ANOTHER downsizing-thread..
ozzy13 replied to virgin-burner's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well swooping correctly you should not need to add breaks (RIGHT) Im just talking about the actual dive of the canopy and its recovery to full flight. The Safire will do this much faster. I have jumped both and this is what I noticed. Never give the gates up and always trust your rears! -
ANOTHER downsizing-thread..

Well I am just coming off a Safire2 149 and going to a CF2 129 And if you think it has a long recovery arc you are mistaken. It does not. You have way more experience then me so I don't want to argue with you. I think with the safire if I mis judged the dive i t would come out faster. Where with the crossfire if I mis judged it will take longer to come out hens more chance of getting hurt. That's all I was trying to say Never give the gates up and always trust your rears! -

If he wants to swoop he'll swoop. Have personally seen way too many very low "swoops" on safires, pilots, sabres and stilettos too to think your way. For an unintentional low turn, than a safire or the like would be a bit better I agree, so for a first canopy the sabre2 is fairly HP. But at 200+ jumps, I don't see a problem with it, it's a good canopy and it's no crossfire, katana etc. I seen a Safire 2 149 go 300 ft on a swoop. And you are right they have to start their turn a lot lower then a CF. Saber2 or Safire 2 is pretty much the same canopy. I have owned both. I liked the Safire 2 better for the openings. Other wise I thought they were the same. I don't think he is ready to swoop. I think he is getting ahead of him self. I would love to see one of his instructors get on here and tell us they think he is ready to go even smaller on HP canopies Never give the gates up and always trust your rears! -

They are in the same catigory for canopies. They have the same characteristics. In other word they are very similar Never give the gates up and always trust your rears! -
ANOTHER downsizing-thread..

What I was taking about is the time it takes for the canopy to recover from the dive. A canopy with a short recovery arc would be better for him at this stage. It will recover faster if he fucks up. so no it was not backwards... Never give the gates up and always trust your rears! -

Well that's wrong.... Its a better canopy because of that. If you were jumping a canopy like a crossfire, with a longer recovery arc. You would have less room for error. With the shorter recovery arc if you are in a dive and realize that you are to low you can release and come out of the dive quicker. Which is better then if you were jumping a canopy with a longer recovery arc. You can end up with bones broken or worse!!! Good luck looks like you have your mind made up. Just be careful Never give the gates up and always trust your rears! -

Not sure where I said he should ???? I dont think he should downsize at ALL. He couldnt even stand the last 10 landings, or have the canopy he is jumping at its peek performance!!! Never give the gates up and always trust your rears! -

Any manufacture will tell you that anything below a 150 is a high performance canopy and should not be jumped until you have 500 jumps minimum. Here is a guy that was in you situation http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=3119689;page=1;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25; And this is what happened to him http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=6847&string=marko With that said. Why do you want to downsize? Can you swoop your canopy now? Can you land it in a backyard without any problems? What happens if you need to bail out of the plane? Have you reached all performance that your canopy can do? These are question that you need to ask your self. Never give the gates up and always trust your rears! -
Thanks guys for the info. I already have the Rebel XT and just bought canons 15 mm . Laszloimage someone at the Ranch does that set up you are showing? Ill talk to you in the spring. Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

LOL don't lie just to be accepted Makro Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

So what. The world's greatest aerobatic pilot with an FAA waiver to perform maneuvers down to 0 altitude isn't going to get out if he clips an obstacle or simply breaks the plane (Sean Tucker had to bail out after breaking a linkage in his Pitts) when exercising those privledges. We accept much higher risks in that environment provided that an airshow line is in place, and shouldn't be differentiating between the different sorts of pilots. You are talking apples and oranges if you ask me. Stunts at air show with planes HAS nothing to do parachuting and USPA!!!! Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

Marko it was a 149 . Get your facts straight. I also have over 400 jumps on those canopies now. Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!
-
Hey I'm all for Base jumping. What they requested was not a base jump. That's why they had to ask USPA and that's why for one of many reasons I'M sure USPA said NO!!! Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

Dont forget to add that you are retarded and you almost killed yourself last year and attach this to it http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=guestpass&id=a652x Man its so easy messing with you LMAO Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

First is your statement/ question a fact or is it hypothetical? Because I believe it doesn't help anyone. If you/ I do a demo it should be done within the BSR's. We get a bad enough press from reporters that don't know there ass from their elbow when it comes to skydiving. As far a USPA sticking there neck out for a corporate sponsor like Red Bull. Why should they? How will them deploying at 400ft help our sport. The fact that they tried to run for BOD's because they were told NO tells me a lot about them. And to use Education as there mission statement is hilarious. One or two of them responded on this site saying they wanted change but said nothing about how they were going to do that. Why anyone is even talking about this again baffles me. Its been talked about for months and they were rejected. Have Red bull put up the money for the insurance and leave MY/YOUR USPA alone. This jump would do nothing to help USPA and could do everything to hurt it Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!
-
I agree 100% Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!
-
Well that's probably one of the problems USPA had with the demo... No matter how you look at it , Its still a skydive. why don't they go rent a crane???? Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!
-
Why? Moderators are made up of members. I'll bet if they asked for volunteers, they'd get quite a few. Lets ask!!! Any volunteers??? Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!
