The big question is "Is that a unisex name?" I'm not Russian enough to know. In our culture, there are plenty of people named Pat or Jan or some other name that is not gender specific. Then there are women named Jo, Bobbi, Billie or some other feminine variation of a masculine name. Leslie used to be a male name, but it's certainly considered feminine in the U.S. now. But a boy named Sue or a girl named Jeff will still attract his or her share of "Huh?" So will a cute female puppy dog named Jesse at a certain DZ. R.I.P. One Jump Wonder

Any pilots here? I'm curious about this rare type of landing..
Krip replied to CloudyHead's topic in The Bonfire
Hi The worst assult landing I experienced was when the PIC decided to let the CP try one at the assualt landing practice area. To simulate real world conditions we had to load ballast maybe 15 tons of RR ties. The CP didn't flare soon enough and we landed so hard that my headset flew off. Didn't brake anything -

Hi Dave I'm not a pilot but I do have 2000 hr's flying time in C-130's from 67-70. Very nice job for a enlisted swine draft dodger. Bingo back in the late 60's We would fly around a nice green tropical country in a C-130 that had a lot of "Mcnasty's" that wanted to hurt us. It was long enough ago that we didn't have to worry about the Stinger type stuff -

Mr T Old is a relative term. I'd prefer to call the gear used by Mr Chapman as Classic, third generation, any thing but OLD. The OP's form on cutaway looked perfect (classic) to my fuzzy eye's. Reverse arch. I hope OP and Beatnick have some of the first generation altimeters to go along with their belly warts. IMO It would be great for display purpose's ONLY. WARNING red tag it for diplay only. -
Hi hcsvader Sounds like it's time to take a break for a while. Been there done that Definately keep your rig but if you got a AAD that has a limited shelf life in your rig you might want to consider selling it before it depreciates any further. We got bit in the butt on a cypress that we had stored for 6 yr's. read the requirements for the 4 yr and 8 yr check very carefully. R.I.P. One Jump Wonder

Hi Steve My opinion is there have been and always will be "Packers" Human packers probably date back to adam and eve. In reference to someone packing someone else's rig for fun jumpers for $$$? In 1970-71 We were jumping in the midwest at a club owned "one cessna shithole DZ" (DZ.com quote). 95% of the jumpers at the dz were vets, college students and blue collar. The one white collar dude was a the FBI agent. A father son team decided to take the first jump course

Hi guys and gals This a thread involves two different acft, produced 50+ years apart. To make it more challenging we don't have a photo of either acft, and I'm old and can't spell Acft #1 was used in the final scene of the movie Casablanca 1942. Ingred Berman was geting ready to board the bird at the airport saying goodby to her true love Humphrey Bogart as her huband to be was waiting on the airplan. Can anyone name that airplane???? Acft #2: Fast fwd 60 years a aircraft was low enough to be wither landing or taking off and we see it thru our sunroof. Acft #2 The bird was high tech, the latest and the greatest, At least for us.

How many jumps for First four way pre 1971
Krip replied to Krip's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Hi DJ A lot of jumping practices "Almost back in the day" seemed to be regional. In eastern Kan to central Missouri there were at least 5 DZ's that I jumped at that were using 180/182'S carried 4 jumpers. -
How many jumps for First four way pre 1971
Krip replied to Krip's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Hello nice lady Was that all 3 rounds in a single jump? Or 3 jumps and completed a one point round on ea? Or 3 rounds with multiple points. I'm not a grammer, spelling nazi, or any of that stuff, Most of them don't post in this forum. I'm just old and confused. I recently noticed a pattern: every yr we live, we get a yr older, & only some people get confused while getting older. R.I.P. One Jump Wonder -
Hi Amazon We all weighed 135#'s at one time or another. Nice canopy. But the container from hell, and my broken finger nail. Rigs are like a box of chocolate Still remember it 3-4 yr's later. A good time had by all
-
Hi cap A mini system your going to spoil the Yute. Can you tell us how much he/she weighs I can not tell a lie I actually weighed 135# so landing was never a issue. Fwd or backing up. The thermals could be a PIA. The PC was stable in thermals just took a long time to land for us young good looking hard body light weights. We packed a couple of PC's at LP 3-4 yr's ago same experience as yours until the container from hell A B4 that wasn't extended The second one we ever saw We beat on it jumped on it pulled on it to get the damn thing closed. Broke a finger nail, Considered a Incident report After lots of choice words, sweat etc. we got it done took all three of us including amazon. Never again R.I.P. One Jump Wonder

Hi Sparky I can not tell a lie your honor. I don't remember I do remember hearing about the Perrisites at a boogie. Later When I heard someone jumped at perris and used "the word" we got the look. Self: don't say that again. R.I.P. weather check: 68 degrees today, tommorow 64 and rain One Jump Wonder

HI R The "regulator" has failed to respond to me request for a PM for a explantation of his last statement. Can you explain to this old man what the regulator meant by that statement. I'm so confused I don't have a clue what the yutes of today are talking about. Is the regulator talking about food and anal sex? Just because the yutes do it. Doesn't mean us old farts even think about that kinky shit. OTOH is the regulator talking about something else? R.I.P. One Jump Wonder

How many jumps for First four way pre 1971
Krip replied to Krip's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Hello Ladies and Dudes. I'm amazed at the progress the natural born skydivers are makeing in such a short time these days so I thought it might be time for a new thread. In the spirit of this forum and compareing apples with apples. I think it would be best to set a specific time frame say 1971 and earlier, and include the state or country to allow for geographic differences. After numerous attempts at combat RW, funnels, going after the low man, free flying the exit from a cessna etc. My WAG is 100 jumps, total. Finally got it in Ks. 2nd 4 way at the DZ. For eveyone on the load. . Exit altitude 7.5 of course. -
Back in the day people earned patches and wore them with pride. You could look at his suit and get a pretty good idea of his jump history. They could be SCR, SCS, 16 way or a 24 way. If you hadn’t earned them it wasn’t a smart idea to wear them. You could end up having a one on one talk with Bill "Sled" Edwards Sparky Hi Sparky I'm old, can't spell,& l and can not tell a lie that I remember. Those patch's you posted pic of. That is only the second time time I've seen them.

When I was young, broke, and stupid, my Alti-2 took a walk and I didn't have the dinero ($49) to replace. No problem, I'll just pull with everyone else. Didn't work so well, so I started using the ground as my reference. That worked a little better, because at 2000 feet, you notice a little ground rush. Now that I deploy at about 3500, it's a little harder to detect the nuances and visual clues, so I'm glad that I'm old, not broke, still stupid, but have a altimeter to help. Hi Nebug Are you saying you don't jump with a smart phone, Pro track, GPS locator, Video camera and all the rest of the essential gear that is a must have for a fun jumper Your doomed doomed I tell you.
