WHY don't you check the registration you have for the specific hotel - I am sure you have that registration in the file - what names are one it? Maybe the name was not John Collins - after all I am not the FBI and it is not my job to verify his statement. Producing the registration at least let us know you actually did look. I was told the FBI did not question him - that I was the only one to ever contact him. The FBI DID not interview the sister and I understand not the brother either...nor did they interview MJ's step-daughter (who told me she knew Duane was Cooper when her Mama wasn't home) or Duane's stepson who was still living with them in 1971. I am not even sure the former employees where interviewed. They didn't even try to find the most mportant managers and friends - like the Ed Horan who told me he knew Duane from WA. - he worked for a company called American Income and I have a picture of him taken in 1981..what was this man's history? ... he and Duane were in WA and OR and ID together...JUMPING. The FBI interviewed the man who bought the VAN, but they didn't talk to the witness who overheard his conversation in the hospital. Nor did they try to find the chapilan he spoke with for a couple of hours. If the FBI did SO MUCH research were was Duane 2 wks after he was released from Jefferson and then on the third wee - who was he keeping company with. What is the name of the man who was transferred fromt the Mn office that caused Duan to take off for N>C. to work so the man would not identify him. Everyone in the company knew who the man was -- a transfe from Pyramid Life. in MN. Duane was afread he would blow his cover - because he was no long John Collins. If the FBI was so through - what story did his friend Jim tell you about the 50K Duane had and the trip he went on in Tallahasses and left Jim with the travel trailer and the full set up to run on Friday. The FBI never came to me about the plane ticket to XXX when I could still get those record in 1990. The FBI could have got the record but they weren't going to retrive it form. Why did the FBI give no information about his guest status at Jefferson? When it came to Tommy Gunn and John Collins they were not take in files and - no take out photos and no files. Ray was there the first yr Duane was there - what was their relationship Who was Ray's lady friend who stayed with Mj for period of time?''She was foriegn and took him foriegn comics to sell. I have already posted that I cannot find a registration with John Collins name on it. For the sake of argument let’s say that there was a registration with the name John Collins on it and the clerk says that John Collins looks like the picture of Duane Weber and he believes Duane Weber looks like Cooper. OK, now what? That would be great info to confront Weber with but that is not a possibility. Excuse me - You posted that BEFORE the night clerk walked into the FBI office with a signed statement. Did you look for ANY hotel registrations and check the reports made by the agents assigned to checking those hotels?...probably NOT. Your statement makes a mockery out of the investigative system. If you can dismiss this so easlly then this statement could also be made: If Ckret says he has searched the files and because he says so the registration nor any reports made by the agents regarding the hotel assignments do not exist, therefore if the records nor registration does not exist then no agents where assigned to investigate the PDX area Cooper departed from. We ALL know that they did send agents out to check the hotels and if they didn't then NO hijacking occurred. I will address this one simple question again - WHY did Cooper choose the Portland and Seattle area? Being local is illogical - he woud be known. He knew the area - HOW? The brilliant person who figures out why Cooper chose Portland will solve the case. He KNEW the area but was NOT known in the area. He had to jump where it would be unlikely anyone would have remembered him - any idiot would know that the officials would immediately be looking for a local. So how can Cooper know the area and not expect to be recognized? Why do you think he chose Portland, Or to Seattle? We basically know he did not wear a disquise (a particial toupe, maybe) or go to any great lenghts (other than sun glasses) to obscure his ID. Ask yourself - WHY? Answer the WHYS? I fall on the bottom of the intellectual scale here and Night Clerk is doing well. I am having a hard time holding on to the bit and reins. If Carr doesn't do something soon I think Night Clerk will come thru the gate without waiting for the buzzard..oops I think that is supposed to be spelled differently. On a serious NOTE. The night clerk wants to go public, but I am the one saying NOT yet...let the FBI do what they have to do. Since Carr made his narrow minded statement about me - this indicates the FBI is NOT searching their records for the registration. I only know what the night clerk told me - I can't investigate it - that is a job for the FBI...I also do NOT want to subject this person to what I have been thru.

I am LOST. What does this Thomas Pynchon have to do with Cooper. He was 34 yrs old in 1971 and worked for Boeing for a couple of yrs. So did a lot of other people who helped design the 727. Funny, one of these guys is never mentioned except that he was the one taking phone calls on Cooper and was assigned to the case between Hope and Carr. I take to CASE on this - I will be talking to the the main FBI office tomorrow - the FBI DID not talk to his SISTER or his BROTHER. They interviewed only an ex-wife and I have dicussed this before. They interviewed the man who bought the van. They did not even ask for the names and phone numbers of friends and family. IF the FBI's investigation was SO thorough WHY did Agent Hope deny that DUANE was in MCNEIL and the ARMY in March of 2000. GIVE me a break? WHY did they NOT do the interviews before individuals died? Why did it take a new journalist getting me to go public for them to do anything. THE FBI did NOT do a comprehensive investigation on DUANE WEBER until it was too late. We have discuss this before and NOW I take it to TASK. The FBI ranks very low on the justice scale - when a citizen and a NEWS JOURNALIST were able to find out more than the FBI did in 4yrs of investigation. Had I not have expected the FBI to do their job when they were contacted in 1996 - a private investigator would have been hired. I expected the FBI to do its job in due course and in a timely manner, yet 4 yrs later basically NOTHING had been done. By then the trail was cold on my end. The man who bought the van was gone, the sister was ill, the brother was already old, the items I kept had been handled and handled. The FBI did NOT even ask for DNA until 2003 - 3 yrs after I went public! How many people do you think handled those things from 1995 to 2008 (eight yrs)? Definitely not a TIMELY investigation. I asked Gray back when he first contacted me in regards to Christainson about Max's files? If he has found them - it is news to me. Should Geoff even discuss me in his book without written permission and exploit anything he and I have discussed he would have the devil to pay. Frankly I think he is much more of a man than that - he is an aggressive writer, but he treated me with respect when he did the Christiansen story - he did not violate a confidential agreement at that time and I do not expect him to do so in the future. As for Max - the last letter I got from him he was going to California because one of his books was being made into a movie - it was during this time - there was a problem. We had a phone conversation after the last of his many trips to California...which will forever be confidential- unless that person has access to Max's files. Max was an interesting person and he had done his book on Cooper. He was entering the last phase of his life and this is not something he needed financially nor the stress and research that it would be involve. I have never posted anything but the "toutle page" - there is a complete sentence in another part of the book. With the toutle you have ONE word even though some of you tried to say there was part of it cut off and other writting there - "Toutle" was the only handwritten item on that page. Part of the page did not scan - but nothing was there that was not in the original book. The ther page is waiting for the FBI and others to WAKE up. If you think I am going to put everything out here for the lurkers we have, to write a book you got another guess coming. I have been used and used, but I still hold things. The FBI did ask me for my prints which I provide, but told me that Duane's prints where NOT on that resume. No ONE had handled this but Duane and Myself and whoever prepared it (he may have done it himself). Yet, they told me DUANE's prints where not on it. Georger if you are correct and you are the expert you seem to be - I have other things (the resume would have been very important so you will have to ask the FBI about that) you need to analyze, but I will not provide them thru the forum. (This is regarding sytax). I have trusted in God and others to work on my behalf, but all that has happened is that I am "used" and made fun of. I no longer trust anyone - to be what they represent themselves to be. Most of you at least give me the courtesy of letting me say what I have to say. I understand that you take what I say and analyze it like those pieces of paper and soil that Tom K is analyzing. For whatever it means, Thank You - at least you listen (read) and that is more than the FBI has done. Even a negative response is better than no response - I have had my share of those over the last few yrs. That is just what you guys do and I try not to get my feeling hurt or to get angry (I am way past that). I do not understand what you are doing. Is Gunther a suspect now? Do you know that Duane's heritage is German and French. His grandparents lived in the Catskills and - I think they were born overseas. His mothers maiden name was Beecher - born in Albany, N.Y.. His father was Claudian John Weber born in Cheveland, Ohio. His mother was 36 yrs old when he was born. I have never traced this - I just accepted I was told the truth. It never occured to me to ask his brother or sister for this information. I do not know the grandparents names on the Weber side nor on the Beecher side. I have tried to scan some of the documents I have. but they are few and between. I succeeded with only one - I edited out names etc. I have never learned to scan documents - NOTE: I do not have orginals only carbon copies. In my conversations with MAX we covered much of this. As I have told you before only 6 phone calls transpired between Max and "Clara". This portion is purely fictional as I was specific in wanting to know all he could tell me about "Clara". He simply told me - if it is in quotations it was something she said - he knows "Clara" spoke of Coopers injuries, but in past tense. The letters and memo's I have are of a personal nature and related to his employement over the yrs...therefore nothing I would want to post in a forum - but will provide copies privately to interested individuals who might be able to anaylize them for this purpose. Because all of the ones that I do have are typed with a different typewriter (I had a newer typewriter than he had) - the strike over's would not apply nor the typing print...being so old it did not want to co-operated with his typing speed. He always had mispelled words or was typing too fast. The way he did the words - I am not sure what kind of word to use - his phrasing (I gues) - is like the Cooper letter to Max. I will go thur what I do have and see if any of them do not have personal information - about the only thing that would not be personal would be his memo's to his boss, etc. These are short and direct so not really comparable - he always had me check these and some of them I typed (don't remember which ones). Best to do the lettersl, but those would HAVE to BE on a NON DISCLOSURE (confidentiality statement) and private. Thank you for applying an OPEN mind to this. Should I scan and post all of the typing certificates Duane obtained in prison? Certificate of Proficiency (20th Century Typewriting) - 71 words per minute April 25, 1955. Instructor Stanley J Fontz (prison),. Certificate of Proficiency - Typing, 45 words per minute - April 8 1953. So that was two classes in 2 yrs doubling his speed State of California Certificate of Education Achievement # 4246 American Government Feb. 8 1952 - prison - signed by Alfred J. Rown (not certain of spelling). State of California - U.S. History Nov. 5 1952 #4484 Prison. This list goes on and on. BOTH parents died while he was in this prison. His father in April of 1956 and his mother in May of 1958 - he was released from prison in that month but not in time for his mother's funeral as he had been promised. She had been on dialysis for 2 yrs. Maybe he did have a grudge. He in 1971 was facing the same fate his mother experienced (per family after a stay in a GA hospital). The prognosis was not good at that time - staging of this disease had not been developed. Maybe this is what was going thru his mind...he was the baby of three with the brother being more than 10 yrs older and the sister I believe 6 yrs older. Ok - end of that, but I had to get my two cents worth in about this. Things I have not told before but worth mentioning if there is a profiler lofting in this forum. Since the FBI is going to release a new profile for Cooper then they need to know all of the information on Weber and understand that the tie DNA is not valid. I hope the FBI has the orginal letter sent to Max and not a copy - DNA should be there. They need to compare the letter with letters known to be written by Weber. Supposedly the FBI checked all of this out in 1972 and 1982, but with all of the hoaxes going on I doubt they checked very well. Snowman I didn't JUMP - I simply answered the posts as I was reading them. I am the one who brought the letter up and then Sluggo enlarged it. Maybe he was seeing what I have been seeing for yrs. It was after you or Georger posted the other letter I had never seen, supposedly from Cooper that caused me to start LOOKING back again at why I thought Duane was Cooper when I read that Book. So much has happened over the last 13 yrs that I forget to go back to the very beginning and back to basics - to the time I didn't have computer and all I had was a telephone and typewriter - and back to my many conversations with MAX and our exchange of letters. Most of it is in the book - Max's involvement was from early 1972 by a man who claimed to be Cooper. The ad was run in the Village Voice in N.Y. He turns this over to the FBI and puts it aside, but then comes the contacts from Clara several yrs later. Something said in one of the conversations made a connection between Clara to the caller. I do not remember if Max made the contact by this "supposed Cooper" public knowledge prior to being contacted by "Clara", Perhaps it was all an elaborate hoax to promote a book. Hardly since he went to the FBI . It would be interesting to know how much publicity there was about this letter. If there had been I am sure there were many Clara's who contacted Max. So many question Snowmman - where were you when Max and I had our conversations??? These are the questions I needed to ask MAX. I have tried to find out what happened to MAX's files to no avail. What I don't understand is that the plate gives the postmark of the letter as Feb. 10, 1972, yet the book wasn't published until 1985. What was the delay? Why did Gunther take so long to write the book? (edit) Did the FBI compare the typewriter printing in this Gunther letter to the typewriter printing in the '71 letters I mentioned. (The one Jo said she didn't know about. That Ckret hopefully will get for us next year) Max contacted the FBI early on - it was later when he wrote the book after Clara contacted him. He provided either the original or a copy to the FBI, but I don't remember which he said. It would be the 80's before Clara contacted Max. I know the ex was "shocked" he had lived until 1995. It took her two phone calls to get her composure.,,there was a contact in 1990 by Duane . I believe this is when he learned of the book...one more reason he needed to get the John Collins ID renewed. NOTE: I say I believe not that I know he learned of the book in early 1990. He was on the machine and didn't think he would make it for very long...he started to make his amends with friends and relatives. I know there was a call to CA. in the early 1990 shop records...but when I checked the number yrs later it belonged to an insurance company or affiliate. Looks like he typed a Capital D and the went back and struck a small x over it. But what causes the tail - simular to a u but not quite complete - note the the u's were not complete in some of the text. But, then of course I as public consenus has it, I am going to make it as small u. Someone give me a take on this. There was something I noticed with this yrs ago - the way the wording is arranged and the mispelled words --- Max connected this letter to Clara and so do I - do you know why - note they are several yrs apart? This is when I learned that the name used by Cooper was Dan Cooper and called the FBI on May 24 1996 - one yr and 2 months after Duane died. This is the book and the night when the flood of memories came. In that yr and the following yrs I would exchange many phone calls and letters with Max Gunther. He had only 6 phone calls with the mysterious lady - and he changed details such as locations and parts of the country. Only those lines and words in quotations are actual words used by Clara. To write a book on 6 phone conversztion and one written communication required a lot of fiction Max did contact the FBI and I think he made a copy of some communications with Clara and a man who wrote "Dear Group" plus another letter to Max Gunther. Max and I believe the lady who called herself Clara and Duane's ex may have been the same person (Max knew something he never shared with me). If you will closely examine a document supposedly written by D.B. Cooper in that Book to Max Gunther - you will note something I only found at this very moment. The way letter sounded like Duane and the way he wrote, but only on this examination did I see something else...every time I go back to the very beginning I find something I missed before. I just took a magnifying glass to this to be sure I was seeing what I think I am seeing. Two letters scunched up and typed back over it. Under a magnifying glass it is x and something I don't recognize. Or is it something else? I am surprised the FBI has missed this ALL of these Yrs. Perhaps I am seeing what I want to see - after all I am just a sick dislusional old woman...who is calculating and all of the other things that have been said about me... Both Max and I believe that the two women where the same - I saved every letter Max wrote to me. I have enquired as to what happened to Max's things after his death - but NO one seems to know. I had multiple phone conversation with Duane's ex before her death - she was a little mischievous and with a sense of humor. The stories she told me over the yrs - leaked out things that are in the book - although she denied ever having read the book. Max explained how he changed locations and reverted information Clara told him about her beloved Cooper. Such as, Max belived the phone calls to come from an entirely different place than what she gave him the impression of. He took sequences that happened before the jump and made them after the jump - about changing his name. The FBI ignored Max in the yrs before he wrote the book and me when I tried to tell the FBI this before they went to commence with a certain part of their investigation. What I was told by another person in regards to this has been ignored - regarding things that happened prior to the FBI paying a visit to this woman. A one time happen chance conversation (with another person) that was an opportunity for a certain individual to either cleanse her soul or to add a little salt to my wounds...the conversation seemed earnest.
