Hmmm...kinda regret bringing that quote up again now. Seems to steer the discussion in a direction it shouldn't go. Organisation is perhaps not the issue here. I only wanted to point out that perhaps she did indeed tell Mr. Schubert he shouldn't jump. That is all. My apologies.

On http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-me-jumper23oct23,0,1066215.story?coll=ny-leadnationalnews-headlines it says: Also...is this a misquote or a lie? If it's not, it sheds a new (or resheds and existing) light on the whole "the trainers are responsible" argument.

Weird, everyone is always bitching about personal freedom and how it is essential to the either the civilised world (or, more specifically, the sport of BASE) Then, when someone gets hurt by accident, there's always someone who has to pay or who's responsible for. It's quite paradoxical how some people pinch a proud tear away when they think about "the land of the free" and at the same time have a sue-or-be-sued (sorta speek) mentality even when it comes to freak accidents. (edit. I take back what I put beween these brackets)
  4. Oh I haven't been there yet. Just making sure because I know you're supposed to tip over there. It's kinda crazy that waiters only earn 3.25$
  5. So how much is one supposed to tip in the good old US of A? We don't do compulsary tips around here because waiters earn a decent pay.
  6. Sigh. The exit of Brian Schubert has been posted numerous times on these boards. For once the press did a good job not showing the freefall or impact, even if they could have. Furthermore I didn't post this to show that again. The link I posted did in fact show the wingsuit exit, flight and ultralow "deployment". Zoter, for example, was able to locate it. So if you want to see what I "promised", perhaps you should have another look. The "in return" remark was just a figure of speech...
  7. It was on our commercial network news. Go here: http://www.vtm.be/nieuws/index_bekijkonline.htm Choose Zondag (Sunday); Laat (Late). Zoter, in the post below, knows where you can find the piece on BD. Seeing as he didn't die, might as well share this link. In return if you would be so kind as to answer me this quesion. If you hit the water without full inflation, are you likely to get injured by he bottom of the river, or rocks or something? Or do you just hit the water and is that what causes injury/death? In other words...if you land hard...is it going to help if you make your body long...or will that cause you to hit the bottom.
  8. Ummm - no www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=928171#928171 OOOOOOOOH HE LIED Hell awaits Seriously...it doesn't really matter what's more dangerous. It's all about perception. For instance...I have shark phobia. Everytime someone hears that the go like "You're more likely to get struck by lightning etc." Seriously...I don't give a toss. Lightning or no lightning...I'm not gonna swim in shark "infested" waters.
  9. Hmmm... I can think of a lot that could go wrong. I have seen video of some wipe-outs of jumps trying to do just that... -I'd like to see someone jump out of an airplane with a baserig @ 13k, fall into the cave of the swallows (google it) and do a low pull inside the cave -I'd like to see somene jump out of a plane without a rig, and enter another plain during freefall. Errrrrrr...let's start there...then perhaps something with a naked hayabusa turbo and a ramp.
  10. Well...different people have different responses to ignorance. Sometimes I can cope, sometimes it upsets me. This sounds more like a bad case of "freaky old people" and I'd probably have a laugh. Best thing to do in a case like this, where he's basically just worried and angry because you put yourself in danger, is play mister stupid. Just ask him "How is it dangerous Sir?" and when he starts summing up stuff just sincerely (no sarcasm he can trace to avoid agression) respond "HOLY SHIT!!! I never realised it was that dangerous!!! I'm going to stop that crazy reckless behavior immedately. THANK YOU...KIND SIR" He'll feel great about himself, you'll have a laugh, bright skies are gonna clear up. Put on a happy face. Also...unless you want to get stuck in a senseless argument which will get you absolutely nowhere, don't do the "driving-a-car-is-also-dangerous-and-what-about-prescribed-medication" thing. Seriously...90% of all human beings do not want to be convinced, and rest assure this gaffer wasn't part of the 10% that do(es). So why bother?
  11. No worries. Hmmmm...my French isn't what it used to be. But I'll keep it in mind. thx
  12. I'm not really interested in making a tandem. Over here it's just a few € more to just do your level 1 AFF. Plus...tandems are scary. And I'm afraid USPA won't do me any good in Europe. But thx for the readin advice.
  13. I donated blood a week ago. My body can take it easily...but I get these weird pains in my arm which start a few days after donation and last up to two weeks. It's a weird pain which kinda feels like musclepain. Anyone know what the problem might be? I don't mind donation but I'm afraid it will fuck up my arm in the long run. The doctors said you shouldn't feel a thing...
  14. My apologies Tammy from Wisconsin. I have updated it to the best of my abilities.
  15. When I was a small kid, some old gaffer who came by my mother's grocery store, promised to make me some wings so I could fly. Needless to say, he never actually made them, and a few years ago he died and got some wings of his own. So...what can I do but take up skydiving? I've been roaming these boards but I figured I might as well sign up. Plan is to start next May. First I need some more moolah. See you around.
