I gotta ask. Are you talking handheld or stowed?

Have you ever pencil packed your reserve?

Private messages...serious business. We don't need to know really. -
I have a "question" and would appreciate a response by anyone with experience. When you do a solo static line, you use breakcord amirite? But this seems kinda dangerous for the following reason: the cord has to be strong enough to pull out PC (and canopy). But if it is too strong, doesn't it damage the point where the bridle is connected with the canopy? Also, why would you do a SL without a pilot chute? Can't you use the PC in case somehing goes wrong? For instance if the static line doesn't get the canopy out, you're pretty much screwed right? thx in advance.

Sweet. So who's the bat?

I have a dumb question: If commercial plains are pressurised, then how come you still have to clear your ears lest you get earpain?

I beg to differ. Don't know about this IHI thing, but in my country almost every company specifically mentions in its policy that you are not covered when you suffer injuries due to aviation related incidents. Now you could always say you fell off a cliff and tried to use your safety device to prevent you from being killed, but if they find out you're probably screwed...

They also offer travel insurance for one trip. So if you already have a good international hospitalisation insurance (Deutsche Bank?) it might suffice to get a single trip insurance for those trips where choppers/rescues/cavalery might be involved.

I have seen footage (possibly on skydivingmovies) of a guy doing barrel roles with a canopy. (Front view of the canop+jumper; centercell is middle of a clock; diver is one of the dials; diver turns clockwhise round the center which obviously also turns...wow I'm confusing) I suppose if you don't roll through, you'd fall in right? Also...jumper in the movie did one too low and bounced hard.

That's what I was thinking. What I was asking was: does a ZP Blackjack inflate faster than a troll (for example) and does the ZP foreskin help on keeping the canopy inflated during a wallstrike. My powers of deduction tell me the ZP fabric has little or nothing to do with the inflation part of a jump.

Aircraft emergency exit - do you pay your ticket?
VincentVL. replied to jerry81's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
There isn't any problem with it at all Yentl. I merely meant to say, that you didn't mean offence by it, as you are probably a jew yourself (because jews use he expression too etc.) And apparently you are indeed a jew. Italics were merely to mock (in a non mocking way) the previous poster who had done the same. Why I'm explaining all this after being called Hitler, is beyond me. Ah yes, its probably because I, contrary to fanatics, don't give a feck about what religion people are. If being a JEW is a sensitive issue, maybe you should drop the loaded vocab. Tschüss, Hitler. Unless you were being ironic. In that case: -
So what you're telling me is that the ZP doesn't influence inflation and the staying inflated of a canopy?

If it was attention he certainly got it. With his post included, he got it twofold. Besides...he's probably a jew himself. -
What are the advantages of a Blackjack with ZP foreskin (yes my brain does work that way) over a vented Troll. Specifically when dealing with low objects (fast inflation needed) on the one hand, and object strikes on the other. Thx!

Swiss Valley: The truth behind the Air Glaciers Helicopter Insurance
VincentVL. replied to 321Cya's topic in Archive
Exactly my point. I believe insurancies either cover the costs of a rescue (minus a couple hunderd bucks which is own risk, no idea wha the English name is) or they don't. So if you get an insurance that covers the cost, you're getting an insurance (AG) for your insurance. This particularly, sounds weird to me. If you get an insurance that doesn't cover it, in theory, airglacier doesn't pay. Because if they do, there's no point in getting insurance and AG ticket will do. Am I still not getting something? -

So what if my insurance doesn't cover anything? Or it covers only 10%. AG will just cover it/the rest anyway? I don't really get this attitude. Seems to me they wouldn't just try and see whatever they can get from jumper's insurance and then pay for it themselves anyway. -
Well...the subscript to the picture in the left is "They get their kick by pulling as late as they possibly can" So yeah. That prety much sums it up.
-
Let me rephrase that for you.

More likely to be a troll. Also...why would you need a suit to jump a residential building? To impress the tenants?
-
Yes yes. You do that. Skydivingmovies.com. Haha...I knew someone was bound o have some vids.

Deploying in an outdoor windtunnel

Three languages you should know if you want to get around the continents (forgetting about most of Asia, some of Africa ): English Spanish French I guess you Yankees are lucky that the most popular language also happens to be your native language, and you get Spanish taught in high school (?). Personally I'd rather have an English conversation with an American, than have him struggle in French (let alone Dutch...). It's a good thing you realize how easygoing us Europeans are about it. But in all honesty...when I go to Spain, Germany or even France, I'm also hoping they speak English. Contrary to what you may think (from reading our first post), the often don’t. Belgium is a bilingual (tri if you count german) country with the different communities separated geographically (they live in the South, we live in the North). Even with the Walloons (French speaking Belgians) living only 30 miles from my door, I still find it difficult to speak French in a fluent matter. Most of the French speaking Belgians don't speak Dutch at all. So it's a real problem. The solution is very simple though. If the French speakers understand Dutch, and the Dutch speakers understand French...everyone can talk in their own language. If you want to acually speak another language, you'll need some education and a lot of exposure.

So what would happen if you got into an open/outdoor windtunnel with your rig on and deployed while flying belly down? Would you do a Mary Poppins (fly up and gently land next to the tunnel) or what? Any volunteers? Any movies?

I was pondering about whether or not you have to keep skydiving if you decide on getting into BASE, because of something I read in another thread (eat fuck skydive). My questions: -Are you still a current skydiver? (I'll let you decide/explain for yourselves what it means to be current) -Are you as current as before you started BASE? Just wondering. Edit. Seems like I'm unable to create a poll. Apologies.
