  1. Oh my GOD! He's rounding off dates now to try to spin his way free of his own web! That is freakin' hilarious! HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.
  2. What's funny about that? He's right. HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.
  3. I hope you are not talking about potential energy. I really, really, REALLY hope you are not talking about POTENTIAL ENERGY. Ever been to an ox roast? One where coals are readied and then the ox carcass placed into the pit, covered with coals and then dirt? The coals are almost completely starved of oxygen yet they burn for another 24-48 hours hot enough to completely cook a large mammal. Steel need not get very hot to lose a significant amount of strength. A simple campfire of wood reaches temps hot enough to melt aluminum (like beer cans). This is well within the phase transformation range of ferritic metals. Confine the fire within a building and the temps skyrocket. 4. It was 1941. December 7 to be exact. I've told you that several times but obviously you don't learn well. I stated the reasons for the draft. You are free to interpret the mindset of those who imposed it. History Lesson #4: The US military was depleted after WWI when servicement returned home and very few had any inclination to stay in. No serious attempts were made to keep the military at much more than a minimal level. Yep, exactly right. Many peacetime deals are made that trade equpiment for bases, etc. It was going on well before WWII and still happens today. Lending assistance to a country actively involved in a war does not mean the lending country is "ramping up" for involvement. Just because you assume that was the case does not make it so. Sorry. No, they had leftover rifles that served the purpose, but had not produced/purchased enough of the then-new M1 Garand to supply any new troops over those that were in the ranks when the US entered the war. One thing that is needed when "ramping up for war" is to outfit your basic infantry soldier. My dad worked on ocean freighters when the war broke out and served in the Merchant Marine during the war. My mother lost several uncles and cousins in eastern Europe starting before the US got involved in the war. Does that make my opinion carry any more weight than yours? Reagan did serve in the military but he couldn't see worth a damn so he was relegated to desk jobs. I would not consider him a "punk bitch" because of that. Well, I never said their training was a joke, but I know at least two WWII vets who say the training they got at the beginning of the war WAS a joke. Their words, not mine. But what the hell do they know? They were only there, unlike you who wasn't. 5. Uhh, yeah. Right. Now back away from the donuts. HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.
  6. Before i even started to read your lengthy post i first went to the end to see who wrote it. Yeah, no bias at all there. Excuse me if I tell you, without even reading a single paragraph, that you entire post is shit. Just plain, everyday, found-in-the-pasture-steaming shit. HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.
  7. So they are requesting why thie calculations of the NIST failed to comply with thier own strict guidelines as well as others, how there is photographic evidence that the basis for thier calculations is false, and if accounted for would render the whole report, wrong! You find this to be ludicrous, how? WHERE is the photographic evidence? Either attach it to your post or add a link. Whose calculations? From what data? Using what source? You see, to just say they were wrong because you fault their data and calcs is not enough. You must give access to those you are trying to convince access to the very same data and calculation techniques so that the process can be repeated. It is what is known as "peer review" and is held to a very high standard in the scientific community. A much higher standard than any used by the "truthers". 8. My bad it is american institute of architecture! you can't have looked that hard, or must have minimal information about these scientists, to be asking me for a link, you can't have read this thread, there is a huge amount of information, If you look. Here is a request from scientists and architects to explain some missing information that is necessary to obtain a credible result, they break thier own rules and many others, unexplained and without which a reasonable calculation is not obtainable. NIST has one prognosis and a weak one at that. These guys just want some answers, not pointing the finger just pointing out fundamental problems with the prognosis that was produced. It is the blatant disregard to the requests and significance of them that implicates the official conspiracy theory as bogus... I did find the American Institute of Architects, but not Architects Institute Of America. So some want answers to questions they have. That means absolutely nothing since that is the norm for any disaster. They aslo wanted answers for what happened when a walkway collapsed in a hotel and killed several people, when a bridge collapsed and fell into a river (that happened more than once) and many other events. To single out their request for the Trade Centers as being some kind of sign of a conspiracy is totally ludicrous. 9. Maybe because you are the only one who thinks my transposition of a digit was something other than a simple typing error? Maybe becuse you are the only one who thinks if the keys aren't adjacent then it isn't an error and must be stupidity? Take a look around you, Lucky. Not many here siding with you. That should tell yo something about the quality and substance of your argument. 10. History lesson #3: When the peacetime draft was imposed it was only allowed by congress under the condition that the troops were only to be used to defend US territories. Our military at that time had been depleted to the point where we did not even have the capability to defend our own shores. Again, the ships being sent over the Atlantic were part of the lend-lease act. They were being used by other countries, not the US. Up until late 1941 the US still was practicing a policy of neutrality with no intent to enter the war. If we had been ramping up for war during 1940, don't you think our men would have been training with real rifles instead of broomsticks when we did enter the war? That our men would have been issued state of the art rifles instead of leftover WWI Springfields (a fine rifle in its own right)? That we would have had tropop ships instead of converted cruise ships to move our men to the places they were needed? 11. Is "American Institute of Architects" the same group as "Architects Institute of America"? HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.
  12. One thing is for sure - the least effective way to let people forget about such an embarrassment is to keep posting (8 in a row) new entries to the thread. I don't care if the world is aware I didn't know what the Onion was or is. I think that skit was hillarious and illustrative at showing what a bunch of homophobes conservatives are, even the Larry Craig variety. Not amazing that no neo-cons want to talk about GDP, the stock market or how Belgian thinks PH was attacked in 1945, they instead want to act as tho me not knowing the Onion is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar more important. We hear your strawman loud and clear. Maybe it's because I admitted I made a simple typing error, they accept that as something almost everybody does from time to time, and let it go at that. You, on the other hand, thought a satirical web site was real news and instead of doing a little checking you tried to say it was some kind of right-wing radical site and won't just come out and say you fucked up. One thing about SC: If you make a mistake and own up to it, people razz you a bit and move on. If you keep trying to squirm around and spin your way out of it they see right through and have a field day with it. For example, I typed 1945 as the year Pearl was attacked. I know, as do most people, it was 1941. Why did I type 1945? I don't know, but it wasn't becaue of ignorance. When you pointed out my error i went back, corrected it, and even added a statement to that effect at the end of the post. 13. Amazing someone else had to point out your data That'd be a lot more believable if you hadn't DIRECTLY REPLIED TO THE POST, especially given your penchant for complaining about people not providing data with their claims. Amazing you didn't say - see attachment. But of course you like atatchments as it's like pulling teeth to get a source via a website. You need to cough up the website you got this from or find the IISS site so we can verify it came from them - that's for starters, but I'm game; let's explore this one leg of many in this issue. Again, even if this data is true and valid, the US has them beat is some areas, it doesn't mean therefore the USSR was a threat to us. So many more prongs to the issue, but it important to know how the military's sized up. My God...you are blonde! 16. That is quite a post coming from one who refuses to acknowledge the conclusions of highly skilled and trained experts, many of whom would just love to pin the attack on Bush, who have independently come to the same conclusion. (BTW, the themite/thermate residue theory is a crock of used toilet water. Those same residues can be found in the remnants of virtually any large fire that consumed a wide variety of materials.) 17. To the best of my knowledge police are trained in less violent methods starting with calm negotiations. Problem is, when people don't respond to those methods and/or increase their level of hostility. That is the primary reason I believe there is more to the story than what has been told and I will wait until i hear more before condemning the cop. A while back i read a news story about a cop who tasered a 70 year old woman over a traffic stop. My first thought was "WHY???" The a video of the incident came out and showed the cop warning her many, many times to back up or get tasered as she was in his face and getting dangerously close to traffic. In that case the cop did the best thing for both of them as attempting to wrestle her could very well have ended up with them on the roadway. 18. It looks that way from the info available at the time. But, like I said, we don't know the whole story. I prefer to refrain from judgement until more info is out. HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.
  19. The cop better have a damn good reason for using a taser on a 10 year old. But I will pass on judging the man's actions since the only info any of us here have at this time is a very short piece from news site. I would bet there's a lot more to it than just a kid not taking a shower and kicking a cop in the balls but, like I said, he better have a damn good reason. 20. Mike, you asked me to answer a question or questions, you said they were here in this post, They're not. Go ahead and post it / them. Be detailed an enumerate; I will answer them with detail. No, I asked you when you were going to refute the data I posted. Oh shit. You confused the Hell out him again. First you post facts, now this. Yeah, I agree we'll have to start calling you "Thread Killer". 21. If the CIA ever simultaneously destroyed two of the worlds tallest buildings, side by side, full of people, then the answer is no. You speak of wanting people to open their eyes and look at the "evidence". Well, we have. Your so-called evidence is not evidence at all but rather misunderstanding and ignorance. You speak of the truthers having almost 1000 signatures from achitects and engineers who say 9/11 was an inside job, yet you ignore the architects and engineers who outnumber them by two, three, four or more magnitudes of order. Every single piece of "evidence" you have put on this forum has been shown to be false" yet you choose to believe the opinion of self educated prophets over the opinion of those who have a real education and experience to back it up. 22. An act such as you suggest could only be carried out with the help of literally hundreds of people, including many who lost family that day. Name just ONE who has stepped forward to spill the beans on his/her buddies. Just one. And that is assuming, for the sake of argument, that all the stupid bullshit you believe is really true even though every single bit of it has been disproved many times by many different parties. 24. I would agree with everything you said. When I carry it is a 1911 .45 cal. When not with me it is at home in a keypad nightstand safe. The only time...ONLY time...there is a round in the chamber is when discharge is imminent. Chamber is empty even when I am carrying. Yes, it is a tactical disadvantage under certain circumstances. And, being a .45 that i handle easily, I feel no need for more than 7 rounds. After all, the chances of being attacked at night by 6 Ninjas and needing 3 rounds to drop each is pretty remote. But I have weighed the risks and, for me, the added risk of a chambered round (esp. when handled by a half-asleep person) is not worth the one or two second added time to reay the weapon or the need to use both hands to rack a slide (though i can do it with one hand and a hip almost as quickly but not as safely). As you said, to each his own.
  25. News Flash: The truth is out. It has been out. In fact, it has been out for several years. Ironic, isn't it, that a group of stupid people who call themselves "truthers" won't believe the truth.
