I am guessing the OPs thread got locked, so they are now, after 10 jumps and 2 years in the sport giving up on the virtual skydiving community. re: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3807231 if that's the case, I suggest to : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mh6pZQX22CQ if that is not the case, then good luck

the enzymes in soap only activate above a certain temperature, so if you are using cold water you may as well forgo the soap.

Wanting to sell my gear, but terrified of getting scammed
likestojump replied to birdshit's topic in The Bonfire
post on the classifieds. accept paypal and/or money orders talk to person by phone if possible, you can lookup their history on dz.com - you can read their past posts and see how credible they are. on a second note, a used protrack will never sell for $250 -
exact answer found here : http://www.perftex.com/CanopyCare.htm

I like http://www.priceline.com/ We were in Paris in 2008 and had a room right at La Defense, 2 mins walk from the Metro for just under $100 USD/night. A nice hotel too.

Yes, my mom knows. I really didn't care what she would have told me about liking/disliking it, but I felt she should know. As an adult I should be allowed to make my own decisions. No, I did not make any deals with her or any other relatives about using AADs, not BASE jumping, not jumping at night, or anything else silly like that. If I cannot make my own educated decisions as a self-supporting adult then what good am I ? Also, why the hell should I cater into anyone else irrational and uneducated fears ? Many people I met did not have even basic knowledge of modern skydiving, and their most common response had been "did you ever forget to pull your ring" or "did you ever have a malfunction" ? Oviously, such people have only seen the military round jumps, and have no data to make a valid judgment of modern skydiving. To add to my point - I tell my mom about things I do, and I sometimes show her and her husband videos - but I don't think they get nearly as excited about them - not because they are uncomfortable, but simply because they are as passionate about nylon crack as I am. And to add the the point - she has not invested a penny in me since I was 16, so I felt that she had a right to know about what I do, but had no right to stop me simply because it made her uncomfortable. Obviously if she would have a made a rational argument about anything I do, and based her discomfort on solid data and not silly emotional resposne, I would have most definitely listened. Caving into irrational fears, and society conditioned responses is plain silly and conformist.

D-FGOJ (cn 139) Straight from a Hollywood movie. A German hijacked the aircraft, after pretending to be a photographer shooting parachute jumps from inside the airplane. The aircraft took off from LPEV (Évora) with 3 parachuters, and right after, the hijacker diverted the aircraft using a pistol to LPCS (Tires). When the aircraft was landing at Tires, the parachuters jumped at very low altitude (not known if they were forced)... The aircraft landed with the engine shut down and skidded into a ditch, breaking the left wing and leaving again to the grass breaking the landing gear. The pilot managed to flee unhurt and the hijacker committed suicide (he's almost underneath the left wing). link http://www.airliners.net/...ace-750XL/1651665/L/ any more info ?

I am GUESSING here, but it's a fairly educated guess. I packed a fairly used Spectre 190 into an M5 (one size smaller main packtray than an M6) and it fit soft, but well. Being that the Lotus 170 is an airlocked 9cell, and assuming that the one you are getting is fairly new, I am guessing that it will fit soft, but safe into an M6. as per PIA, the Vengeance 170, which is another airlocked canopy has a volume of 522cu inches, which is a little large than a Sabre 190 with microlines. Based on this, I further support my guess. Of course talking to Mirage would help, but you'll have to wait until Monday. good luck

I am assuming you mean a credit card as opposed to the checking/savings account. The only thing it affects is the average length of your accounts. The longer your accounts have been around, the better it is for your credit score. Assuming you are just like every other American and have lots of credit accounts (which include credit cards, car loans, appliance store loans, etc), a single card being re-issued will have very minimal, if any affect on your score.

4 year service has to be done within 6month (before or after) of the DOM. a unit made in 08/2006 has to be serviced between 02/2010 and 02/2011
-
the cutter is life limited, just like the unit. The only difference is that they allow a slight difference in the cutter DOM, so you may use it "a little" past it's 12year and 3 month life. No clear explanation as to how long, but it's pretty much bricked like the Cypres :(

likestojump replied to Anvilbrother's topic in Gear and Rigging
Did you get paid with paypal ? - look up in your paypal history, it goes back to the beginning. Did you get a check/MO and deposit it - your bank should be able to provide you with a copy. Most backs have on-line image depository. -
Buying that Fisrt Rig/Internet scams
likestojump replied to richravizza's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I believe you told me you were "out of the country" and that my main would take an extra week to arrive. Got me. Kinda :) I still had phone access, and you used paypal :) I am more referring to people claiming not to have phone access for a long time due to being overseas. Such as "I am on vacation in UK for the next 6 weeks and I don't have a phone. But the rig is with my sister in US, so she will ship it to you". But of course - why not give the sisters number, and who the hell vacations in the UK for 6 weeks :) ? -
Buying that Fisrt Rig/Internet scams
likestojump replied to richravizza's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
there may be a few scammers, but in general they are easy to weed out. Get them on the phone. No matter how new or inexperienced you are, you still know more about gear than any scammer out there. It will take under a minute of talking to realize if you are talking to Joe Shmuckbag or to someone who knows about skydiving. Excuses such as "I don't have a number", "I am overseas", " I am in-between phones" - are BS, and are the red flags. Granted, someone who is a jumper may try to screw you, but that's a lot less likely. Speaking to your rigger or experienced competent jumper who you trust will be most helpful just like posters above have said. and on a personal note - do some research and figure out what size and type (model) gear is good for you. A 1980s Racer with a 5 cell reserve and a StratoCloud main for $700 in the classifieds may be described as "good beginner gear", but it really is NOT :( good luck. -
to be more specific : in order to install/remove the Cypres you need to open the reserve packtray. The reserve itself stays in the freebag. So in other words if the same rigger who packed your reserve wants to install the AAD mid-repack cycle, it's theoretically possible to do so by just opening the tray, installing the AAD, and then re-closing the pack.

Rigging customers passing through pay different rate.
likestojump replied to hookitt's topic in Gear and Rigging
I know an old time rigger who charges you extra $40 the first time he works on your gear. He uses that as an inspection fee, and really does go over the whole thing for as long as it takes. Afterward it's the same (regular) price per repack, as long as the repacks are done with him. Makes sense to me.
