Hi Don't know anything about the cost of the fans, but if you got charged $110 just for spark plugs. IMO your mech "friend" is chargeing you for more than parts. 2 engine fans that died at the same time? Hopefully a real mechanic will respond. Ever notice that when a head light burns out it only happens one at a time. If both headlights stop working at the same time it's usualy usually a electical problem thats powers both lights ...... Something like a .......Fuse. I suggest you start a need thread and ask for car maintence advice from a mechanic. Putting new parts (dual fans for $400) is what it is. The first pair lasted 190K miles and now you paid maybe dealer ship price for another pair that will be going stong way after the rest of the car is dead. IMO based on the miles on your car. your or your mech friend should be shopping (phone or line line)for parts at a auto parts recycling center.AKA junk yard. I'll play the old fuddy duddy. If it's done for humor and the student understands its humor, no big deal. But, if the student is actually caused to be more fearful, and really believes she is in more danger because of the joke, then that goes over the line. We shouldn't be terrorizing students for our personal amusement. Hi JR I agree with you 100% except the fuddy duddy part IMO your acting like a mature adult. Messing with a students gear Is HS bull shit Terrorizing students is HS bull shit. We were a little more subtle and actually tried to make the ride to altitude a Fun experience for the student. With the instuctor's permission. Watch the look of terror on the face of the student and smile at them. A big ass smile, the more people on the load the better. Rather than terrorizing the student some of them actually relax a little bit. IMO that's a good thing.

When I had the foot surgery a few years ago, they asked me to mark my own foot in the prep room before they started the IV's. A couple months ago they also asked me before the hand surgery. Oddly, when I had the nasal surgery a few months back, they didn't ask. Mr Spot is a very wise old man. Due to his senior yr's he's had lots of experience dealing with Dr's. If Mr Spot marks his body parts I'll follow his lead just like the old farts at the DZ. Anyone want to guess if we get to see the video of the knee surgery. I'll start........ YES. I've actually witnessed two funny O-shits from Dr's. The first time a jump buddy "almost back in the day" Was getting ready for open heart surgery 1972 style, the gas Dr stopped by to evaluate the patient on surgery day,made some small talk about Ms XXX from church says hi, best wish's etc. My bud looks the Dr in the eye and tells him he doesn't know Ms XXX from any church. The look on the Dr's face was Then Then he was gone

Hi Pops DZ policy's change over time. I wonder if elsinor or any other DZ tells their tandem sydivers ($$$) to leave their kids homes, and then send them home when they show up with the kid in tow. Don't quit your real job, until you check out the DZ's personally. The stuff I'm reading in this thread about a certain DZ in Wa state is BS. Don't know what it is about wuffo kids and camera's. Witnessed a nice guy at the DZ in Wa state get really pissed off and went after a wuffo rug rat for messing with his camera stuff. Had to tell the dude to settle down and get the DZO and let her take care of the problem caused by one of her customers. Might need a new paragraph on waivers. Hi G Panhandling is a job for some people 8HR's/day, 5 days/week outside, rain, sun, heat, cold. Thats a not a nice job but to some people it's a job, and must pay well enough that the panhandlers show up everyday and can afford to commute for a better Job. In the big city across the bridge it's against the law to do the sign/street corner panhandling thing. About a yr or two ago the folks from the "wrong side of the bridge" started commuting, carpooling, public trans. to the "right side of the bridge". The panhandlers hit the glory hole, most of the locals are The chief of police is because we don't have the same "Safety laws" as the folks on the wrong side of the bridge have. News flash: After the 3rd city council public mtg I'm guessing the council will pass a Safety Law prohibiting panhandling. One Jump Wonder -
that's the entire point of Being an old timer... It's been happening in general society for generations, it's their job to complain about loud music, fast bikes noisy equipment, and young guns who is likely die or get seriously injured contrary to their warnings Hi Squeak You 100% correct except for one minor clarification. It's not my job to complain about loud music or any of that silly stuff. I rather enjoy it and find the whole situation entertaining I enjoy reading about various activities where some of the different generation groups, are whineing about "them" and the other them.

Hi B Read a story about a saturation diver in a compression chamber between dives. To flush the toilet the diviers had to open and close the valves in a very specific sequence. One guy got the valve thing out of sequence while sitting down. Then there was the WW2 barracks in England we stayed in during thee late 60's with the water tank 5-6' above the t-bowl. Only flushed the bowl once while sitting down, Didn't need any directions after that.
