Unless Elwood Reid has done another book - that book came out about 3 or 4 yrs ago - Duane's brother read it but I didn't. Elwood was in contact with me early on - but, he already was doing his book and was afraid that the publicity was going to hurt his book. I was told it was a really filthy book, so I never read it ...John told me about it when I went to see him in Ca. while my husband was there for proton radiation. The bother and I did NOT get to have our private talk because Duane's sister had another heart attack while I was at his house. Many unanswered questions? Question which will never be answered now. First some corrections need to be made in the post that was done regarding several things that are inaccurate. Also he will need to go over with me what scans he wants to use - he has many and more I was supposed to send but I got them all mixed up with some other things. As far as Knuetson - or however that name is spelled...as Snowmman pointed out I don't know exactly what it was, but it was something like that - it could have been Newton or Newston - almost any variation of that sound. The only way to really know is to go to Dollars Corner and search the property records for 1944- 1971....also anyone owning or running a business in the area - I assume they had to have a license. As I said before if someone lives in that area and wants to do the research I will pay for you to do it. Doesn't anyone know the name of the Boeing man who was investigated in Portland as having been a suspect? Not the one Swomman mentioned (the genius). This man lived in West Portland which would be where Duane mentioned "I used to know a man who lived over there" . At that time we were in the area of Wintler Park, but Not in the park. He was pointing West. At the spot we went to on the Vancouver side the bank of the river was relative steep in 1979 with trees that were not more than 10 to 20 yrs old, plus lots of scrub trees (very young ones). If you go west to Wintler Park the banks were not steep at all. There was a low incline through out the park, but just East of there the elevation of the bank climbs. When I went back in 2001 new home had been built along the river banks I believed Duane and I were in 1979. I was told there was another area that you had to go back up on Evergreen and then go back to the River just East of that point that I did not ask the driver to take me to - perhaps I should have. I was told the two site had everything I described to the "Angel Udell" and the "River Lady". Would have been interesting to see if I was able to see the airport tower from the other location - then I would know which one it was. The place Duane took me too - trees and a slight bend obsured the tower, but he told me that it was there. I never knew where the tower was on the maps - I have been shown. ok thanks for the clarification. The way you worded it, I interpreted it as if I said "Cooper! The Icelandic Girls! Wall Street!".....and it meant that I knew there was a connection between all three, and was trying to tell you that. There is no such connection. (edit) "who was high up in the COMPANY" Yes, it's much more impressive with capital LETTERS! No - but it was not what you think. If I try to make a post and correct it - like using spell check, I loose the whole post. So I post and then go back to correct it. I was mad at someone - it was not me having a book or movie deal. I thought I was getting sucker punched by being used for information. I have given no one permission to use me or my pictures because no one has met the standards I would impose (nor have I sought out anyone). (edit) on the Hurand photo What exactly is a "high ranking official". Can you name the position/title? I don't see why you threw that in. The parts about Boeing and smokejumping was ME asking and looking for what connection this name had to do with Duane. Not theorizing - but thinking out loud hoping someone would hear me and might bring it together. By 'High Ranking Official" - I just did not want to spell out who the man was or his position in the company - he does have living relatives I am sure. He was an individual who was high up in the COMPANY - I would have to go back to the tax records to even be sure of the name of company the convention was for. I disagree with this - because that would not support all the other things Duane told me and showed me. How could an obsession about Cooper explain how well he knew Washington? How can an obsession materialize in the form of a ticket stub, a plane ticket and a bag? The only answer anyone has for this are that I have to be delusional or I am lieing...... In regards to Duane's health. Please talk to your Dr about Polycystic renal disease and the early stages. This disease is a hereditary disease that moves in stages (they did not understand the stages when he was first diagnosed and the prognosis was always presented as rather grim in those days). Duane led a very normal life and he was a very strong man - for many yrs. When I met him in 1977 he was doing fine - on medications for high blood pressure, but very strong. The disease made a stage progression during our marriage - at this time in 1986 they placed a shunt in his arm for diaylsis which he did NOT need until 1990. This is how unpredictable the progression is of this disease. He was a very lucky man - what was a death sentence by most standards in the 60's and very early 70's was a disease that took major and giant steps in the medical field during the next few yrs. I will agree that in my 13 yrs there are times I have to make a guess just like the rest of you as to the actual incident, but I disagree that I am mis-interperting any of the things Duane said. I am definitely not making it up and I am not delusional. I am the one who was there by his side over the yrs - all 17 of them. I knew this man and none of you did, but then I didn't really know this man did I? But I knew him better than anyone else. Finding some of his secrets such as the John Collins ID and his admission of having been in jail - helped me to understand him more during those last 5 yrs...but nothing changes what he showed me and what he told me thru out the 17 yrs marriage - things that I do NOT feel that I am mis-interpreting, In any given incident - everyone will have a different view of certain facts and what these things mean. I can't take you into my mind and my memory - and inside of this man who told me "I'm Dan Coooper". All I can do is relate what I do know and what I can surmise or guess beyond that. Things I have learned about Duane along with the many strange co-incidences that came to the surface...lead me down only one road. I cannot take the physical evidence out of my memory and I don't know what happened to it. Maybe someone needed to have checked out the man who bought the van. If there was money in that Van would you have told the FBI about it if you had already spent it (remember they didn't talk to him until 2 yrs after he bought the vehicle)? The friend of Duane's still stands by his story that he told Pasternac in 2000 - that Duane had 50K in cash - several different demominations. There is also a mention of 50K he had put away mentioned in a letter from 1990. Strange that the money is mentioned in a letter of 1990 ( I did not even read this letter until a few days ago - I just didn't want to go back to that time). All of this regarding the money, the ticket, the stub, the bag, an unexplained airline ticket charged to the credit card, his doing a disappearing act on his friend for 2 days leaving the friend to run the concession all by himself in Tallahassee - all of this during the time right after Duane obtained a drivers license with his alias on it. If you were me what would you think when he tells you 5 yrs later that he was Dan Cooooper? How would your have felt if you wife didn't grasp who Dan Cooper was when she was the last person you could tell? If you were in that wife's shoes 1 yr and 2 months later when she accidental finds out who Dan Coooper was - what would you think? What would you believe? I am not asking any of you to believe Duane was Cooper - but what I have asked for is your help. Such as what Snowmman did regarding Ed Huran. The Ed he found was not the Ed I had been looking for. I had found that Ed before, but you never know when someone will come up with something new. Anyone is free to make their own case regarding what they think Duane did. Ok Snowmman - now you know how I feel, but I don't resort being as offensive as you get when you get our of sorts. Before this forum gets shut down I want to clarify something. I met Ed Huran in 1978 - he was working for American Income in Co. at that time. The first time I met him he was ill. Then there was a convention with a date on the back of the pictures 1981. I really don't remember when or where the picture was made - but the pictures in the set are a convention. Duane did go back to American Income for a short period of time later on - so this is where the picture came into things. There was a high ranking official in some of the pics - who had the nick name Kissy - because he liked to kiss everyone. I remember that but not where the picture was made - location wise. My first contact with Ed was in Denver - when Duane went for his medication. The second contact was the convention 1980 or 1981 - location unknown. I did ask Ed how his health was at that time and he seemed to be doing well, but still had problems with his diabetic situation. This is when I took his picture and( he was very reluctant to my doing that.) I had no other exchange with him during the entire convention. Hope that clears the Ed thing up. Knutsen or Knutson - I just know it was a name mention to me by Duane when we were in WA before we got to Seattle. He pointed down a road - the said there was a tavern there - this was Dollar Corner. He said we were not going there, but he used to know this man there. WELL, there is a Tavern there and I was there in 2001. If the guys were not bullshiting me there was a store there which was at one time was owned or run by a man with this name. So Duane didn't lie about that but I could never find anything out about this man. If someone wants to help that lives in Washington - check the property assessors office for anyone owning property there by that name or the records office for anyone having owned or run a business by that name in Dollars Corner. In 1971 - it may have had 5 building so it wouldn't be a lot of work for someone living there with time on their hands. I will even pay for your gas and time. Sorry to say anything right now. But Cooper did land within walking distance of a tower - he buried something behind the shed they stored equipment in. This is the tower East of the tracks. The tower was no longer there in 1979. The logging trail you could still see evidence of because the trees were much smaller. He had to bury the chute so he couldn't be tracked if someone found it...and not where he landed - he carried if for some ways because he needed it for shelter also. Moneys are on fire and I come to the site and find you guys talking about moneys. I had just sent an email to a friend using the expression Moneys on fire...my ears must have been burning. There are 3 books being written out there - one about Gossett and one about Christiansen (not by Gray) and the other one is a big question. Movie rights are very questionable - that is first done with an Option Contract and then it is marketed to the producers by an agent. Some companies do their own option rights - but the story can sit on the shelf for yrs with extentions. There is no need for you guys to harass me the way you do - I have not lied to you or made up any stories. Others have done that but I have not. I have been consistent for 13 yrs. Snowmman I feel you are wasting your time regarding licenses,etc. Ckret is right - they did thoroughly check-out the known jumpers - those with a licenses and anyone logged in. Hence, WHY they decided his exposure was military or some form of illegal activity - such as drugs. What they did NOT look at was private planes and private jumpers doing their OWN thing. If you have a pilot and a plane with one experienced jumper - he would be able to teach this person without anyone knowing. You would need a pick-up person, but that person might just be an errand boy who has no knowledge of any rules or regulations...which by the way were ignored most of the time in rural areas. From what I found yrs ago this was not WELL regulated and the scenario I just described happend many times. MN was famous for such antics as was Florida and Mexico - lots of drug smugglers out of Casa Grande area. These individuals stole planes in the states and flew them into S. America to be sold, plus they would also pull off bringing drugs back the same way...sell the plane and make the buy and get the dope back into the states...hence two planes, but they did not want to jeopardize the legal plane so the drug carrier jumps with the booty on American soil. In the beginning of my search I was contacted by someone who remained anonomous as I had been making inquiries involving Casa Grande and ariplane thefts prior to 1971. This all came up in my search for Ed and because Duane had mentioned Casa Grande in relation to an individual whom I had asked the FBI to check - the CA man whose name I will not repeat as he was a member of the family, but they never did. I was ignored - this was yrs and yrs ago before I went public. Some of these operations came out of WA, OR UT and ID areas. To steal a plane it took a mechanic and a pilot to do this. If they were training a rookie - they also taught him how to bail if something went wrong - and to make the drug drop on the return. These guys had communication skills not used by the general public. This is where the focus should be to find - Cooper or who he was. So CKret if you are reading this perhaps you need to dig back thru the file and find this information I provided to the FBI. As I have said KISS. You guys and the FBI try to complicate things. Of course, if my scenario is correct they are all dead and gone - but, from the story I was told by Duane and if the FBI had checked out a specific individual I directed them too - maybe they would have found something over 12 yrs ago - when I first contacted them. This action by the FBI caused me to loose ALL faith in our FBI and any investigative forces that supposedly are sworn to protect and defend us. Why are my statements any more outrageous than those of others who present their subjects? Others quietly gather their information and present it in a book or on TV. Why? They did not actually know the suspect and therefore they cannot afford to damage their positions on the subject because they don't have answers to every question that will be fielded to them. All of their information is second hand and 3rd hand. They were did not experience anything with their subject first hand. They did not have their subject tell them to their face - "I'm Dan Cooper". Why in the Hell would he want to prove Duane was Cooper he has his own suspect. As for talk show circuits and such - I have absolutely no interest. You know that I turned down a recent offer - I refused to particpate other than to provide information. As for hiding evidence - seems like the FBI is the one keeping evidence secret. The night clerk went to the FBI - we cannot make the FBI investigate or search for the registration. Why go on a TV program if the FBI only intends discredit you in the public eye. I am not attacking Ckret - he has been on the case for a little over a yrs. A lot of this was the work of Ralph Hope and we all know that in March of 2000 Ralph lied to me. That set me into a negative mode about the FBI. I did not like and it was NOT ethical for CARR in representation of the FBI to put Duane's history on the thread when this had NEVER been made available to me after repeated requests (I have an emails to the FBI noting I did not have those records prior to his posting that information). Statements regarding the full investigation of Duane could be consider attacks on my integrity. Agent Carr is taking a prior FBI file at its face value. The file was completed by another agent who had NOT done everything he stated as evidenced by my conversation with Hope in March of 2000 - otherwise I would not have gone public. I have asked in the forum and privately for the FBI to substanciate this "complete" investigation - and I will stand by the statement. In March of 2000 the FBI denied Duane was in the Army and denied his being in Mc Neil. They did not interview key individuals. In March of 2000 some of the individuals were deceased or too ill to talk to them. Others were NEVER approached. I have nothing more to say regarding the FBI file or Carr. On the lighter side: There are several books coming out about Cooper - so many books about one insignificant man - just because he is the one who never go caught. I have recently talked with 2 of the writers - and I wish them lots of luck. They haven't got any better co-operation than I did out of the FBI. What happned with Ckrets new evidence? Snowmman: See what I mean you take everything I say apart...what this is saying is about me - and what make ME comfortable with a person. I like everything in it's place and there is a place for everything - neat and orderly (Hence a personal relationship with a disorderly person would never work). That is a personal preference NOT a judgement against that person. Example: I detest what someone who is close to me has done to his family, but I judge him for what he is doing now and not the past. This man puts Duane in the area - WA, OR, ID and Alaska - in association with planes and helicopters - it may not mean jumping, but something else said might indicate this. I have NEVER offered this as proof, but feel the proof lies within his relationship to this man and what they did. BUT the FBI doesn't care.They just keep waiting until the individuals have died off one by one. Geeze Snowman: it was not big deal - no details - I had NEVER met the man prior to that time. We were not alone very long at all and the man was sick. The brief conversation about his knowing Duane from the past was very brief and my total time with a stranger was all of 15 or 20 minutes if that long. My primary focus was the heath of the man and what I could do to help him. I know the picture you are talking about and the reason I posted it was to find out if someone knew where it was taken - I don't know. It was just something in his belonging...could be that the ex sent it to me -- my memory is failing me. Duane was a strong man - but as for hiking (during the time I knew him that consisted or our visits to parks up into the foothills around Denver and Ft. Collins. We would go to places like Vail and Winter Park, CO. We walked a lot, but not as a sport or for exercise. Duane was secretive - I knew little to nothing about his past...over 17 yrs somethings do come out, but usually our life was built on what we had together. I did not want to make the same kind of mistake my parents made - judging others by their past and their family. The major problem with my parents is that they were judgemental - if you were not born in the right place and at the right time or to the right parents - you were Trash...there were young men who passed thru my life that I was NOT allowed to speak with much less date. Now DO YOU understand WHY I never dwell on the past of others...and I just let it be. When I was engaged to my 1st husband I wanted stop the marriage - I even tried to enlist but I was too young (you had to be 21 in 1960) - if I had been able to get money - I would have ran away. When I met Duane - I DID NOT question his background. When my parents met him we had been married for several yrs. I never knew what my father thought of him. I do know that a relative who met him during my parents 50th anniversary - went back to my home state and told someone that I had married Mafia. They had judged Duane by his tattoos and whatever others use to judge people (they did not know the man). I make NO judgements - it is how that person makes me feel and how they treat me...I do not care if they are rich or poor or a disabled, educated or uneducated. If someone is meticulous in their appearance and surrounding, has pride in themselves, strives to do the best they can to improve themselves and understands perception of self - do NOT judge them by past mistakes. We all have some prejudices and I have mine. As I have gotten older and the Cooper thing has taken away from the quality of my life and caused controversary - I have become judgemental regarding others and I no long withhold those judgements. I am old enough to show anger and to speak my piece. What I do not do is JUDGE someone by their past, but by their current actions. why would you have a secret conversation with Ed while Duane was alive, that involved a conversation about jumping? What was the context? Snowmman: Why do I have to repeat this story and why is everything I say taken out of context? This was not a "SECRET" conversation and it was not about "JUMPING". Ed was ill while we were in Denver and he asked Duane to come over and run an errand for him to get his medication. I stayed with Ed while Duane went to the drug store. It was a general conversation. He asked me where I was from and "just stuff". Toward the end of this conversation I asked him how long he had known Duane and where he knew him from. Simpy ordinary questions just general conversation. I had never met Ed prior to that time. He told me that he knew Duane from way back in WA, OR and ID. He mentioned Helicopters and planes - he was a pilot or mechanic. He also said something about Alaska and Vancouver. I told him I didn't know Duane had ever lived there. He immediately stated - that he supposed Duane had never told me about that part of his life and he did not realize I did not know. He asked me not to mention this to Duane - I would suppose thinking Duane would be upset. I kept my word and did not mention it to Duane and over time I forgot about it. Ed was very adamant about my not sharing our conversation with Duane. What I have just said is all he said. The conversation was interupted as Duane was back with the medication...the drug store was just on the corner of the block so what time I spent with Ed alone was about 15-20 minutes. The FBI did not interview The former employers - such as the employer in Colorado and the employer in Al. They didn't even try to find the most mportant managers and friends - like the Ed Horan who told me he knew Duane from WA. - he worked for a company called American Income and I have a picture of him taken in 1981..what was this man's history? American Income in CO said they didn't remember him - yet, I KNOW he did work for them. The manager had no reason to dig thur records for me - but the FBI should have been able to find the employers tax records for 1979 - 1981. These are the yrs Ed worked for the Company. This is the man who accidentally leaked something about Duane's past, but the FBI has never seen fit to find out WHO this man was. The past of one Ed Huran (however it was spelled) will lead the FBI to the WA, OR and ID area and Duane's exposure to jumping - I know the time they knew each other from involved helicopters and planes. Definitely WA and OR and ID...something was even said about Alaska. Until the FBI does this they have NOT done their job.
