Marcelo you assumption is correct, may people will use a 24mm lens on their 35mm camera and for example use a 15mm lens on there digital. It all has to do with the conversion factor.

Sounds like a good time for a DZ.com florida state record attempt. anyone intrested?

yep, read your pms and call me -
live fast and die hard my friend. You are a good man, you have been my friend from thousands of miles away and given me advise when I needed it and told me I was wrong when I was. You have a true sense of fair play and a genuine concern for those around you. I as well as many others are glad we have had the chance to get to know you. I'd be happy to get arrested at your wake, and Ill hand them my old badge right next to yours. I reget your loss, not because hes gone but because you are troubled by it. He and his family will be in my prayers.

I deployed at 3500 feet, I am flying a triathilon 220 manufactured in 1997 it has about 550 jumps on it. I was belly to earth at the time of deployment and perfectly stable. I suspect the hard opening was due to poor packing procedures although I wont go into that with any detail out of respect for the packing concession that was present. It was a rough weekend for cut aways at the boogie, I know for a fact, there were at least 7 in two days including one tandem.

Just ignore him, silly little troll.

This weekend at the Dublin Boogie, I had a rather humbling experience I don't mind sharing. For a while now, I was warned about pulling a little lower than maybe I should. We're not talking stupid, Cypres firing low, but lower than I should. I took the advise and understood my friends good intentions and started to pull higher, both in the name of safety and also to avoid the verbal ass chewing I recieved from my friends when I was void of common sense and again pulled lower than I should. The debate about my deployment altitude has gone on for a few months now, ultimately, I made a promise that I would pull by 3000 or higher on every jump and everyone was happy with that. Saturday, I became painfully aware or how lucky I was I made that promise. I went on a two way with my girlfriend, she pulled higher, being a newer skydiver. I watched her deployment and reached my own deployment altitude, which, was well above 3000 feet. I deployed and immediately my canopy slammed open, my chest strap ended up bruising my throat, I felt my neck pop and slam forward. I immedately felt as if I was either going to puke or pass out. My canopy was starting to spin with increasing force, I though I had a toggle come loose on deployment and thought I could reach up and deploy both toggles to stop the spin. I looked up as I was reaching to deploy my toggles as I did so I saw 2 lines on the left side of the caonpy were broken and blowing in the wind one of the two was my break line. The canopy was continuing to spin and I knew I was not going to be able to control much less land the thing. Just before I cut it way and deployed my reserve, the last thought that went through my head was God, Im glad I pulled at a good altitude. The lesson I learned from my cut away is, there is nothing at the end of a skydive but a big ass solid unforgiving planet. Give yourself time (altitude) to recover from bad crap that can happen. I'm glad I did.

You can actually have the container professionally dry cleaned without any problems. If you dont want to spend the 6 bucks to have it done you can use a mild detergent ie wisk and a soft brush. If all else fails ask your rigger what he would do. When I asked mine he gave me the aforementioned advise. git er done

ok, so Im paranoid, I taped mine. I'm jumping a 19-35mm quantaray lens right now, Ive been happy with it so far, however I have gotten a couple of error 99s using it when I set it at 1000 on shutter priorty mode, it seems to work fine if I use 500 or set it at ADEP Im using auto focus though.... could be the probelm

OR.. you drop another couple hundred and buy a wider angle lens for when you shoot digital. On my film bodies I use a 28mm, on my digital rebel I use a 15mm, both match up fairly close to what my video camera sees (with a 0.5 wide angle on it) Iwan ditto, Im happy with the results. You can pick up a decent wide angle lens for around 200 buck. Hell, I used the lens that came with the kit for a long time. Granted its not the best piece of glass in the world but it will do. Several of the pictures I had published we taken with that lens.

Ill be leaving Daytona at 830 Lori's flight comes in to Jacksonville at 1100 we should be there by 330-400 after we get checked in to the best western. We cant wait. See you there soon. How many planes do we have flying???
-
I just asked them the exact same question for my tri 220 the lineset cost was 175.oo its 225 if the install the lineset and yes, you can have your own rigger put it on for you
-
Dont be worried about traveling with your rig, the TSA has come a long way when it comes to rigs, I've travelled alot with mine both within the united states and to Japan. I took it with me as carry on luggage. They spend more time looking through my camera gear and at my helmet than they did checking out my rig. Bring your gear with you I think you'll be fine.

see my PM, why cant you get in before next week? Theres a good chance you have strep, waiting that long will just make it worse. Try calling your MD again and see if they can squeeze you in If your MD wont/cant see you, go to a quick care or go to the E.R. Dont piss off your immune system, it has a bad sense of humor.

So, I broke down and bought a flash (thanks Lew) it should be here in a couple of days. Can someone give me some advise on a baseline of settings for flash photos? I'll be using it with both my digital and 35 mm rebel. I know alot of learning comes from trial and error but I'd at least like some basic information as to where to start. Thanks in advance

Im having a really really shitty day right now, Im not going to bore you with the personal details. I can't deal with all this shit right now, please keep me in your thought and if you pray your prayers. Thanks

Sam, Alot of people set there focus on Manual and just shot of infinity, I've seen alot of good photos with those settings. Personal unless I use the auto focus setting. I've always had good luck with it. Try both and see what you think. Unless your shooting something thats moving all over the sky IE wing suit flights I think you'll be happy with the results of either setting. Let us know what works for you.

Help me make a decision.....(lens related)
freefalle replied to WrongWay's topic in Photography and Video
my humble opinion, you can't go wrong with a royal. -
The canopy pilot was male, the passenger was female. They did a good job of trying to keep it together, however she fell off about .25 seconds after that shot was taken, the canopy was out and inflating when she lost her grip.

Check out this photo I took Sunday, Im not too good at resizing them so I hope it comes out ok what do you think

In my opinion they all work just fine, for 35 mm I have a rebel TI and its been good for me, be aware though, some of the older ones do not have a remote input so you wont be able to have a bite switch to use. Good luck and have fun
