  1. I found out many moons ago that 16 inches is pretty close to the best length for velocity. Depending on the particular cartridge you may gain just a tad (not much, though) by going longer than 16, but in many cases velocity actually dropped off slightly. This is because there is so little powder to burn that it all is consumed very quickly, in the first few inches, and the gases just don't have enough energy to overcome the friction and continue to accelerate the bullet much past 16 inches of bore. Contrary to "common knowledge", in a .22 a shorter barrel can be much more accurate. This is because most .22 barrels are pretty flimsy to begin with so shortening them really reduces the effects of vibration. I say go ahead and cut it if it is legal and that is what you want. You will be pleased with the results. Just make sure to get a very good and precise crown. That will make or break the accuracy of the finished product. 2. Actually, airdvr and kallend are both right. Just in different ways. As airdvr said, the approval ratings show the "newness" of Obama has worn off and he is being viewed for what he has done and not just for the hope of him fullfilling promises made. OTOH, kallend is correct in asserting the numbers mean very little to nothing as far as predicting future performance and popularity are concerned. Obama could very well turn those numbers around rather quickly, or he could trip on his dick and continue to slide. Political popularity is a fickle demon. 3. I guess a certain amount of redundancy is needed for those who can't quite grasp the concept. I once went through a drive-thru at a fast food joint and concluded it was the girls first day at the drive-thru window when she asked, "Will that be for here or to go?" 5. Hey Bill, obvioulsy a current poster registered as a newby to make this genius statement. I hope we don't have a rash of this going all ways, it trashes the forum. "And Reagan was the head Nazi, considering he named all kinds of Hollywood actors as Communists and they were basically blackballed or worse from Hollywood after that. He was a real Nazi fucking fascist pig." Pot, meet kettle. 6. So, according to another one of your made-for-convenience definitions, a political party can have a membership that is completely different from what their doctrine and ideology dictate. Nice try, but that dog don't hunt. Spin again. Who said completely? That is your made for convenience interpretation. If youi take the GOP/RNC, you would have some carbon-copy Nazis, some partial, some welfare moralists who align with the right for moral reasons, some fiscals who don't care about the moral right, etc. So when people vote, they don't look for which party they align with 100%, they look for the closest party to them, with their collective beliefs. Sometimes you luck out and the party you like never goes against you, rarely tho. So now we get to the stage of the thread where you start backpedaling away from what you posted and start saying "not always". In a few more posts it will be "sometimes" and then it will end up as "well, it could be, on rare occasions". Face it. You called Republicans "Nazis" and now you're trying to back out of it. Too bad your accusation is part of the thread for all to see. I don't think you could tell a Nazi from a Socialist from a Communist from a Democrat from a Republican. 9. I guess he wasn't all bad. This is kinda why I metaphorically compare Hitler to modern-day Republicans - they tend to have similar ideologies. They're not carbon copy, and I'm not literally saying Repubs are Nazis, but there is a metaphorical connection. Sure you are. Remember this a few posts back? 13. Agreed. Yes, rules are rules and he did know about them when he bought, but I've been a member of several HOAs and every single one has looked past their own board of directors breaking the rules, intentionally misinterpreted the rules to "punish" someone they didn't like, etc. He can have a flagpole in his yard. In this case fuck the rules. The man earned the right to have a flagpole in his yard. I'd be willing to bet none of the assholes trying to stop him even have a flag on the front of their house. 16. First you need to find out what is wrong with cat. Could be something simple. If cat needs expensive treatment you need to balance cost vs. quality of life vs. life remaining in cat. No sense spending $2000 to keep kitty alive but miserable for 6 more months. Talk to vet about alternatives. My parents once had a large cat who started limping. Seems the upper end of his femur had started to deteriate. They opted for an experimental (at that time) treatment of removing just the bad part of the bone. Cat healed up fine and after a couple months had no limp or anything. Of course he didn't have a hip joint on his left side either. Lived another 8-10 years and surgery was only a couple hundred bucks. 18. Or.... Wifey finds out and meets Tiger in the driveway with a 9-iron when he arrives home in the wee hours of the morning. Starts smashing windows before he even gets out. Tiger turns car around and speeds down the drive., loses control as he attempts to turn and hits objects setting off airbags resulting in facial injuries. Only Tiger and wifey know the whole story and it's ok with me if it stays that way. 19. It doesn't have to be, we are just showing it is a strong possiblity. Truthers want it to be molten steel so they attempt to eliminate the possibilty of it being anything else including (especially?) aluminum. 22. I have watched your video. The organic material he added sure looked like it was glowing. I don't see what your point is unless you are saying that since the aluminum he melted did not glow red then the river flowing out of the tower could not have been aluminum, but that would be an illogical assumption. So, if you claim it wasn't Al, then what do you think it was? We know it wasn't Fe because temps did not get high enough to melt steel. 24. Yes, I wrote: I would be surprised if any state defines Justifyable Homicide differently than allowing a person to kill another while protecting a 3rd person. I can't see a person being charged when they killed a person while that person was defending another from grave imminent danger. It's gotta be what they call an Affirmative Defense to claim Justifyable Homicide in that case. Not sure what hair you're trying to split here, but as I wrote and let me clarify: "I would be surprised if any state defines Justifyable Homicide differently (from other states) than allowing a person to kill another while protecting a 3rd person." The issue and context was that Normiss stated that he thought some states, esp Calif, DC, etc had laws that didn't allow a person to kill to save another person, unless you are endanged. IOW's, killing a 3rd party to defend a 2nd party was not legally statuted. Now this is clear to everyone else, but since your brother just looked silly, you feel the need to jump in and split hairs where there are none. FAIL. It's a pretty damn big hair, son. You stated you would be surprised if any state defined it differently than allowing one person to kill another while protecting a third. The you posted a section of law that contains several other situations where it is allowed yet you fail to see the difference.
