My only jump on a delta2 was with that death wrap...it was sub-terminal and still painful. Koppel if you still need info you could try PMing DavidLayne...he has one and might have some info on it. Miami

You didn't know that?? They have everything for today's camera flyer and skysurfer. Thought everyone knew that... Miami

Funny story along those lines, as I have almost always jumped a very wide angle lens (.3 or so) with tandems... Long time ago was filming tandems at a dz I was visiting in texas. They were jumping a porter, which at the time I was not familiar with at all. First or second tandem I make a little contact with them on exit, but we get separation, get stable, and I take my position in front of them. During the freefall the TM notices my camera had been knocked crooked by about 45 degrees from our previous contact. Fortunately he is aware enough and I am close enough that he just reaches down with one hand, grabs my bracket, and rotates it back to level! Miami

They seem to be fairly specialized...I believe you have to get the filter from waycool. They also have different sized filters...my .25 uses a slightly larger filter than my .3. Hope this helps... Miami

The artist who did my wife's sleeve got tipped about $40-50 per sitting, with the average sitting being about 4 hours. Miami

I haven't actually timed it yet but my alera took something like 4-5 minutes (much less time than it actually takes me to edit a video) to burn about 80-90 large/fine pictures onto a cd. Camera is a 20D, card is a 1 gig sandisk extreme3. Miami

As for delivery of digital still to a customer, see this thread to start, plus there are a couple other posts on the subject. Hope this helps... Miami

Good point, very true. Probably best to do it both ways, should make sure you have proper fit for flying with or without a rig on. Miami

This is the way I've been taught to tell if booties are the right length... Put your suit on, put your rig on, kneel on the floor, point your toes, sit on your heels. If the booties are pulled tight they are the correct length, still baggy they are too long, can't sit on your heals they are too short. Not sure who I learned that from but it always seemed to work for me. Hope this helps... Miami

I'm glad you noticed that. I feel the same about pd...good canopies but so many swear by them without knowing why they are swearing by them. Despite what your poll states you have really only had a few people come back with an answer to your question (question being which reserve loaded 1.85 or higher)...putting the score basically at: pd - 2 (diablopilot and skymonkeyone) r-max - 2 (diablopilot and riggerrob) smart - 1 (diablopilot) I didn't count my vote since I have not actually jumped the r-max yet, but I do know and trust pa's stuff, including a ride on a -mz at 1.8 to 1 at 5500' msl, where it performed perfectly. I have no problem trusting an r-max at 2:1. Miami

Had exactly that happen to me on one of the first tandems I filmed on my back...thought I had plenty of separation but when the trapdoor came they just kept on coming! Learned my lesson big time on that jump. Whether you are on your back or your belly you should never fly directly under or over someone else...not just the burble to worry about, a premature opening in that situation could be fatal. Miami

Like SM1, I wear video on pretty much every jump, except tandems. For my aff's and coach's it's a great debrief tool. See this post for more discussion on this topic. Miami

Isn't the pc120 the same as the pc110, just with bluetooth? I've been jumping a pc110 for a while now for aff pov video and have been very happy with it. Have a trv70 for my video/still setup but haven't been able to jump it yet since the repair shop has had it for almost 6 months now... Miami

See this post for my feelings about reserves. I have an R-Max 108 on the way for a second rig. Miami

My concern with RSL's(and the concern of most camera flyers I've spoken with) is not about having a main entangled with my gear, either causing or during a cutaway...it's about my reserve getting fired while I am still unstable and the freebag or reserve itself becoming entangled with me or my gear...that's why I don't jump an RSL. I could care less if I have an RSL or not if my main is wrapped around my head...an RSL does nothing to help or not help me get the wad of crap off of me. Miami
-
Hehe, no worries, I'm just here to help. As to the question about whether jump an RSL with a camera setup... I personally will not jump with an RSL whether I am jumping video or not. I do however recommend that less experienced jumpers use an RSL. I personally want to have the option to take a second or so to get stable after a cutaway before deploying my reserve. If I am low enough that I am not afforded the time to get stable first then I have the option to dump my reserve immediately following my cutaway. Someone with less experience may not be able to clearly discriminate when they have that time to get stable first, so that's why I suggest an RSL for them. When are they able to make that determination accurately? I don't know. It really depends on the person and their comfort level with performing their emergency procedures. Miami

They let me use my big wings...they had webbing that I could use as makeshift leg straps and clip my wings in to. I had already rigged up similiar leg straps with multiple layers of duct tape that worked well also, but the webbing was better. Miami

20 mins, and I was a mediocre sitflyer when I went to perris' tunnel...only you'll have to go to colorado now, JP showed most of what to do and he's working over there now, and while I was able to I'm not sure if it's sop to allow camera suits in the tunnel. Miami
-
I actually find it much easier to dock with a foot (with a camera wing on anyway)...and I think it makes more of a drastic video as well. I definitely prefer back flying my videos (when possible) instead of belly flying them. I was just getting proficient at them when I had to leave mile hi (20 mins in the tunnel makes a big difference!)...that'd be cool as hell if I had anything to do with their decision to seek out qualified back flying videographers! Might make me feel like I'm doing something right in my life... Miami

Yea...4-way halo gets a little small on the Odyssey's screen...one on one though is right on! On another note...my 2 yo is highly satisfied, even on 12 hour road trips, with the screen in the Odyssey and Dora the Explorer in the dvd player! A friend just got a quad cab truck with rear entertainment installed. With three in the back you all have to put your heads together to be able to see the screen...not the most comfy for watching a movie during a road trip! In the Odyssey 6 can watch a movie much more comfy like, and if the nav is installed (and you're not actively driving!) 8 can watch in comfort. Miami
-
Ok, at least your thinking clearly. If you compare pretty much any full sized SUV (and I say full sized as an SUV that has close to the storage space and passenger room that an Odyssey has) to an Odyssey you are looking at way more money, much less comfort, much lower fuel mileage, less ease to drive...etc. While the Odyssey is a minivan, it is a much better deal while at the same time being more bang for your buck. Besides...the people who give you shit for driving in a minivan become very quiet when you whip out the XBox or PS2 for a little gameplay midroute, or when you inflate a twin coleman mattress in the back for some super comfy backseat nooky. Miami

Haha...minivan's are not that bad, you just have to try one, I was very surprised with ours. Other than the ego thing what advantages would an H3 have over say...a Honda Odyssey? I can name a plethora of advantages to getting the minivan... Miami
-
He already has a quad cab pick up...one that's really nice and not that old! Miami

Dude....please tell me you are not considering getting a hummer... Miami

Well, if this is something you really want to do...I at least hope it's not much more than a disposable camera... You could use an allen wrench type bolt. They are very low profile and would give you the most clearance, but yes, you still run the risk of getting a bolt shaped dent in your head. You would need a pretty damn big washer to distribute the load enough to keep the bolt from ripping through that big ass hole. Not to mention that the curved top of a protect is not much of a platform for a camera. Sure they're valid, you can fix it by just getting a new helmet. There are a few to pick from that you can use to solely mount a still on top. If it's money that's holding you back and you don't mind getting a little tricky...you could always go to a machine shop with your protec in hand, and explain what you want. A shop close to one of my previous dz's made me a custom aluminum bracket to sidemount a camera for about $20...and it was nice! Hope this helps... Miami
