    Tandem Rating

Canidates may earn the USPA Tandem Instructor rating who have met all the following requirements: a. reached the age of 18 years b. holds or has held any USPA instructional rating c. earned a USPA D license or the FAI equivalent d. logged 500 jumps on a ram-air canopy e. three years in the sport????? f. presented a current FAA Class 3 Medical Certificate or the equivalent (1) USPA will issue a Tandem Instructor rating, even if the medical certificate will expire prior to the expiration date of the rating. (2) Each USPA Tandem Instructor is responsible to keep his or her medical certificate current I have several question and situations that I like to talk about: 1 When do you start counting the three years? A.When you do your first Tandem B. When you join USPA The reason I ask is (scenario) Say I do a tandem In 2003 but don't go threw AFF till 2007. That means I am in the sport 5 years and can get my rating as soon as I hit 500 jumps. Realistically I'm only in the sport for one year but because I did a tandem in 03 I meet the requirements. This makes no sense to me. If a jumper started jumping in 06 and has 1000 jumps but only two years in the sport is less qualified then the guy that did a tandem in 03 and in 07 started jumping again but really is in the sport one year. PLEASE make some sense of this or give a reason behind it. Thanks Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!
  2. I have both. I have two rigs that were made 6 months apart. The first one has a cypres and the second one has a vigil. To me I think its a no brainier. The vigil like you said is cheaper. It allows you to put in the mode you want and the maintenance or down time is less. Last but not least it lasts for 20 years compared to 12. Again I think its a no brainier. You are getting a whole lot more for you money Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

  6. Most newer canopies open that way (700-900ft) You can pull the nose out a little to speed up the openings. As far as the off heading, Mine opened right 90 every time. Most people I talk to that jump sabers say the same thing. Demo is the way to go. Try many different canopies. Its all up to the jumper on what canopy they like. 14. IMO if the photographer gets paid only 30-50 bucks for a set of unique photos such as freefall photos are, I think a compact camera is a very reasonable choise taken into account how poorly you are paid. If you want to get real technical. You get paid for video and still are complementary. At least its that way at my DZ Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!
  15. Yea I hear ya. I rather be safe then sorry. Having no recourse in getting my stuff back because its half way around the world. Go on line and try to buy something and tell that person/store that you will send the money after you try it out a few times. It wont happen. ( Talking outside of skydiving). You need to fill out a credit app before that happens. Well why should this be any different? Yes we are all skydivers but there are scumbags out there on this site trying to make a fast buck. Hey if you feel comfortable doing it that way go ahead. I don't and wont Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!
  16. Sorry but FUCK that!!! Yea I do trust my packer, rigger, pilot ect. When it comes to money I trust in the o mighty dollar. Sorry that how I feel about it This guy sent me money grams. 22. I primarily use the camera for skydiving. I would like to learn what the settings do and why. ( Im that type of person) I have been using AV with stock lens. Using AF to set camera up and then witching to MF for the jump. Im not liking the way pictures are coming out. Hens why I am asking here. To be honest I would love to just witch it to green and like if every shot was perfect Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!
