The law doesnt really care about Websters when talking about legal definitions. I completely understand that. People here were arguing about what meant what. So Id thought Id give them a clearer picture I don't think anyone in this tread knows what will happen. Unless they are a lawyer in both states that it is happening in. Thats who can REALLY give advice here. Everything else is just talk!!! Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

Eric I know this must be a bummer for you. Have you contacted Ebay in this matter? Or the guy that sold you the rig? If so what did they say? What recourse do you have with them? I would think since you bought stolen goods off ebay. They would have to do something. The guy you bought it from might not know it was stolen either. So does he have info on where he or she got it from? These are some of the thing I would be looking into. Not saying you are not. Just saying!! Good luck with this and I hope something can be worked out for both parties. To the dealer I have not heard any comment on weather you have claimed a loss to recover your losses? Did you file anything with the police? Whats was your situation with the credit card company? And with UPS? Did they do anything for you? Just some questions that are going threw my head reading all this. Answers would be nice for learning purposes> Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

Ok I can see it that way too. So whats your and others opinion on this. I am new at instructing so I was looking to others with more experience on this topic,. Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

I thought I'd look up the true definition of a Instructor off of Websters online dictionary this is what i got. Instructor definition: Instructor Instructor Noun 1. A person whose occupation is teaching. Date "instructor" was first used in popular English literature: sometime before 1258. (references) Etymology: Instructor \In*struct"or\, noun. [Latin expression, preparer: compare to the French expression instructeur.]. (Websters 1913) Noun: teacher, trainer, instructor, institutor, master, tutor, director, Corypheus, dry nurse, coach, grinder, crammer, don; governor, bear leader; governess, duenna; disciplinarian. So with that, what is your responsibility when it comes to any kind of instruction in skydiving ? Does your liability lessen on different types of instruction and why do you think it does? I edited so not attached to any other tread Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

Well my understanding is that Eric only checked the container and that was not stolen. He didn't check all the other components. If your wife's company was notified of the equipment that they got taken was located i think they would want it back too. Dont you think? Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

Thats a little affair statement if you ask me. I dont know what Eric should do. Hes cough between a rock and a hard place. But to say you would not buy from this dealer because he got robbed and now knows where the gear is, is just dumb!! Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

LOL tell us how you really feel Never give the gates up and always trust your rears! -
It would not matter if he did or not. The goods are stolen so no piece of paper would change that. The only thing that will help is him not being accused of being the original thief. Thats like saying I go and steal a car and sell it to you with a bill of sale. The car it still stolen and would get returned to its original owner and you would have to sew me to get your money back. Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

when speaking to the gear shop. Did they put a claim in to the insurance company? If they didn't , Why not? The credit card company reimburse them? Or just refuse to release the money to the gear shop? I understand that the gear shop is upset but for them to threaded to call the FBI is retarded. You didn't give them the stolen credit card MY 2 cents Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

Have you ever verified jump #s?
ozzy13 replied to bigbearfng's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
As far as I was told. You don't need to get logged jumps signed after you receive your D. This was told to me by a gentleman with 20000 jumps and 30 years in sport When selling a HP canopy I think its smart to verify jumps. I also think as skydivers we work on a honor system and if some idiot wants to lie that much on their experience then they should get hurt. Maybe they wont lie anymore and be more honest about their experience. People die in this sport. We are jumping out of plane. When it comes to students I verify what they have done so far with their log book and let them show me to see that they can do it without assistance. I know I saw a video somewhere that there was a hawk grabbing the pilot chute. Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

Thank you. I think this is one of the thing USPA should look at and reconstruct. They should keep up with the times!!! With bigger aircraft things have changed. The old timers talk about how they would go to the DZ and be lucky to make A jump. Now someone with a enough energy could make 10 or more. Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

(a) No person may conduct a parachute operation using a tandem parachute system, and no pilot in command of an aircraft may allow any person to conduct a parachute operation from that aircraft using a tandem parachute system, unless-- (1) One of the parachutists using the tandem parachute system is the parachutist in command, and meets the following requirements: (i) Has a minimum of 3 years of experience in parachuting, and must provide documentation that the parachutist-- (ii) Has completed a minimum of 500 freefall parachute jumps using a ram-air parachute, and (iii) Holds a master parachute license issued by an organization recognized by the FAA, and (iv) Has successfully completed a tandem instructor course given by the manufacturer of the tandem parachute system used in the parachute operation or a course acceptable to the Administrator. (v) Has been certified by the appropriate parachute manufacturer or tandem course provider as being properly trained on the use of the specific tandem parachute system to be used. Thanks Jim but the question is still there. When does your experience start? When you do your first tandem or when you join USPA and are current? A person can meet the requirement with less experience because they did a tandem 8 years prior to really getting into the sport Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

Thanks for your inspiring post. In the OP I was just wondering more in the wording then the rating. As I stated in the senero above it doesn't make scene the way it is. As Para 505 stated I think it would be better on hours and jumps more then the time. Reason being It takes time to get those jumps and hours. As you can see from my profile all but the time I meet the requirements. But a guy that does a tandem many years ago would have more time in the sport then me. That doesn't mean he is more qualified. Another way to put it Jumper A is in sport 30 years and has 1000 jumps Jumper B is in sport 10 years and has 10000 jumps Who is more qualified I say B I just would like some clarification on IN SPORT and the definition of it. From the time you join USPA or the first Tandem Thanks

I want to live to be an old skydiver! oh, wait... From your profile you already are Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

Yea im sure USPA would love to see that post!!! Para5-0 is a IE Is that how you interpret it??? Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

poor gophers Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!

Not being a wise ass but show me where it states three current years in sport??? It simply states three years in the sport. After your first tandem you are a skydiver (using that term loosely) I think after you first solo jump. I understand that this rating involves other people that have know idea whats going on. I would like to clarify this to remove the grey area that is there. Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!
-
So the guy that does a tandem in 03 can go get his rating???? when that guy is the same guy you are talking about. ( doing 500 jumps in one year) That makes NO sense!!!! Never give the gates up and always trust your rears!
