Gotta disagree with you there TG........Korea, Vietnam, Kuwait spring to mind, not to mention El Salvador, etc..... But hey, you can count me in for a cool beer anytime, we'll raise a frosty one and toast the end of the world while the mushroom clouds grow around us.... "Also a bitch to key correctly are smoke and glass." Yup, but as with anything that is essentially fractal or natural looking, it can be cropped out and replaced in CGI, but then again, I'm sure the guys at Industrial Light and Magic know better than me. I was just a little disappointed it didn't look that impressive. What stuck in my mind was the scene before the freefalling with Obi Wan against the cityscape backdrop, it was really poor. I found myself looking for other flaws in the production, which kinda detracted from the magic for me..... The matting and blue screening is a huge improvement over the first series of films though.....Even the digitally enhanced 'collectors editions'. "Also, that flatline, at least for me, is a warning that it is too late to cutaway if under bad chute." I missed this one first time thru.....good catch Trey.....Is there such a height, and what are doing down there? "Also, and this isn't a real nitpick or subjective thing, this is something I can actually see and point out to people, there's still an issue with anti-aliasing." ou have a good eye Mr Quade, yup, I saw that too. Also, some of the blue screening and matting isn't as quite as good as I expected, particularly around hair which is always difficult I suppose. On another point..... Anybody know if the guy who played Jango Fett was in another film called "Once were warriors" (from New Zealand)? Or can anyone give me his name so I can search it out myself..... Personal record for tandem vids shot in one day?
nacmacfeegle replied to airdrew20012001's topic in Photography and Video
Yup, I used to have stock bits, titles leader footage etc, on one tape and the tandem on another, then crash edit them together on the airfield. I used packers though..... I'm now at the stage that everything I use is battery powered so I can even do the editing in the boot (trunk?) of my car..... The really good tandem guys have a set sequence of shots, almost like story board, and do most of the edit 'in camera' . Also you know what you want before you switch the camera on, this saves a whole heap of time editing later on...... I would class Josh --JDHill-- (who posts here pretty regularly)as one of the most efficient video jockeys I've seen for for a while......But he has a nice wee girl to cut the footage for him. The video factory at Spaceland where we jump is very efficient, I've never seen a tandem passenger have to wait more than an hour or so for their tape, even on very busy days..... Trent this sounds like a lot of fun.....Too bad for me eh? Thanks for posting it, I'm sure peeps all over the world will now try something similar on their home DZs....I'm thinking about running something similar when I get back to the UK, mebbe next year.... Thanks again for putting the effort in for the good of the flock, cya this weekend. Cya D GR# 37 Remember how lucky you are to see and touch the sky; the blind may only dream.

Crew doggies will generally mount them horizontally on their chest straps.... RW ers put them in a patch pocket on the front of their thigh. I 've seen them stashed in leg straps between the outer fabris, and thestrap itself (a sheath is a must in this instance for obvious reasons.....) I've seen them mounted on main lift webs by S/L frog chuckers, adjacent to res handles, which I don't like.... Generally if its below your waist mount it so you pull the beast upwards, above your waist, mount them so you pull downwards to get em out. I don't know if you got sheaths with yours, these make mounting the things relatively straightforward, you can get a rigger to make one for you... Sorry, no snaps..... Wow, that Marston dude has had a profound effect on you. Nice wirdz, however, have you seen or heard of Desiderata, which works for me quite often.... D E S I D E R A T A "Go placidly amid the noise and haste, And remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly & clearly; and listen to others, even the dull & ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud & aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain & bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing future of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity & disenchantment it is perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue & loneliness. Beyond wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees & the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labours & aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery & broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy. " But trust me on the sunscrean.. "I completely agree for the Nova and a few other canopies before this. All this is more than 10 years ago. The Nova was grounded even before the release of the Stiletto." Crazy, are you sure about this? I seem to remember friend back in Scotland jumping a Nova around about 94/95.... Not a big issue, just trying to get my own timeline straight.... I use two, a pro track, and a pro dytter, I also have a skinny Timeout (a prototype that was given to me to test out---thanks George), so, depending on what I'm doing, what helmet I'm wearing etc, I have a combination of audibles......I've used old dytters (passed on to newbie) and a couple of timeouts that went the way of riser slaps.... Either way, they get set for break off +500 (varies), pull (varies), and 'hey pay attention' at 2000. Below that, I generally don't need reminding that things are getting big. I set the first alarm high as I'm doing more freefly these days, its nice to be able to have a quick look around, clear some space etc, then wave off / geek in good time before you turn and burn.... Why two? Its beacause I rely on them heavily, a bad habit from my RW filming days. And sooner or later the batteries will give up on you...... "Please forgive me." I don't see any need to forgive you, we are just discussing things... So....Does Kurt run the FSL, TSL meets on an unnofficial basis, or are they 'officially' sanctioned by the USPA type of thing? I'm thinking along the lines of video type meets for freeflying, similar to the 'unofficial' TSL and FSL style comps, mebbe even running video meets for FFers back in the UK next year.... "Isn't a "bipole" what....oh nevermind. " Errrrr, can you say 'spit roast' on the forum........ Cya D Gravity Rat # 37 Remember, we can do everything right, and still get hurt.

"So, as long as the USPA is in charge of RW" You gotta forgive Johnny foreigner here, but isn't the FAI / IPC 'in charge' of this. I was under the impression that the various national organisations govern their sports internally, but will generally comply with FAI / IPC over things like pool / rule changes etc. I may be wrong as I have failing (nevertheless pleasant

"I don't hang out with people that 'Meek' every weekend." Mebbe you do, mebbe you have friends and just don't know that they meek and bipole at every opportunity, but just don't admit it in polite company.........Like, I have this 'friend' who likes to do some meeking, bipoling, donutting, and stairstepping in the privacy of his home DZ with some of his old trusted friends....You know, its not a regular thing or anything like that, and nobody gets too involved, cos its all just fun......Does this make my 'friend' a bad person????
