  1. "Yeah....I have that effect on people......." Ohhh, I take it you live in those parts?
  2. "Stay away from toggle turns to build speed." I've heard that a lot....why exactly is that? I assume its because the canopy takes longer to "recover" from a toggle turn? Or am I way off?
  3. Sheesh, I think I'm gonna move there....
  4. Justin, You can add me to that roster too
  5. Yeah, I know....I was trying to point at jsut that...even if they do ever get them down to 40mph, its still a rediculous risk.

CNN says that the status of the 7 on board is unclear but there are no indications of survivors. Rescue crews are on the way. Also said the plane was on fire on final approach- not good. Got that off the CNN website....Lets keep them and their families in our thoughts...
  7. What do they have down there for accomadations and such? I'd prolly just sleep in my truck (more $$ for jumps ) but if there were some reasonable hotel rates around or if someone wanted to go in half and half on a room I might do that...
  8. Yeah...I dont doubt that at all...but if they have even the slightest knowledge of physics then it seems like complete suidicide (to me anyways). Oh well...I dont really know many people who fly birdmen suits anyways, except Vladi Pesa (he was one of my AFF instructors...awesome guy
  9. Well...I really really really really want to be in, but right now I'm just not sure. Shits been hitting the fan in my life lately it seems, so I'm a little low on funds (ok, broke..whatever) and its a 6 hour drive for me. I'm going to try really hard to get there though, sounds like it'll be a great time! Anyways, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best... -Marshall
  10. Thats a good point, but personally- I dont believe many people will try that. Its way too freakin risky, i dont care HOW slow they think they can get. 60mph? 50? Even 40? Still dead, or so badly dismembered they'll never be able to even think of jumping out of a plane again. Once everyone sees how much of a failure that will be, I dont think too many more will try it. Like you said, theres a threshold that shouldnt be crossed, and I think most experienced skydivers can recognize it. If their stupid enough to attempt to land a wingsuit on ANYTHING, be it water, snow or land then thats gonna be their and their family's problem. Just my .02... -Marshall
  11. How come the ball cant take out the belly flyers?...
  12. And yet another amusing mental image courtesy of AggieDave, lol...
  13. "can you imagine hitting a rock/stick/rodent..." hahahhaha, i just saw the rodent part. That was the funniest mental pic I've had in a while. Guy in birdman suit haulin ass down a snowy slope. Completely unsuspecting squirrel gets up from hibernation to stretch and gets its head ripped off by birdman's foot as it leaves its hole. LOL....sheesh, I think i'm getting tired...
  14. oh man, what the hell. If I'd have known that, I would have been able to jump about 6 extra times in the past few months. Seems like every time I take a late one back, its the same damn day, just after the time on the reciept. Shit.
  15. lol....me too. Good stuff...
  16. Yeah, but AggieDave has a point. A rock would hurt...even with "armor", lol. And smooth, long, straight slopes are somewhat rare...
  17. Powder that is.....hard packed snow is just as hard as dirt...trust me, I know.
  18. If I were a betting man, and if they were smart...they might consider snow
  19. I know how you feel man. I just dropped outta one of the best (although I dont quite agree) colleges in the country for my degree (Aeronautical Science)....cause I couldnt afford to keep going there. Now here I am, back in the absolute shithole freaking town I grew up in which i ABSOLUTELY HATE and I have no good job (I'm a ski instructor=shitty pay), no money, and no decent dropzone within a 4 hour drive. Oh yeah...and for the two semesters I was at that school, the bill is over $30K. Because of that, I probably wont be transferring anywhere anytime soon, and besides, I've lost all motivation to go to college anywhere after that place. Yeah, I'm f$#@ed. On the flip side, I should have all the rest of my FAA ratings (Commercial, multi, CFII/MEI) within the next 4 to 6 months. Hopefully I can get a decent flying job (as decent as possible with no degree) someplace near a nice DZ and far far far away from here so I can make enough to live a little and jump a lot (yeah, I know, I'm dreamin- but hey...it'll happen someday, so what if its in the afterlife? ). Anyways, think happy thoughts (jump run, freefall, blue skies, beer, boobies, etc. etc.) and hang in there man, things will get better. Peace, Marshall
  20. It could be just me and my retardedness (more than likely)...but I'm a little confused. Can you clarify a little more?
  21. But seriously, he makes an excellent point...
  22. I've never seen an actual list, BUT: I'm guessing that we could come up with a pretty kickass list between everyone here. The only tunnel I've ever been to is SkyVenture in Orlando (www.skyventure.com).
  23. "BOOBIES!" YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats it....no more depressing stuff!
  24. Yeah, I'm gonna try out Frontier sometime I think. I heard a rumor that Rochester Skydivers was closed or closing....maybe it was just a rumor. Anyways....despite being a far drive away from any big DZ's, I can put some of those FAA ratings to work and fly down to the ranch, or Cross Keys...
