  1. I voted "other". I jump an old Vector II, bought used just after I got my A license. It was inexpensive, airworthy and fit me. After the house sells, I will use a bit of the proceeds to buy a new container, which will be a Wings. I've heard nothing but good things about Wings (except the reserve handle comments here).
  2. She already is! Her 30 second delay was a two way with a 13,000+ jump World Team member with video. Cost of jump for Julie: $25 (including gear). She did a number of 180s! And they were beautiful...way to go Julie!!!! Woop woop!! I loved watching your 20 second from the plane. I can't wait for another 10 or 15 jumps when you'll be doing 4 ways. I'm so going to be on that! See you on Sunday!
  3. 2:1:1 Damn winds!!! Pretty much kept us grounded on Saturday and Sunday. Beer owed for shooting my first hand gun(s). I got to shoot about seven different ones and my favorite was the 44 maginum (Colt Anaconda). I gotta get me one of those!
  4. Me too. From your mouth straight to God's ears. The "never" word has gotten me in trouble. I swore up and down drunk one Friday night that I would never, ever, never, never land in a jump plane (I think I might have used a few more never's but no one was really counting). Ground winds picked up when I was on a load (I was still a student, and it was the last load before everyone went on wind hold) and I had to land with the plane. I had to addem my comment with a "voluntarily" and yes, I received my owed share of shit when I landed.
  5. Not at all. The first two times I believed the same way you do. Then reality set in. Maybe I'm more in tune with reality than you were the first two times you got married? But you have no history of any of my past relationships, you have no history of the relationships of those closest to me (from parents to grandparents to friends) and I thnk those sort of things play a big part in something like this. I know what the reality is, and if I never walk down the aisle because I don't have a relationship that I'm not sure it's not going to be forever, than that's okay.
  6. Wow you must be the FIRST person to have ever thought that Yep, the difference is that many people think that walking down the aisle=forever. For me forever=walking down the aisle, maybe. Bozo---bitter much?
  7. I'm 31 and in the same boat. My family tells me that I'm too picky. I'm not picky. Quite the opposite I think. I'd rather find the most imperfect person that's perfect for me than to find then most perfect person that's imperfect for me. I just have things that are important to me that I'm not willing to compromise on and if the day ever comes that I walk down the aisle, I can pretty much guarantee that's its going to be forever.
  8. Now, Bill, if you would have said, "I have to go buy an altimeter pillow that matches my sunglasses and frap hat" you might have entered the "Miles" hippy category and I might have laughed a little out loud!
  9. Don't feel that way. I was looking around for you to see if I could find it. Not on any of my channels but I found this http://www.comcast.net/sports/nhl/hockeylive/ BUT I think you have to be a comcast customer to get it. Good luck! At the very least you can probably check the score periodically. I went to that website and it states that due to blackout conditions, I can't watch it. How do I get around that?
  10. For your A license you need complete the proficency card, of which is a requirement of 25 skydives. Doesn't matter if your first jump(s) are tandems, S/L or AFF. Not sure if anyone told you but you don't have to do AFF to get your class A. There are other methods on which you can start to learn to skydive on your own. If you can complete your proficency card where 6 of your 25 are tandems, more power to ya! There is no requirement for freefall time to obtain your class A license. There is, however, freefall requirements to obtain your class A licences. It's hard to do and get signed off on freefall skills if you're not doing freefall by yourself.
  11. Thank you! I've been looking too. I want to watch the Ducks, at the very least, the get the Boogie man shit kicked out of them for their poor sportmanship during game 4. I would not be claiming to be a Ducks' fan right now. Just glad that May got a three game suspension, or his career would probably be over after the Boogie man got done with him. Damn...I just go and can't stop. I need to watch that game tonight!
  12. With nearly a million jumps and almost a hundreds years in the sport, one would think you'd know the answer and that a USPA national director would probably correct any wrong information on here.
  13. I should add that SDC only charged me for the hnp and Wissota will only charge you for what altitude you get out no matter what altitude the rest of the plane is exiting.
  14. I totally have to agree with this and give props to them for "accommodating me". A bunch of us from Wissota went to SDC over T-Give weekend. My first jump, I had a little issue with my ears. My second jump, I was in pain. I didn't have hearing in my left ear for at least three hours and it finally came back by the next morning. I wasn't going to jump, but thought maybe I'd give a hnp a try (actually a 10 sec delay from 4k'). First one went fine so I did another and no one said a word or portrayed any attitude about "swinging by jump run" at 4k' for me (and a big huge Thank You to Rook for "not giving me any extra altitude"). I even had someone gladly give me their goggles so I could vasperate if needed (which I couldn't do with my full face). At Wissota (a 182 only dz) we will always give a low pass if someone wants to do a hnp, but expect some shit if you're breaking up a hot 4 way, but it's all out of love
  15. Welcome! Why don't you fill out your profile so your local jumpers can look for you at the dropzone and give advice accordingly. How'd you get into the sport?
  16. I need serious help...but that's a whole 'nother issue!! What I'm wondering, can anyone help me "watch" the Wild (NHL) game on the internet???? I'm in the Twin Cities, it's only airing on FSN (Fox Sports Net) locally. I don't have cable or a dish (I prefer to spend my money on skydiving), but I've got high speed wireless internet. Is there anyway for me to watch the game on the internet???? Please, please, please help!!!!!!!!!

    Uh oh

WTF is the thing I just clickedon by the thread title?
  18. I got to jump off a 10 foot bridge with an old ratty harness on and open crappy canopy. I guess that's pretty realistic compared to the 3ft kiddie pool. And I didn't even have to pay for the gas to drive the bus two miles from the dz to do it!
  19. Yes, they count (in the US), but they have to be within a certain time frame. Not sure on the time frame (from when to when and how long in between. I'm sure someone will chime in). But yes, tandems and S/L count towards your A license in the US.
