Jules will be coming to our dz for those tandems and you can be sure that if 10 show up, they will be getting a discount. The only time our tandem instructors have been tipped in the last 1 1/2 is when my aunt and I did our tandems and the lady that puked on Marty. Better than a tip, bring a case or two of beer. That will go over FAR better than any tip! Better yet, come out on Friday night, hang with us (you can stay at the dz for free--floor space at the least, or camp out--plenty of space for that), and enjoy the time. All too often we get tandem passengers that show up 5 minutes before their appointment and are our the door as soon as the harness is off. We would far rather have you guys hang out, enjoy everything about this sport and have a great experience than for you to think you need to dish out more than what's listed. Edited to add: We are a non-profit club dz so tipping might be expected at some dz's where TI's and instructors are making their living. None of our skydivers are making their living off skydiving (not even the dzo's).

Do you need some sand remover? What happened to my response????? It was "Doh....hahahahahaha". Duh...hahahahaha! Depends. How coarse is your tongue? There's already plans to find something else over the summer, but I could possibly convinced to head a certain direction. Please PM with your best offer!!! I work hard every day at teaching myself to lick my eyebrows.

All I have to say is when people tell you that 20 minutes in the tunnel over 2 days is plenty for your first time in the tunnel and that anymore than that and you'll be too sore...tell them to go to hell. I was at the Denver tunnel with Todd (L.O.) and Bill (rehmwa) this weekend. Going off of advice I only got 20 minutes. I wasn't sore AT ALL and kicked my self for listening to those people. I wish I would have gotten 30 minutes each day. It seemed like I would just start making progress and my time was over.

New Jumper here... anyone else from Wisconsin?
wildfan75 replied to JumpinJules's topic in Introductions and Greets
Welcome! Where are you doing AFF? I jump out of Skydive Wissota in Chippewa Falls. We just do S/L and if you haven't already looked into it, you might. We can get you to your class A license (all 25 jumps including gear, instruction, teaching you how to pack...everything) for about $740. At Wissota you don't have to pay for coaching or other people's slots. We a small non-profit Cessna 182 dz and after you get your own rig, jumps from 10k are only $14. And our instructors are world class. Have fun and after your done with AFF, make sure you come and jump with us! Also, one of your pilots is from LaCrosse. Maybe you could car pool with him every once in awhile. Have fun and be safe!!!! -
Let me know where your staying. I could try to fit one in or at least let you know where some good places are.

:0:1:20 It's been quite awhile since I didn't spend the weekend at the dz but made up for it by owing a case of beer for my first 20 minutes in the tunnel. Can't wait until next weekend to try out all the things I learned!
-
Chocolate chip cookies and turkey and roast beef sandwiches. Didn't get to do much else. Pretty much spent the weekend at the tunnel. I learned a ton but I was pissed that a lot of people told me that 20 minutes for my first time in the tunnel is plenty, and that I'll just be too sore to do anymore than that. I could have easily done 45-60 minutes, and totally wish I would have. I felt like I was just starting to make good progress and then, bam, all done. Biggest thing I probably need to work on is flying with my legs closer together. Sometimes flexibility is a bitch. Hopefully this same group will do this again next year! (Thanks again Nick and Sandy!!).

We made it to Denver with only one road side consultation. (a nice big FU to the Iowa State Patrol!!!). Jewel--I have a session tonight too. Todd's first session is at 4:30pm and we'll be at the tunnel until like midnight. Definitely look for me. I'll be the one that everyone that works for the tunnel complains about all the energy they are using by having to crank the fans up to ultra high so I can off the net (my fall rate suuuucks!). And it's friggin' warm here!!! Went out for a smoke in shorts, a t-shirt and bare feet and wasn't cold. Woo Hoo!!!!!!!

WARNING: NEWBIE RESPONSE You've been in the sport for 11 jumps and your girlfriend has seen a couple of cutaways??? Wow...that would be 'cause for concern, for me anyway. I've got 160 some jumps and have only seen 2 cutaways (not including my accident reserve handle pull on jump #6 two out incident). Granted we are a little 182 dz, but that seems like a lot to me.

...I am all set for my first tunnel trip! There are a bunch of us from Wissota and a bunch more from Skydive Iowa ready to invade the Denver tunnel this weekend! I am pumped! Not so much for the 13 hour car ride there, but for the equivelant of about 30 freefalls worth of time. And yes, I'm fully aware of the beer word in my post. Woo hoo!!!

Either that or get the sand out of your vagina, put on a few layers and jump! Minnesota isn't far from Canada (in fact, some people think Puerto Rico is actually the 50th state and that the US sold off Minnesota to Canada so Canada could remain competative in hockey with the Europeans) so I know cold too. Very much looking forward to a nice warm 50F day so I can start wearing shorts and a t-shirt under my jumpsuit again. Editted to add: And to do another nekkid jump!!!!!

Pre-Boarding Pics and post them If you got.....
wildfan75 replied to FlyinDawg's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This picture was taken on our Skydive Chicago trip Thanksgiving Day weekend. I think it looks like it was taken from the Armageddon movie. (I'm the one just getting into the Otter with the blue shirt and black rig--due to ear problems I was subject to only hnp's). -
I'd hardly call Wisconsin weather awesome. I made the two hour one way drive to the dz every weekend except two since I started. I've jumped through winter. So basically I've kept the sand in my vagina to a minimum, pulled up the skirt, shut up and jumped! And financially, I wouldn't have been able to get anywhere close to 200 without going the static line route and jumping where I jump. I owe everything to about six people at Skydive Wissota!

Is 1 year and 1 day in the sport considered...
wildfan75 replied to wildfan75's topic in The Bonfire
Some would say that she was nine months old ish Dave Uh oh. I can see where this is going. Way to turn my innocent thread into an abortion issue and get it moved to the speaker's corner! Let the discussion begin on whether a human being is a person immediately after conception or at birth!!! -

Is 1 year and 1 day in the sport considered...
wildfan75 replied to wildfan75's topic in The Bonfire
I wasn't trying to claim anything that I don't have yet, just trying to figure out what is proper and putting 2 years didn't seem right. I actually have more than 160 jumps. That number doesn't include my 2 tandems or my 5 s/l jumps. I could use my s/l jumps in my number, but that pushes my skyversary back to 4/22. S/L jumps are just as valid of jumps as AFF, if they weren't they wouldn't count towards licenses, but my 1st FF is like the day I was born. It was like kicking the training wheels off the bike and really riding it. -

wildfan75 replied to wildfan75's topic in The Bonfire
I did my first freefall on 5/5/06, and as my skyversary approaches, I'm trying to decide if, after my 1st skyversary, I should still have my profile as 1 year in the sport or should I edit it to say that I have 2 years in the sport. So, what do you think? Do you consider 1 year and 1 day as 1 or 2 years in the sport? And don't worry, I will shut up and jump! I'm trying very hard to hit 200 by 5/5/07. Any financial contrabutions to my quest are appreciated -
We're having our own little heat wave here in Minnesota. The news station is reporting that its 21F out, but I swear it feels more like 35F. Can't wait for the weekend!!! Mmmm...skydiving without having to worry about my faceshield fogging or icing up or if I should wear liners under my NorthFace Wind Stopper winter gloves!

If you need recipes, PM me. They don't call me "Crock Pot Lynn" at the dz for nothin'!
