You use the words rig and container interchangeably. I was always under the impression that RIG = complete setup. CONTAINER = harness/container only. in this thread http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3600007 you stated that you life limit your personal gear at 7 years. Now you are saying 10 years.

HELP!! Will I fit in this container!?
likestojump replied to Johnny6Rocket's topic in Gear and Rigging
call/email Aerodyne with the Serial Number and see what they say. Random internet people will give you random and completely useless (for the most part) opinions on the fit, unless they know the rig and you personally. -
how often does that really happen ? Have there been cases ? Have people been found guilty ?
-
but how come you are ONE OF THE FEW (if not the only one) who believes this ? I will make you a deal, I will buy your 7 year old gear for 500 bucks every time. Or do you take advantage of those other stupid people who believe there's such thing as a resale value on skydiving gear ? my current container is 9 years old with 1200 jumps, canopy has 800 jumps is 8 years old, reserve is 2 years old with 1 ride, Cypres2 is 5 years old. I don't plan to retire any of it it anytime soon
-
yes and yes and yes. but it still looks vintage and scary. The container is older than me !
-
WRONG. Dbag belongs with the container, and should not be sold with the canopy.
-
most dbags nowdays are black, so you are forced to do what I suggested. also, if you have your rigger stitch it on, and do it while the bag does not have a canopy in it, I don't see what kind of malfunction you can create.
-
I have only seen that done once, but seems reasonable. do yourself, your dbag , and your rigs future owners a favor - write all your info out on something that's waterproff, and have that stitched to the outside of the bag. This way the next owner can pull the stitching and attach a panel with their name to it. Eclipse freebag bridles have a panel like that, I think it's a marvelous idea instead of permanent marketing it in.

It looks....scary (in 2009) pictured is the 1978 model

Re: [slotperfect] Manufacturer Contacts On dropzone.com
likestojump replied to burmite's topic in Gear and Rigging
it's a very subjective question. When in doubt, I just send the HC to the manufacturer and let them give me their opinion after THEY inspect it. -
inquiring minds want to know. Unless it's of personal nature, please make it public. If the dude is indeed a scammer, it would be nice to know.

he keeps posting same things that sell on eBay, within hours of them being "sold". the Javelin C20 harnessed is actually reported as stolen http://www.dropzone.com/stolen/Detailed/658.html he removes his ads right away. I smell fish, so I stay away

My personal preference is a larger pocketed or domes slider. Those are discussed in those threads as well.

Beware: Scam Classifieds, Add taken down
likestojump replied to AdamUSN's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
IT is 100% scam. There's a very easy pattern to spot, and their English always sounds the same. -
I think it's awfully tiny
-
order in ? have a sympathetic friend bring food ?
-
here's a picture me swooping my spectre.
-
the canopy is worth 400 to 600 USD depending on the gayness of the colors and how much you like it :)
-
here you go. Spectre with microline on the left, and dacron on the right Why do you want to see a pic ?
-
I was merely supporting your statement.
-
And is usally found on big old canopies jumped by old men. Sparky My Spectre 120 has dacron lines. And I would not call it a big old canopy, nor would I call myself and old man.
-
Safe to say Icarus customer service sucks....?
likestojump replied to sd-slider's topic in Gear and Rigging
so if I buy from an American company producing their canopies in Honduras - am I still buying American ?
