Sick the ACLU on us....
-
I can't speak for the mega-mall churches or the "TV preachers", but I work setting budgets for churches and they are not the money makers that many seem to believe. As far as allowing a gay marriage, not a chance. You may come and worship, but we would not recognize such a cerimony.

So do you as a parent have to teach a kid to do wrong, or do you have to teach them to do right? It seems that doing wrong comes naturally.
-
Traffic management and sequence into pattern. What a concept. I couldn't agree more.
-
I disagree. I believe I need to teach my kid right from wrong regardless of what is socially acceptable. These days many things that are socially acceptable are sin in my opinion.
-
I have my belief, but I was more curious of the atheists and agnostics thoughts on sin.
-
Thats a good question. I will have to think of a defintion for me.
-
There seems to be a fair amount of agnostics and atheists here and I was curious if they believe in such a thing as sin? I believe we are born into sin and I think it has been confirmed by my 1 1/2 old son. I did not have to teach him to throw fits and misbehaving. It seems I need to teach him to do the right thing.

Swoopers vs. Non-Swoopers in the Pattern
yjumpinoz replied to kkeenan's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Us old RW guys do fly smaller canopies and do HP landings. Not sure how organizing the load to wing loading would work. I agree that the separation is the issue, but IMO it is the flying not the exit that causes it. Maintain separation vertical and horizontal. -
Swoopers vs. Non-Swoopers in the Pattern
yjumpinoz replied to kkeenan's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
The last thirty seconds is when the mistake causes death. I have had plenty of fabric around me doing CRW up high. No big deal. Low big deal. Doing 270's at a boogie in the "normal" landing area probably is not a good idea. -
Swoopers vs. Non-Swoopers in the Pattern

I have complete respect for people who dedicate themselves to get as good as possible at any discipline. It just gets me that people behind and above me have that much control in my life. -

Swoopers vs. Non-Swoopers in the Pattern
yjumpinoz replied to kkeenan's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
So now we need an alternate landing area for straight in approaches, students, HP landings, accuracy, and people scared to get ran over? -
Swoopers vs. Non-Swoopers in the Pattern
yjumpinoz replied to kkeenan's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Another scenerio. If I am doing a conservative straight in approach, and have to slide over bit to avoid a jumper walking in and I get plowed by a swooper, is it my fault. I think not. -
Swoopers vs. Non-Swoopers in the Pattern
yjumpinoz replied to kkeenan's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
If that is the case, how does someone learn the basic skills it takes to avoid obstacles when landing out or how to save yourself when you screw up? Don't get me wrong, I like to do high performance landings, but I don't own the sky. I avoid them when doing big-ways. Common sense. -
Boise State will be carrying their balls home in a wheel barrow.

This situation is exactly why they should have a playoff system in place. Maybe 4-6 teams.... -
Swoopers vs. Non-Swoopers in the Pattern
yjumpinoz replied to kkeenan's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I agree that some drop zones layouts would discourage s-turns. I also did not mean that it is ok to set up real high and do wide sweeping turns. But IMO it is fine to kill some altitude with brakes and or slight s-turns after checking your traffic. If someone needs to swoop and they have traffic, then don't swoop or they can land out. Obviously people are not using common sense or they wouldn't be dead. -
Swoopers vs. Non-Swoopers in the Pattern
yjumpinoz replied to kkeenan's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I really don't think of the "large S-turns" as stupid. I think that if a newer jumper does not have the pattern flown correctly, they may need to s-turn to lose the altitude. Thats not stupid. I don't think that them being low and inexperienced gives anyone the right to use them as a pylon course to swoop through. I do agree that a consistent pattern makes it a lot easier to predict. There is a time and a place to swoop. Sometimes it's neither the time nor the place. -
Thanks all. Not sure when the transaction will happen. It is in negotiation.

I am stuck with a lot of stock in a company that is currently for sale. It is a large company and it is making money now. What happens to the stock when the company is sold? Typically does it go up or down? Should I bail now or hang in there?

Finally an answer to my question about Holiday. Thanks for your thoughtful response that didn't question the legitamacy of CHRISTmas. I just think its interesting that people jump right into Christmas when they don't even believe in it. If I didn't believe in it, I wouldn't participate even though it has become as commercial as it is.
-
I guess my intent was not to argue the legitimacy of Christmas, but to question why someone would celebrate something that they do not believe in.
-
It seems that the trend in getting rid of Christ from Christmas is to go to wishing people a Happy Holiday. But doesn't the word actually come from Holy day? I would sure hate to offend an agnostic or atheist by wishing them anything to do with a "religion". Maybe the ACLU could come up with something more generic.

Usually if you stink up the jump plane you become infamous...

Gotta go with Hughes. But like the Franklin fight, anything can happen.
