- 3 snakes, one lizzard, some sketchy as all sh*t scree with a 1000m drop off the right, one near-head on accident, and all for 30seconds of footage....its been an interesting trip. xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Hey all, thanks for the quick replies. It seems to be a busy one this w/e- there's germans, aussies, ruskies, americans and swiss, of course. The weather this alvo is not tops, but still clocking a few. If we don't see you here, see you at Benne. xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

What happened to Italian freefly champ in Australia
Jasmin replied to Trae's topic in Speakers Corner
As always, theres two sides to every story and I was at that event. As such I think its more than a little harsh for people to call us aussies a bunch of 'rough' 'psychos'. Edited to add: My fellow sisters, please use a little care when you post, the ramifications in the real world can be quite serious sometimes. xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both." -
Still working on the arials and wingsuiting clips, but am off to Europe to catch up with my taller half, so should have some nice new footage to add to it when I get back. xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

And there I was, thinking Aussie Jimmy had been pretty culpable letting me jump!!! As for the "get your crew in a BASE video" contest...see you in Zurich Jimmy!!! xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."

Bad example Chris. Many of you may remember Slim's infamous cliff strike... That rescue service was responsible for the footage of the incident ending up at channel nine and jimmy's subsequent arrest, not to mention there was an attempt at trial to make Jimmy pay for the cost of Slim's rescue by the Westpac Rescue chopper. Like I said, bad example. xj "I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with the earth...but then I wouldn't recommend picking a fight with a car either, and that's having tried both."
