  1. WTF...I'm the only one, so far, that says Cash It!???? Cash it....wait a few months, and if they don't come after you, decide if you want a new container, main or reserve!
  2. I can't believe no one has said Dickel yet! I drank an entire bottle one night with another skydiver and man...was I sick that night and the day after! But damn, that stuff is smooooooth!
  3. Flipping the cat! Edited to add: Either the actual dive or you could techically bring a cat with you and flip it in freefall. You could contact the local humane society the day before "kill day" and probably get a good price on one.
  4. No, Birkhead is a photographer. He's the blonde. You're thinking of Howard K. Stern. He's the lawyer, and most decidingly not the father. I guess the $620,000 is lawyers fees has paid off, seeing that Larry now stands to inherit millions as the father. Hopefully he'll provide a more stable environment for her to grow up in than the path that she was on.
  5. That she has very low self esteem, because if my man ever cheated on me, he would not be forgiven. He'd be D U N...DONE!

  7. Skydive Wissota: Chippewa Falls, WI $235 (with coupon from our website at www.skydivewissota.org) for S/L class and 5 S/L jumps 20 jump package $500 (otherwise $30 a jump--$5/jump discount when you buy the package) $735 to get you to your class A (25 jumps) (includes gear, "coaching", learning how to pack, some video, everything). We're also a small 182 non-commercial club. After you get your own rig, jumps from 10k' are $14 and it goes down (or up) a $1 for every 1000'.
  8. Ask if they have any instructors that are AFF certified and see if they can do a modified AFF jump with you to see if you can work some of your issues out and gain some confidence. We're a S/L dz but have a few instructors with their AFF rating and if people are having issues, depending on the issues, they'll go up and do a modified AFF jump from full altitude that focuses on the issues that you're having. Mixing it up might spark something for your and might suddenly make it click for you. Keep at it, be safe and HAVE FUN!
  9. As I told Just Chute Me yesterday, I'm going to try to get some people from Wissota this summer to make the short road trip to Seven Hills. We'll look for your both. Just Chute Me---You're my Seven Hills counterpart. I also am a club member (I think I joined just before I got my class A though) and was recently bestowed club secretary. We'll definitely have to have an "Officers" jump!
  10. You are jumping with s/l and aff certified instructors and yes, they are doing it for free. We have 3 182s. And before you sign on the dotted line to open up a dz, the owner of the planes (whose also a lifetime skydiver) is digging deep into his own pockets to help pay for 2 new engines. So unless you have a good paying full time job, probably not going to work. Oh, and just to clarify. The 20 jump package is not a "camp". You purchase 20 jumps and go at your own pace. We don't have staff or resources to be open 7 or even 5 days a week to do "camps". Edited to add: If Bob would have raised jump ticket prices to cover the new engines, no one would have said boo (well, we probably would have grumbled a little, but we'd completely understand and not have an issue with it).
  11. Coaches don't get paid (and we really don't have coaches. Jamie just got her coach rating but it was so she could get her S/L instructor rating). We all donate our time to keep costs down. I manifest, clean and pack student rigs as my share and when I finally get an instructor rating, I'll be helping and jumping with new students on my dime. It's called paying it forward. I never jumped alone (maybe once or twice when I went up as a 4th on a tandem with video load, but it was my choice). Otherwise you're jumping with (obviously) at least one instructor. The only people that get paid are the S/L class instructor (I think he gets like $5-10 a person if that) and jump masters for S/L students ($5 a jumper so if they take a load of three S/L students, they get like $5 ($15 for jumpmastering minus their $9-10 jump ticket). I can't believe that people can understand and accept that it's normal to pay thousands of dollars for 10 jumps but can't understand and don't believe me when I say that it doesn't have to be that way. It's sad really. If I had to pay a couple of grand to get through AFF I probably would have went back to playing hockey instead. I thank God everyday that I found Wissota. And I want to be sure that everyone knows about it so they can benefit from it to and we don't have to keep having threads with titles like, "Why are USPA numbers down?" Obviously answer---because no one can afford it anymore!
  12. Errr...boating? I give you six months or less in the sport before the boat is for sale. Have fun!!!
  13. No it's not. $735 will get you 25 jumps at Wissota. Plain and simple, and that does include everything gear, instruction, some video, packing lessons, etc. Are you expected to start looking for your own gear (not necessarily a rig, but at least an altimeter, jumpsuit, helmet) if you're going to continue? Yes, but if all you want is 25 jumps, then $735 (with the coupon from our website) is what it's going to cost you. There is absolutely nothing debateable about my statement. It is fact. 100%. If it is too unbelievable to be true...then sorry that the sport has not been as good to you as it has been to me. How do they feel they were deceived? What do you think they are misunderstanding?
  14. No one has financial interest in Wissota. Although I'm sure that Bob would appreciate not having to dig in his pocket to help pay for the two new engines for X-Ray and Romeo this year. I certainly don't make anything by tooting their horn, not even a free jump. I do it because the more people that jump at Wissota, the more people I'll have to jump with and for purely the love of the sport.
  15. I got my class A license (25 jumps) for $735 and no, it's not deception. And am I far from being a prodigy. Maybe via AFF it's impossible, but not doing S/L progression at Skydive Wissota it's not. S/L class with 5 jumps is $235 with the $5 coupon on our website. The 20 jump package is $500 and it includes gear, instruction, coaching, EVERYTHING. We teach you how to pack (no packing class that you have to take and pay for). It's not deception, it's not a farse. It's fact. Feel free to visit our website at www.skydivewissota.org and take a look for yourself. Otherwise, you can also call the dropzone on the weekends and talk to any of our skydivers. Ok...I take that back, I lied. I didn't get my class A license for $735 (25 jumps). I got my class A license for $760 (26 jumps). I was suppose to do my check dive on jump #25 and got talked into doing a four way instead with two world teamers and another guy with 3,000 jumps (you shouldn't really say no to a four way with a jump total of 27,025 jumps), so I had to pay an extra $25 to do my check dive for #26. It is possible. And that's the bottom line. Editted to add: Just kidding..website is fine. Must have been my connection.
  16. Welcome!!! I see you're from "Madison". If that's Madison, WI, take a look at S/L with Skydive Wissota (Chippewa Falls). We'll get you to 25 jumps for $735. That includes EVERYTHING (gear, instruction, some video, packing lessons...everything you will need to get to class A). We do have a skydiver that goes to UW-Madison and you could car pool sometimes so you could save some money there...for jumping of course. 25 jumps are 25 jumps whether you're S/L or AFF. And you'll be jumping with 2 World Teamers, and others that I have thousands of jumps. Unless you're doing a hop n pop of course. You'll always be jumping with another jumper or more (I had three four ways before I got my class A license). Might want to check to see if that $2400 is AFF jumps to graduation and then solos from there on out (coaching, gear, etc, extra?). Plus, you can jump by yourself right off the bat (there are AFF programs that don't require a tandem), although I would recommend a tandem to start with so you have an idea of exit/freefall, skydiving, landing, etc). No matter what you do, HAVE FUN!!!!! And welcome to skydiving...more addictive and more expensive than crack! But then again...as Whitney Houstan put it, "Crack is Whack!"...skydiving is much better!
  17. I wish I would have bought stock in SSE in November 1974! But I suppose not being born yet at that time would have been an issue. If only all you guys that were jumping at the time would have hid your Parachutists from from your wives/GFs, I bet there would have been a lot less letters. Let it be known...Wildfan75 will model altimeters for jump tickets, but altimeters must be big (the girls are D's)! Resume will include mud wrestling pictures and an alternative use of sea shells. Edited to add: Natural D's (well, according to Victoria Secret. And I lost 60lbs in '05 and the only place I didn't lose it was my boobs, so I'm pretty sure they'll always be that way).
  18. Ah...Bob Stumm. Yes, he's still around and he has done it once or twice before. The trick is come on a weekend when he's not off doing 200 ways in Z-Hills, or 400 ways in Thailand, or going to Eloy for spring break. He doesn't travel much during the summer though (wants to keep an eye on his planes), so he should be around for the most part. If you don't make it down to Wissota, you could mail me your log book and I'll get it signed and get it mailed back to you. If you're log book is anything like mine though you won't want to do that. Maybe you could tear that page out and send it. But you should totally try to make it to Wissota!!!! Let me know if you do.
  19. It happens at my dz. Highly qualified instructors, two of which are World Teamers. They do it all for free, for the love of the sport, knowing, or rather hoping that a few that will continue to jump will eventually get good enough to do the same and pay it forward. All our instructors, every single one of them, are weekend warriors. Everyone gets up on Monday morning and heads to their regular job. They wouldn't be able to afford to do things like go to Thailand to break world records, break Texas state records (the jumper with the highest jump number no less), head to the Denver tunnel so they could get better and therefore be a better instructor, if they didn't have their full time jobs. Does that make them any less of a skydiver, any less of an instructor? No. IMO, it makes them more admirable and respectable than someone sitting back complaining because they're skydiving job doesn't provide a 401K. I know I've only been in the sport a short while and I only have a few jumps, but I'm just as passionate about this sport as anyone here. I live, breathe and dream for the weekend so I can jump. But it is a sport. Sure it's a little different in nature than say hockey or soccer or baseball, but it is a sport. How much do you think youth coaches are making to coach the local baseball team? Probably nothing, and certainly not enough to ever make it their career. Sure we have pro teams where coaches make a living. But they are coaching professional, and those professionals are getting paid to play. I'd equate that to teams like Arizona Airspeed, and the Golden Knights. They are professionally paid skydivers who are coached by professionally paid instructors. Not a youth league team who's coach is trying to make a living off coaching them.
  20. Skydive Wissota is the dz in CF, about 10-15 north of Eau Claire. We're probably the little dz that you did your tandem at. Who was your TI? Let me know if you make it up/down/over from wherever you're coming from.
  21. Oh, just have a low pull contest. Don't forget to turn off your AAD's. And if both of you have medical bills after, then the one with the cheapest medical bills wins. Far easier to judge.
  22. I don't know about different sizes but the right one is definitely going to hit the waste line before the left. Unless she has the implants taken out before then.
  23. Absolutely that's possible. They might have to throw you out of the plane before the tandem goes up to full altitude but you'll be jumping by yourself! I did my S/L class 4/22/06 and was doing freefalls by 5/5/06. Oh, and one thing I forgot in the PM, static line jumps count towards your class A. So 5 s/l and 20 freefalls (assuming you get all your canopy and ff requirements in) and you're licensed!
