" This pretty true of almost any skydiving comp I've ever been at, whether its RW at local/national/international levels, or a fun freefly meet. Even the first ever 16way world cup I was watching a few years back in Spain was a learning experience for all concerned. You really can 'feel the love' at meets like this, and I would urge newbies to attend as many meets as possible, even participate, and get some free coaching.

I think we are about to discuss differences between "PC in tow", and "horseshoe" mals, so lets not get upset over semantics......Each require slightly different input from the jumper to clear them..... Horseshoe- bridle (possibly bag too) out, PC in, if you know its there, pull and pitch your PC/bridle mess. PC in tow- bridle wrapped around an appendage or equipment, wriggle like a beeatch, and do the "get the hell off of me" dance......Varieties of the dance depend on what its wrapped up in. I've heard of guys pulling their leg strap mounted PC thru camera wings for example...scary.... Either way, if I can't clear it by a decent altitude, I'll chop n go reserve.... Hmm, I'm not that well tanned, my lillywhite northern european complexion doesn't allow it. Plus I've gotta be real careful with my skin in case it burns.... Okay, I use a 0.3 which is great for close in shots, I got mine from Max Cohn at Generation Freefly, its a really nice lens and I have posted its praises here before... However you might want to consider a .5, or a .42 if you anticipate being that far out on free flights. I think Kenko do a nice one......Take your camera into a shop that sells the lenses and try it out to see if you are getting the framing you want, or better still try and borrow one from a camera flier at your DZ for a cople of jumps. Lummy, the drag created by your pilot chute should be sufficient to separate your risers. Otherwise, get a bigger/better PC. To test how much drag your PC generates, try attaching it to a spring scale, and letting it out of your car window sometime...... What Polarbaear said is right there is probably greater than 70 lbs force on your PC. "I'm still not disagreeing with you BTW.... " Good!

I don't see why not.... Since November I've been flying regulalrly in and out of Houston to and from London, before that (since 9/11) I was in and out of Schiphol / Aberdeen every ten days, with the occasional soujorn into Kazakhstan, via Budapest. I work in the oil buisiness, and there are many Syrians, 'Arabs', Indians etc travelling the same routes as me. I have not seen anyone being treated any better or worse than myself because of their skin colours, garb, or other ethnic traits, if you know what I mean. This, I think, is admirable, as one of my biggest hates is racism, and racists. Having lived with terrorism in Europe (I worked in Belfast for a while) for a long time, we appreciate that terrorirists look just like any other 'man on the street'. Just do a search on the forums for travelling with your rig (I'm sure you already have), and heed the advice given in earlier posts. Bon voyage......and happy landings.
