  1. Thanks everyone! Glad to know that I might not have to go back for more extraction. I stopped running while working out as to not make things too terribly bad. And I iced for the first week and a half, but I'll be sure to ice and wrap before bed. The doc did do x-rays and nothing was broken, and it hasn't stopped me from skydiving (I'm kind of hard core). I did three jumps the weekend after and my first heli jump on Saturday. My biggest problem is that I was a hockey goalie so PLF's don't come naturally. First instinct is to go to my knees, and unfortunately in skydiving your first instincts can really "f" you over. I've been prepared to do a proper PLF on every jump but winds have been great for landings lately. Only problems have been that I have to leave from the student seat (on 182's) and be on the strut for exit because I couldn't kneel. I have learned soooo much from that jump. I've been over it in my head of what I did wrong and what I could have done differently. I've talked to people who were on that jump (total jump #'s on that four way was about 26,000) and people who saw it from the ground (two people, about 20,000 jumps). Thinking back to the jump itself, I know that I did everything almost right. Looking back on it, I have a ton of things that I would do differently now. I love this sport and I love learning something new every jump. I really hope that never changes.
  2. ...had fluid build up and extracted from their knee? I had a really shitty landing two weeks ago Saturday, and to make a long story short, I landed in a frozen plowed corn field. My toes hit the first ridge, then it was pretty much all knees hitting the next ridge. I didn't break anything had have no joint or muscle pain, but I had some fluid build up. The Dr. took over an ounce of fluid out of my knee today, counting the stuff that squirted out after he took the needle out before he got the cotton ball on there, and the stuff that squirted out when he took the cotton ball off to reach for the band aid. Before I went in, you could press on the outside of my knee and see the waves ripples from the fluid all the way to the inside of my knee. My questions is...granted I can't see the waves ripple anymore, it looks like there is still a little bit of fluid still in there. Is this bad? Should he have gotten all the fluid?
  3. Hey Erika!! Todd and I talked about going. We'll discuss more this weekend and let you know for sure next week! Hopefully the 8 degrees F ground temps we jumped in this weekend isn't a "warm up" for colder weather in the coming weeks! We should try to get Merriah and Kenzie to come and we can do an all PMS four way!! Later!

    New Homeowner

That's awesome! A big huge congrats! I bought my first home when I was 25 and my second when I was 28. Enjoy not having to pay real estate agent fees now 'cause it's painfull to dish it out when you sell. Although it sucks not have a landlord to call when shit happens, it's awesome knowing that when you write the check every month, you're paying yourself. Now my advice: If you're planning on doing any painting, try to do it before you have all the furniture in place. Easier to put everything in the middle of the room, paint and put it in place than it is to keep moving it. While you're moving in, make sure you have a tool box (full of tools of course), toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap and all purpose cleaner handy. Also, a box with some toiletries and towels (you won't want to search through every box trying to find a towel after you've been moving all day and just want to take a shower). Get to know your neighbors. You'll never know when you'll need someone to take in the mail, let the dog out occassionally, and it never hurts to have someone else watching out for your investment. Make the first move. Depending on who lived there before, you're moving into their neighborhood and they could a little sad that they lost some good neighbors and friends, and by you making the first move, they'll know that they again have good, friendly neighbors who will eventually become friends. Again CONGRATS!!!
  7. Me thinks you need a job like mine! http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2573829;#2573829
  8. Joe--please make sure you read that, reread that, and then read that again!!!
  9. yeah no worries on it being safe here is my info: I am a USPA TI and AFFI with 3000+ skydives, 2000 of those are tandems, and 850 of them just last season. I have seen a fair bit. In regards to the tandems out of a helicopter, I have had a passenger in the harness hooked up and in the aircraft with the seat belt through the main lift web of the sigma tandem rig. Yes, it is a snug fit but very doable. But were suppose to trust you with a username of "jumpnjoeCUTAWAY"???? Congrats on the AFFI rating btw.
  10. That's because I'm going to be there this year!!! ME=Life of the Party!!!
  11. Not liking the weather report though...20% chance of snow. The highs range from 18-24F (depending on the source) with a "realfeel" high of 1F. I will be doing my "snow, snow, go away, snow" dance until Saturday. Hopefully this will be like the other 95% of the weather reports and be wrong.
  12. Todd's organizing? He didn't tell me that. I'm very much looking forward to this weekend!!!!
  13. It's not the challenges of doing a tandem out of a helicopter that would scare me....it's who the TM is that would Just Kidding Joe! (Not really, but sort of, maybe) I've got several friends that want to do tandems, but I don't want their first experience to be in the middle of a Minnesota January. I jump all winter long and even I admit that's a little crazy. Hope to see/meet more of the Baldwin/Hutch/Waseca divers this Saturday!
  14. Anything that stops a woman from unbuttoning her pants is a bad idea
  15. Wow...suddenly feel inadequate as a woman... What?!? Cats don't have facial expressions. Or least I've never seen any whislt kicking them across the room. I understand this somewhat. But my take is, when you find a comfortable pair of shoes, you get it in brown and you get it in black and you're good to go! Really? When did that happen? The only valid one on the list! To help all the men on here understand better...you know at Thanksgiving when you've eaten and drinken your heart out and all you want to do is unbutton your pants and lay on the couch? Fat clothes allow women to over come that feeling without having to unbutton our pants. I understand this one because my SO feels the need to "beat his best time". I just usually roll my eyes behind his back after giving him a "good game". WTF? There is no difference. And I don't care who much you disagree with me...they're the same. If they were different they'd be in the rainbow! Hair will grow regardless. Maybe if we put a little more mayo in our hair, it would grow faster too I tried using these once. I also stuck my tongue to a frozen pole once (well, twice actually). Doesn't make it a good idea. Reality bites. There are some scales that are totally inaccurate (like the ones that state I'm 100lbs), but we need to accept the fact that sometimes the fat pants need to come out. I don't understand women sometimes. Sorry ladies. I try but somethings are way over my estrogen level.
  16. Prison. The MN max security prison is in Stillwater (technically Oak Park Heights). Otherwise the birthplace of Minnesota or where Jessica Lange lives.
  17. Kudos for Bauer! I have had the priviledge of being on 47 of those 13,400. A drop in the bucket for her, priceless and invaluable for me. We're proud of you Mary!
  18. I've got a small head too. Imagine my surprise when I bought my Factory Diver (from someone at my dz) and it was a medium. My nephews first hockey helmet was too big for me (he was 4 at the time). I too have noticed that smalls very rarely pop up in the classifieds. You'll (and I) just need to be patient for something to come up, and check the classifieds regularily and snatch it up when something does come available. Otherwise, if you want and can afford to go new, you should be able to order, and if it doesn't fit, return it to exchange for a different size. Or ask around at your dz to see if anyone has smaller sized helmets you could try on. A cheap alternative to tide you over would be to find a used old Pro-tec (any size). You can order any size liners for about $15 (at least at Square 1 they're $15. Good luck!
  19. Fixed it for ya! And we wouldn't be a third. The Shockers pretty much dismantled this year. Jeremy and I talked about a team, but we have a few things to work out. One is finding two other team mates that would want to be a little competative along with having fun. The second is that we have fall rate issues to work out. Jeremy is a floater. I'm a rock. My issue. Everyone else that we can think of are floaters so I'm afraid our competitiion videos will consist of an exit, then a nice three way with a nice view of me getting smaller and smaller. If we didn't have fall rate issues I would say we'd got A all the way. But rookie might be a nice way to get our feet in the door. Good news is that we have quite a few people that would be willing to work on and off with us to get us going, get better, and advance. Miles, Todd, Mary, etc. Thanks for your offer to help. Don't be surprised if you get an email with a video attachment in the future!!!!
  20. You have 25 jumps and you haven't done any RW yet???? Ouch...I'd find a new dropzone. Just because you're a student doesn't mean you can't do RW. I had several 4 ways in before I got my A license. If you mean, what's so great about jumping with other jumpers? Do a couple of group dives and then jump by yourself. It's boring as hell to jump by yourself. If you mean, what's so great about RW over those disciplines (like that crazy sit and head down crap). Nothing. To each his own. Do whatever you like to do. But you'll need to learn how to fly on your belly before you can start to fly vertical. I come from a big RW dz. I'd eventually like to be able to sit and dabble in a little head down, just to try it and say I can do it, but I'm in no hurry to get to the ground. This spring I'll start CReW. You'll understand better when you get done with your first 8 way that got 4 points from 10,000'. Major rush!!! Whatever you do...have fun!
  21. I tried to look on the website for the maximum requirements for each of the classes...I see nothing. Anyone know if there is a max. jump # you can have for rookie and class A? And if there are, what they are? Thanks!
