  1. I have a triathlon, I've got close to 1000 jumps on it. I do have to say, that packing is important on that canopy, I've had some really hard openings but for the most part its been a great canopy. Do yourself a favor, try not to pack that canopy any different than the manufacture recommends. Yes they do have a long snivel, general 1000 feet from the time the pilot shoot sees daylight until you are in the saddle. Good luck with it. be careful.
  2. There are a few things that could have occurred, The person who should be able to best answer your question would be the tandem master who took you. Did you ask him or her? What was their response? Did they intentionally pull a release handle or did the main deploy as the TI threw the drogue? We encourage people in these forums not to speculate therefore I am going to forego my opinion as to what happened. Congrats on your skydive, I hope you had a great time and best of luck on the next one.
  3. Yep, did 10 yesterday, well I had a malfunction on one of them so did I technically do 11 ???
  4. to quote one of the best in the business, Norman Kent:"I am often approached by other photographers who ask, "What setting do you use in your camera?" my answer is "all of them". Would you ask an experienced jumper what the best emergency procedure is? This question does not have one simple answer." taken from his web site www.normankent.com advise to photographers;
  5. You fucking yackass... I'll be in Jax this weekend, lets do it up Sat. night????
  6. Dude - I didn't know that was you . . . lol, as many times as our paths have crossed Clint, thats funny.
  7. Damn, I hate this shit. Thoughts and prayers go out to the families. Once again, I am at a loss for words. I hate this shit
  8. Could it have something to do with the white balance? I'm just tossing that out there as I really cant think of anything else other than the back lighting switch which some else already mentioned. I would try taking it off the beach setting and try one of the other settings as well to see if that helps
  9. Personally.. I see people going way too wide with their wide angles, I'd say give the .6 a shot, my favorite wide angle is the Kenko .5. Absoutely agree, especially for a beginner, I still stand by my recommendation to learn to shoot video without a wide angle lens and they add it as you become more proficient
  10. hell yea!!! this Boogie is a blast, no school on thursday or friday, and I just put in my vacation sheet for the weekend. Bring on the beach jumps!!!
  11. Sorry,,, I cant hit a girl. BUT QUITYERBITCHIN
  12. When I took my tandem instructor course, Jay Stokes taught us to fly our bodies and counter what the students were doing. During our trainning jumps he would do some crazy stuff with his body, and we were not allowed to hook his legs or touch his arms, the point of the exercise was to teach us that we could counter most issues during our flight by modifing our body position. If I don't like the students arm position for whatever reason, Ill re position there arms. If I don't like there leg position, rather than trying to hook there legs I will usually try to adjust my body position to counter what is going on.
  13. I don't think the issue of taking coumadin, would specifically stop you from skydiving. that medication isn't a problem. However my greater concern and probably that of a DZO is going to be your cardiac condition. Your first conversation should be with your doctor and the surgen who did the replacement to see if they feel it is safe for you to skydive. Are you considering a tandem or do you have a desire to go through AFF? Having a cardiac history should not preclude you from skydiving from the point of view of the sport. However, without knowing the specifics of your condition it would be difficult for any of us to say.
  14. :16: 0 perfect weather, great tadem passengers and even a fun jump!
  15. what kind of card is it, most of them have some form of recovery software, I know I got a program at ritz that I think works on both PC and MAC, it was inexpensive, like 20.00 if I recall correctly
  16. Ya, you inspried me to get one of those jackets, they are nice, and when I grow up, I want to me just like you. You are one hell of a person, friend skydiver and a mentor my friend. when are you comming back?
  17. This post is kind of a spin off of another thread that I didn't want to Hijack. But I was curious to find out what other tandem masters are wearing on tandems and why. I wear black BDU pants and a tee shirt during the summer and a turtle neck during the winter. I have a big baggy freefly suit that I have worn with larger passengers but I find it doesn't slow me down that much. I'm 6'2 230 lbs so I fall fairly fast regardless of what I'm wearing I wear the bdu pants for 2 reasons 1 they are comfortable and 2 they are cheap. I slide in probably 95% of my landings, so I wear the butt out pretty quickly, Id rather wear out the butt on a pair of 20.00 BDU pants than a 250.00 freefly suit. I Have just ordered on of the Oragan tandem jackets, they are nice, padded, and baggy enough to provide some drag for most tandem instructors, plus they look warm.
  18. You are out for a minimum of 6 weeks, Maybe longer depending on the amount of hardward and additional trauma done to the bone structure the good this is that the blood supply to the femur is plentyful therefore it heals well, however it still takes time. The fact that you are up on your crutches is good, however, it is not an indication of healing. There is not much you can do along the lines of PT to heal a bone, ostoblast (bone forming cells) form at there own rate. Like I said, 6 weeks is a good rule of thumb as far as being healed up The Dr. may want you to wait a bit longer before getting back in the air to ensure your hardware is seated peoperly. On a side note. what happened?
  19. either he's a troll, or hes so sure of his skills that sonny Jesus could walk up to him and say "my son you need to rethink your canopy and you habits under it" He would reply but J.C. you've never jumped with me, you dont know my skills. Either way there's no point in responding to this post any further. To quote Bob Crossman, "Is the memorial dive planed yet"?
  20. mmmm, yea, watch where you put your head. This is just one small example of how adding a camera to you pumpkin changes the dynamics of a skydive. Theres alot to think about when flying with a camera, are you sure your ready for it? Have you had a cut away yet? Have you thought about complicated a cut away could be if it involved an entanglement with that camera you have mounted. Fill in your profile and give people some idea of how much experience you have. Good luck, and be safe.
  21. I think you are correct Shaggio. I dont think it will fit without modification to the box. Has Wes contacted you back about making a bracket for it?
  22. I bought my lap top less than a year ago from best buy, Its not the "top of the line" but I dont need that, I use mine for photo editing, writing school papers and connecting to the net. I paid about 400 dollars for it.
