let me just add that I like the new Chase ATMs. And I have been using both the old and new for awhile, as well as "others" at "other banks".
-
oh my, those new and improved things. ATMs are the tools of the devil self-checkouts are definitely invented by the devil red light cameras are probably in the same category Chop that internet connection cable, take the sledgehammer to the cellphone, get rid of trip computer in your car, take out the fuel injectors and replace them with carburetors ! paranoia will destroy ya.

How many canopies should I try before buying?
likestojump replied to ihazkittehz's topic in Gear and Rigging
Try whatever you can, but don't make it a religion :) At this stage of the game seems the most popular and recommended canopies are 9cell Sabre2 Fusion Pilot Silhouette Safire2 7cell Spectre Triathlon Storm I am sure there may be otheres I am forgetting, but it's probably best you determine if you prefer the 9 or the 7cell, and than proceed trying what you can get your hands on. -
I have had a few sent to a guy in FL. Has that changed ?

Lets see your tattoo, piercing or other body mods

I feel sorry for anyone who has to maintain a certain public image. To let your career dictate who you are, how you look and behave. That's a whole debate in itself. I have been self employed all my life, so I am probably held to lower standard (if any) than most people. Though, I still feel SOME threshold needs to be maintained. Why ? Because as much as we'd like for the world to revolve around us, it does not. Majority of us are forced to interact with others, and as such we get judged by our look, speech manner, and overall presentation. In short I think that most people CHOOSE position where a certain public image needs to be maintained, rather than get forced because their dead-end job requires them to wear a suit :) How does how you look dictate how well you can preform your job? Im not trying to be hostile, im just curious. -

How does it impact your CURRENT work, and how do you think it will impact you FUTURE work/life ? I am assuming this is not reversible (at least not without surgical work)? -
Buyer Scams: Western Union and Certified "Cheques"

you are safe. Just keep ignoring "him" -
My favorite skydiving "stunt". One of those TV stunt shows. Jumper (Jeb Corliss ?) has a third canopy soaked in kerosene. Direct bagged out of the aircraft. He is flying the soaked canopy, pulls out a flare gun. Shoots his own canopy. It looked like the Hindenberg! Then he cuts it away and lands on his main. Troy Hartman, looks like used a 5gal bucket to deploy an old BASE canopy vid : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRbnhst5IGA sig picture on his site http://www.troyhartman.com/

Hell that is only 40 lb. more than the test weight and 90 lb. above MAXIMUM OPERATING WEIGHT. What could possibly go wrong? Sparky bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz his MAIN WL is 2.4 (look at his profile). His reserve WL is a bit less. I have landed a PDR106 at 2.1, and would prefer not to make it a daily occurence.

~~ 800 skydives 3 emergency cutaways, 12 fun ones all three were linetwists, two were on wingsuits
-
yes, it would be near impossible, and certainly unsafe and very un-pretty looking. yes, following last few years of threads, the Optimum packs smaller than PDR.

I have done this with cameras and cellphones : soak in distilled water for a bit (a few hours). leave to dry out next to a dehumidifier, or run a hairdrier close enough to evaporate the moisture, but far enough not to melt it. It will take a few days to dry out properly, but I have always revived things that way...

All the Icons I have seen (10 of them) had the RSL on the inside of the left riser
-
by the DOM alone (1986) I can tell you it's an older Raven. The colors are also of the Raven vintage.
-
the seller is probably just confused., ravenII is 218. his is probably a 150, Precision never made a 160, easiest thing to do - ask them for a picture of the canopy tail label.
-
they wont replace the battery unless you ask them. your cypres black box (inside the reserve packtray) has an orange sticker with last battery change date.

the ad will be gone in a few hours, don't worry. They keep appearing. If you notice it's not text, but a picture in the body, this way eBay's scam filters can't read it. they are usually gone within 12 hours.

:) It's even funnier that I am currently holding a rig for a person who comes home from UAE for Christmas. We made a deal where I will ship it to a friend of mine in his home area, and he will just take possession of it as soon as he gets home. (he sent me a downpayment, and will exchange the balance for the rig with my friend during a meet).
-
Got family in the states ? Unless they despise you, they can probably take delivery. Buying thorugh a rigger/loft ? Shipping different parts to a rigger/loft ? I bet they would hold it for you. Buying a used rig through a reputable dealer/seller ? I am guessing they should have no problems holding it until you get back, or shipping it a few days before your arrival. There are probably other options available, such as friends (unless you don't have any), DZOs or DZs.

what a certain PD rep told me is that "it was the most elliptical wing of their lineup, and just did not fit into the line of products they wanted to carry". makes sense to me. People usually either love 'em or hate 'em. Same goes for Jedi's :(
-
I believe it was made from 1991 until 2001 when it was replaced withe the Sabre2

How windy is too windy?
likestojump replied to BaronVonBoll's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I don't have a hard limit, but I use my personal judgment to make the decision. Very experienced jumpers sitting on the ground is definitely a sign for me to sit as well. I also look to see if the winds are constant or gusting. I will jump in higher speed constant winds than in gusts. If the landing area is clean of obstacles and there's nothing shadowing the wind (hangars, trees, etc), I may be more comfortable in higher winds. I jumped in Byron (JohnMitchell, that's in Byron, Nortern California) and their landing area is wide open, the winds were cooking, but I felt comfortable. Same thing at Summerfest this year, the first few days the winds were pretty strong, but very clean, and weren't passing over any structures. I was landing straight down :) -
$300-$600 it's a fairly unpopular size, and it's a Sabre1, albeit in great shape (As you say)
