I saw a pretty scary video on Saturday. It was an ASP dive (two JM's on the sides and one student in the middle). Anyway as the dive is going and the student starts doing his practice rip cord touches with the camera flier flying just above, a 747 (or some other airliner) flew just underneath them!!! It was really close, like maybe 100' to 200' below. It was amazing, I dont think the student saw the jet, but the JM's and the camera flier saw it. Thier reactions were priceless!!! Greg A-37958

Oh yes, I almost forgot, I spoke with a couple guys from Airspeed this weekend, Damn, they are sooo cool, but they offered to let me watch some of thier video and such whenever Im around and have time to watch it, and I may just sign up for thier kills camp in May. Yeah, cold is a real bummer, I forgot a sweatshirt this weekend and was pretty cold sitting by the door, but it doesnt even come close to -20!!! Sounds like we have just about the same number of jumps, and I thought I was doing pretty good by hitting at least three different dz's, but three different countries!!! WOW. That rocks!! Blue ones!! I recall seeing some movie with Howie Long (I think) about Smoke Jumping. It was a horrible movie, at one point, ole Howie gets the girl and is speeding along on his motor cycle and jumps it off of a cliff, and then, presto, somehow he has a rig on and deploys, and holds on to the girl!! What a load!!lol I do however have much much respect for real smoke jumpers, thats some cool stuff!!

Well....this might just piss some folks off a bit, but it seems like others have had thier say, so I will chime in: I believe the death penalty, however crude, is necessary. I believe it works as a fairly good deterrant for capital crimes and sometimes think it would work better to bring back public hangings in the city square. I firmly believe that with DNA and other more recent advances in the leagle system, they, more times than not, get the right person. I dont believe there should be any coddling or hand holding with people who commit crimes that are punishable by death, it really should be, an eye for an eye. If you rape or kill or both, you do not deserve to share this planet, IMHO. I would also submitt that it is *cheaper* to get the ole chair warmed up and get the folks sitting around on death row off the federal budget, those are my damn tax dollars used to give these MOTHER FREAKERS three squares a day and cable tv, while I go off to work for a living. All the while, the prision system builds a more perfect criminal!! I think, while on the subject here, they should de criminalize drugs and get those people some help, locking them up with rapists and murders cant be a good thing. As a matter of fact, I recall hearing from one poor guy in jail for drug charges commenting how he would be in longer, due to mandatory minimum penalties, than other inmates who have commited murder and raping babies and such. THAT IS CRIMINAL!!!

Great point, I was actually thinking (in my earlier post) of the other divers on the plane getting "angry" (maybe) for having to ride back down with the plane, but as you mentioned, I would agree its a pretty safe bet that the dz would honor the divers tickets on another load, more so if all rode back down.

Congrats on the cypres I got one and I love it. As far as the new log book, I agree completly. I finished my first one (the one they gave me when I started) and it is quite the feeling of accomplishment to fill in the last entry and start a new one!!!

That makes sense, but exiting at 2.5, I would be a little concerned about deploying my main, but judging from the responses so far, exit at 2.5 and deploy the main. Am I wrong in thinking that on a hop n pop exit, the time it would take to fully inflate your main would be increased due to sub terminal speed?
