  1. Theres a whole bunch of hotels/motels around DeLand...not sure about the rates though. I jump there all the time...(so if you need anything let me know)... also, you could email them (www.skydivedeland.com), I'm sure they would be able to point you to some good places to stay. Or, you could camp right there. Hope to see you out there! -Marshall "Up high I feel like I'm alive for the very first time...up high I feel like I am strong enough, to take these dreams and make them mine." -Creed
  2. Cool...thanks a bunch for the advice guys!
  3. Yeah, I've heard similar things about them...although I do have a Z1, and havent had any problems yet....maybe I will just spend the extra cash and go for the Pro-Track, everyone seems to love those.....my one concern is how well it will fit inside my helmet, but I guess I shouldnt base my decision on just that....thanks for the input!!
  4. Hi everyone... I was just wondering if anyone has any comments on the SkytronicFX from Parasport Italia. I've read the comments in the gear section, but I just thought I'd see if anyone here had anything to add. Also, if anyone here that uses one jumps with a Z1- how well does it fit? Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated....Thanks!!! -Marshall "Up high I feel like I'm alive for the very first time...up high I feel like I am strong enough, to take these dreams, and make them mine." -Creed
  5. "yeah, if you have a different definition of "jump" than I do, you are 1. on the wrong forum 2. not a true skydivier!!!!!" Easy, I agree with you...i wasnt being serious it was a joke...
  6. "Dude, what are you WHOOPing about?? You only jumped once!!!!" Depends on your definition of "Jump" ;-)
  7. Personally, having someone do something like that to me would REALLY piss me off. I think that she (the AFF instructor) was way out of line even doing that, let alone getting mad about the fact that she was confronted about it. The whole point of breaking off was to get seperated to pull, right? So what in the hell would posess someone to screw with you at that low of an altitude? You did the right thing to confront her about it. If someone violates your personal feeling of safety, then you should do just that, confront them. If you want my opionion, I would: a.) Tell her to @#$ off and not jump with her again, and b.) suggest that maybe she get a little "talking to" from maybe the DZO or an S&TA or someone like that....
  8. Unfortunately, I am 0:0:0 as well....and it was a sucky weekend. Oh well...maybe next weekend.
  9. Last winter (when I was home in NY), I thought maybe it would be fun to give a snowplow (on a highway, so it was moving right along) a full mile head start and then take off on my snowmobile, pull up beside it and pass it while a friend took pictures with a video camera from the back of another sled. I wait until it gets just out of sight over a hill, then punch it and go after it. I approached the plow at about 90 mph, then slowed to match its speed (roughly 55mph, it wasnt plowing at the time) as i got up next to it. I slowed down a little more to give it another head start, and then took off to pass it. The last time I saw the speedo I was doing somewhere around 80. As I was quickly approaching the right rear of the truck about 4 feet from the tires in the unplowed lane, it moved over slightly, then dropped its wing (an extension to the plow) right in front of me!!! I grabbed the brakes like my life depended on it (it did). I had so much momentum and was on fluffy snow so brakes didnt do anything but slide me sideways. The back of my sled struck the edge of the wing plow just hard enough to flip my sled over and over and luckily off the road and into a ditch. The last thing I remembered was the back of my sled hitting the plow. After that, the next thing I remembered was my best friend and his girlfriend down in the ditch, knee deep in water pulling me out from under my sled. They took me to the ER and to make a long story short, i came out with two broken fingers, four broken toes, 16 stitches and a mild concussion. The damage to my sled costed about $1200 to fix. I very easily could have been killed if my sled had slid in the opposite direction. My friend doesnt think that the driver of the plow even knew I was there...he never even slowed down. The video, although it was almost dark is pretty intense....Thats by far the stupidest thing I've ever done, but the craziest is a whole 'nother story;-) Just kidding, I think this counts as both. -Marshall
  10. "Answering Machine Message for the Mental Health Institute" I have that very same message on my voice mail, lol. Drives people nuts, especially the ones who actually have a good reason for calling:-)
  11. My parents' cat sleeps on top of the dog quite often...after awhile when the cat has fallen asleep, the dog (maybe to piss off the cat or maybe not) stands up, dumping the cat on the ground for a rude awakening. Its kinda funny...
  12. According to the FAR's, passengers only have to be supplied supplemental oxygen at altitudes above 15,000 ft. MSL, so I would assume that you wont need to use it until you get up that way, although I personally would start using it a little sooner than that...Hope that helps. -Marshall
  13. ...called one of his soldiers over to pack his ass (full of various objects of destruction, that is). To his dismay, when he boarded the U.S.-bound airliner he saw something that could potentially ruin his whole plan, but being the determined asshole that he is, continues on, only to find.....
  14. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.... thanks! -Marshall
  15. I could be a little off on this (its been known to happen, hehe), but from what i know the Cypres somehow senses fall rate and altitude. When it reaches a certain altitude (700-1000ft.?) and the fall rate is still a certain value (obviously fast enough to not be under a canopy) it "fires", deploying the reserve. Again, I could be wrong, but from what I remember from the FJC of AFF thats the basics of it. Hopefully I'm at least a little bit on the right track with that answer ;-)
  16. Hmm... lets see what I can come up with here: 1.) Boinking (sounds better in past tense- "Boinked", lol) 2.) Wang 3.) Uh.... 4.) Chaunder (thats what my British friend calls it), Yawning in Technicolor. 5.) Plastered, trashed, fuuuuuuuuucked up. 6.) Going to reflect on the days events... 7.) Spankin it 8.) Dont get me started....lol Geez, now that I look at this i feel pathetic, I didnt come up with anything all that great. Oh well :-) -Marsh
  17. I would guess it was a sinus if it was above your eye. I've had something similar happen to me while flying before- on an ILS in the soup (i know, what a convenient place) it was a very sharp, piercing pain that was focused just above my right eye and right temple. (Never had anything like that while jumping though). I also had just gotten over a head cold about a week before. Sounds like someting similar in your case. Hope its gets better soon... -Marshall
  18. I know you can get them from www.ground-rush.com it even lets you design your own.... I think they're around $15... -Marshall
  19. I've never jumped at Cross Keys before, but I am a pilot that is somewhat familiar with the area (unfortunately i cant find the charts) and if I remember correctly, Cross Keys IS outside Philly Class B airspace..... -Marshall
