    Need Help

Well, if you just want to feel the rush, perhaps you should consider just making more skydives and making a jump at bridge day. If you take the groundcrew offer and learn about everything involved, you can just take the course, borrow a rig and get your experience. In the long run, it might be the cheapest/safest?
  2. I searched, but did not find, a topic about what the actual progression of the SL course looks like. Let me explain. AFF is pretty clear: 1000$ (aprox), you make 7 jumps after which you can practice solo untill you're ready to get your A. (or you take a course to prepare you for your A) You never get that for SL. Not on Dropzone.com and not on websites of the actual dropzones It's always described pretty vague. 500$ gets you 8 SL jumps, you'll slowly get more freefall time after 6 Sl jumps, and then you progress "some more" over an undefined period of time. What I want to know is, what did your SL progression look like from your first jump to where you were off student status (in AFF terms 7 jumps and 1000$ later) and were allowed to practice for your A (or take the A-course) How many jumps did you do? What were they like (delay etc)? What did you end up paying to get off student status? Thx a lot!
  3. Yes. You have to be able to "undo" the movement. Because if you dodge a car and go left, you might run into oncoming traffic. So while you're out practicing, make sure you can do a double countersteer to get back in your own lane. This has actually saved my life once when I wanted to overtake and there was a car I had missed. Man that was close.
  4. Ok then. And thx btw. AM towers are really unhealthy! Take care.
  5. So please, why didn't you take an FJC with someone who allows low jump nrs. Thx
  6. Are you terrified of crashing into a blind cardriver? Eventually you will but countersteering might help avoid it. Try this for starters: get on you bicycle, just ride it at a reasonable speed (say 7-10 mph) in a straight line in an open area and gently push the left handlebar forward by stretching your arm. You'll see that the bike "falls" to the left (like it does everytime you go into a bend) even though you are "turning" to the right. Why do you need this? Like I said: to dodge cars not seeing you or to get around a car that stops right in front of you. You don't have a lot of time to react so you'll want to just push the handle of the direction you want to go in order to avoid collision. If all that doesn't make sense just buy a book called "A twist of the wrist" You really want to be able to control this. I REALLy don't understand why some instructors (even as a basic skill) don't thoroughly teach this.
  7. I was thinking the very same thing but since my diving/gymnastic experience is fairly limited I didn't rush in. Homeboy does two front loops and instead of stretching out when his head is up (or even a fraction of a second before) he opens up when his head is down for a third flip. While this may stop that third loop, it also has him going head down (as if he was diving from the 10m platform and needed a good landing in the water)
  8. So the question is: why didn't you take a FJC with someone equally skilled but less picky?
  9. Alright. Well I was beeing a bit foul perhaps. lovelovelove
  10. Fuck's sake...I hate waiting two days for an answer to a simple question. Ah well...at least it's not a whole month then aye.
  11. Oy, how many skydives did you, Andy, do before you went off the tower? Why didn't you do a FJC? How did you end up finding someone across the ocean that wanted to pca you from a tower? If the bridle ripped, I assume the canopy was already out? Pm me if you must. I'm just curious.
  12. So what if it was 100% sure that he "skimmed" one of the people beneath the statue?
  13. Why do you assume that? I don't think you'd be the first...
  14. If it's a known company, no problem. If it's an individual, I'd pick something that has insurance.(if you get ripped) Don't know just how much insurance Paypal has though.
  15. Well my philosophy is live and let live so was being a dick when I made that comment and in retrospect I probably shouldn't have made it. I'm sorry for disregarding my own values. Then again, if you get a tattoo with a message like that, and show it off on youtube, I suppose you can take it (regardless of the message in the acronym).
  16. I'm reading nothing but good news here.
  17. Damn. The idea is kinda cool but still... Ah well. At least he/she didn't get HIDGAF tattoed (sp?) on his/her skull.
  18. Jesus Christ (let him) post the poster already.
  19. Hadn't this already been covered in a previous outburst of constructive criticism though?
  20. http://www.sixsixone.com/Catalog_661Bike.aspx?id=a9fc2642-7c61-44a1-9b87-c978ce9f925a&product=320c420e-9789-4296-a5d9-c9478f4b4880 Why doesn't it have a plastic cup? Imagine being all suited up like a football player and having your unprotected machinery break your fall after a crashlanding on a fence/branch.
  21. http://www.dainese.com/eng/articolo.asp?cat=1,2,3,7&nome=JACKET_WAVE-V_NECK&articolo=1875796 Check out the neck protector on this thing and (please) answer me the following: 1. Will it help prevent a neck injury other than a pointy rock hitting you in the back of the neck? IN other words: does it support your neck to prevent you from breaking it? 2. Is there any chance of a bridle/pc entangling with this thing?
