Sorry to hear that Lisa. My thoughts are with you both. If it helps (and someday I hope it does), I've been an organ donor since I was 16....

Lets see here.... Did my AFF in DeLand....Mike "MadDog" McGuire taught my FJC. My first jump JM's were Irene Hessling and Pedro Esper. I also jumped with Nikki Eliason, Pablo Iragorri, Pine P. (i dont have a clue how to spell his last name), and got my fair share of help and advice from Kyle Starck and Vladi Pesa. And I have to admit...if it werent for Pablo, I dunno if I would have finished AFF....he helped me immensely when it came time to jump again after a several week break in the middle of my training- I had a bad case of the doors when I was in AFF (but that all went away a few jumps later).

...and to think I just spent about 5 min. of my life reading that webpage....Damn that was funny!!!
-
Thats just wrong. They should cut OFF their damn package, not help it out....

Oh my, so sorry to hear that too Dave. I didnt know him, but I know Kyle (also from the former Tunnel Rage).....Blue skies always...

So sorry to hear that...my thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends. Blue skies always.... -Marshall

I'm just wondering if there's any set way for a hybrid dive to break off. Say, for example....a three-way belly formation with 2 guys standing and hanging from the chest straps or something like that....how would you safely break that off? I think that a key point would be to seperate the pull altitudes between the freeflyers and the belly flyers- but thats where things dont always go as planned. What do you all think/do?

I dunno, thats kind of a long ways. You'd have to be pretty flexible to get to those cross-braces- but once you got there you could prolly shimmy your way across....But...then again, whats the worse that could happen (provided your extremely careful not to snag anything)....you fall!

Been around more than most though, lol...

Happy Birthday, harro!!!

Practice your body position on the ground...a lot. Sounds simple and stupid, but it really helps.

Well...no...lol. BUT, last weekend (or the one before) they were jumping (heard the pilot on the radio) and it wasnt nearly as nice as this weekend, so I assumed (I know, thats bad bad bad) that they would be jumping. Oh well....nice day for a ride anyways... And, yeah Jayboz, I plan on trying out Rochester Skydivers pretty soon...maybe I'll see you there!

I'd have to agree. As a lower-time jumper myself, I would definitely pay for Clay's slot as my coach, provided he has passed the USPA coach course. For a few reasons: 1.) He has to pass the entire coach course, and once he does that, the USPA feels he is qualified to coach. If they say he is, I will give it a try. 2.) When I jump with other people who have the same amount of jumps as me, I learn things. How can you say that I wont learn anything from jumping with someone who has more jumps than me? That is nonsense. 3.) From his posts that actually involve skydiving, he sounds like a very safety-conscious jumper. I dont see any reason that Clay shouldnt get his slot paid as a coach. I would rather jump with him to try to learn the basics of freeflying (sit, etc.) than someone like Jimmy T. at DeLand who charges some ungodly amount for freefly coaching. I can see how jumping with Jimmy would pay off later after I had some of the basic skills...but this early in the game it seems like a waste of money. Maybe I'm wrong. I'm sure you'll all flame me if I am. This website is getting good at that lately it seems. Everyone who is bitching about this needs to stuff it...nobody said you had to jump with him. If I feel confident enough to be a coach when I hit 125 jumps hopefully in the next few months...then I'm gonna do the coach course as well. Dont like it? Bitch at USPA, not me.

OK, so the weather in NY is beautiful for once....But silly me, instead of driving 5 hours down to The Ranch to jump, I figured I'd check out this little place I heard of thats only an hour away called Finger Lakes Skydivers...supposedly they have a Porter and a 182. Sooo, I get in my truck and drive down there. Well, "there" is an overstatement. There was one house looking building that I guess was the restaurant/gear store. It was unlocked and completely empty except for a bunch of pictures. There were about 8 aircraft there, all stored in hangars that were once barns...and I dont think any of them were airworthy. The only people in sight were two amish dudes plowing fields (dont ask me why, its the middle of winter) with horses. Oh well...that rules out jumping for me this weekend. No biggie I guess....next time I'll drive the extra 3 or 4 hours and go to The Ranch or Cross Keys. I'm just curious though...has anyone on here every jumped there? It looks almost abandoned...Hope you're all having a good weekend with lots of jumps!!!!

OK...I just got home from work, but hey...better late than never I guess. Glad the guy at Perris is still alive, and I'm sending every good vibe I can muster to Texas....hope everything turns out OK for him....not a very good way to kick off the weekend....

Are you referring to Skreamer and Justin disguised as sheep, or the doctors that really want to help?
-
Thats it....there will be no more thinking for you today!!! lol, eeeew....
-
Sounds like you all are gonna have a great time!!! Wish I could be there (hell, I just wish I could be anywhere but here, lol)....Have fun and be safe!! Blue skies, Marshall

I dont have a DZ specific name (that I know of)...everyone usually just calls me Marsh. People called me Gray in high school (and a few still do) because of a small spot of gray hair on the back of my head. Everyone asked what kind of traumatic experience I had to get that...I'm not sure if thats what its from, but I just told them it was my 7th grade math teacher (she was probably the worlds biggest bitch at the time, lol). My parents call me Mick- though to this day I have NO idea why. And lastly...some of the guys at one of my old jobs during high school called me Mo....they didnt want to say Marshall- I guess its too long, lol. Anyways, I really could care less which one people call me...

If skydiving is that "easy"....maybe its safer for all of us if she does quit?
-
LOL....that oughtta be enough to make them keep their hands off. What DZ did you used to fly for?
-
Oooops....sorry about that...I didnt mean for it to sound like it was- it was totally not his fault. The crew tried everything possible, and when that didnt work, they declared an emergency and in they came. Landed with minimal damage to the aircraft...it was very well done.
-
Hey Dave, isnt that similar to what you were talking about in the pub last night...a Leatherneck or something? lol...doesnt sound too tasty...
-
hehehe....with my whopping mass of 135lbs. if I drank more than a couple of those, I wouldnt even be able to walk, let alone have enough motor skills to chase it with a beer!

A lot of times its a DZ-specific thing. I did my AFF in DeLand...and they said you have to have 100 jumps before not wearing a helmet, and I think its the same for going barefoot...
