  1. Okay.......Put your rig on, disconnect your RSL-you do have one fitted don't you?- and cutaway, go on, don't be scared. Now, take off the harness and lay it down, open the main compartment, and grab your risers by the line ends, and see how much resistance there is to pull the risers free from your harness, in an upward direction. If they are in spec, see Bill Booths excellent writings on this...they should part with very little effort indeed. If you have any doubts whatsoever about re-assembling your risers and 3 thrings, have a rigger show you, or better still, try all this in the presence of a rigger/instructor, they will allay any doubts you may have.. My experience of riggers is that they are normally more than willing to spend some time with you to show you how all this works, so don't be afraid of asking one. Then buy him a beer and be his friend, one day you will need him for more than education purposes.... Cya D Gravity Rat # 37 Remember, we can do everything right, and still get hurt.

  3. I think the DZO is Butch van ....something or other.....his whole family were skydivers, and were going through a rigging course when I was doing my S/L progression in Palatka back in a previous century, when Susie and Jim Bass ran the place. They seemed like good folks, and always had time speak to couple of Jockanese kids who were flailing but having a good time. I would be prepared to wager they will make you feel very welcome. 4. Its about him trying to get it together to do a 'space jump' a la Joe Kittinger, and his fight with his own mind. It doesn't really dwell on the agony of depression, just tries to explain some of the things in his life when he was going through it, day to day experiences and stuff, and he dips into some tales from his SAS (UK special forces days). There's also a chapter about him flying a wee Cessna from the US to the UK Its definitely worth reading, if only for the immortal quote "Why practice something you can only fuck up once", I'll let you find out the context of that one for yourself..... He was a good skydiver, and pilot, and he had a wry sense of humour tempered with a hint of sadness. This is reflected in his writing. 6. Just got a whole pile of listings here freefall Charles Bruce, AKA Nish, AKA Tom Reade. Its quite a harrowing tale of one guys struggle with clinical depression, which I can relate to. But a good read..... Cya D Gravity Rat # 37 Remember, we can do everything right, and still get hurt.
  7. You ARE in the Top Ten you title trolling, text tarting, script slutting, post whore......... And I mean all that in the best possible way
  8. Ummm, was about to Recommend Brents sight too, but Quade beat me to it. I would also recommend fitting a swing mount adaptor, on nylon screws. If you are going to get a collision, or a line snarl, these will do less harm than metallic alternatives... Cya D Gravity Rat # 37 Remember, we can do everything right, and still get hurt.
  9. Listen to your Auntie Tami Kids, y'all know she makes sense. Plus as said before, and demonstrated at the nationals, belly flying is now part of freeflying. Unless you have control of your body, in ALL attitudes, you simply are not a 'Total Body Pilot'. So put the time in, learn belly work--hey, its fun-- and be safe. 10. "Or you could ditch them all and come to the Florabama boogie with me..." Not much chance of tempting anyone over to Scotland this week either, after the UK weather sucks thread of late Cya D Gravity Rat # 37 Remember, we can do everything right, and still get hurt.

  14. "Leave TG out of this!" Honest to god man, I try to, but every night she's there, outside the door, I hear the rustle of her wrasslin mat unrolling, the gentle slurp of the oils, and then the frzzzzk of zip ties. Can't you keep that girl away from me.... Cya D Gravity Rat # 37 Remember, we can do everything right, and still get hurt.

  19. God post Trent "Be honest about your abilities" This is what most of us have difficulty with, in my short experience anyway. Try and leave your ego on the shelf for the sake of your own (and others) safety. Not only in Freeflying, but otherdisciplines too. Be realistic about your own flaws and inabilities, and plan your dives accordingly. You will learn more and ultimately hace more fun, mebbe even becoming a competent jumper along the way. 21. "If I remember correctly, there is also the possibility that there won't be enough drag for it to seperate if you cut away either..." If the PC is cocked and a 'normal size, and isn't too worn out, I don't see any reason why it shouldn't separate if cutaway in the normal sequence.... Cya D Gravity Rat # 37 Remember, we can do everything right, and still get hurt.
  22. Ole Spike Milligan (bless his soul)..One of the Goons....had a wicked ear for puns, one of my favourite ditties from him concerns a type of seagull..... The Terns Mummy tern said to baby tern, "Would you like a brother?" Baby tern said to mummy tern, "Yes!
