I will have to look at my jumps on this one, but it flies nice and still opens nice

Anyone have personal experience of jumps before new line set on a Cobalt. I really like the canopy, so I plan on getting a line set when needed instead of replacing it. Thanks.

Pilot bails out of new Cessna 162 in flat spin.

I personally know the pilot, and he is a very experienced test pilot. A lot of experimental/certification stall flights are done in very extreme CG loadings. -

I am not a world team member, but I would be careful about calling out "many" of them.... I do agree that these camps are very good though. -
How did the Houston area DZ's fare in the hurricane?

Ken is pretty good at getting his face bashed in

Had some really good skydives last year. Does anyone know if invites have went out yet? Hope not, because I haven't heard anything....HMMM

Kind of an update on my main parachute hunt, I did keep my handles found main and freebag but managed to get a pretty bad case of poison ivy. Unfortunately a friend of my got it too.
-
Me and a couple of guys found my main, but as we looked for my freebag some one told us that somebody brought it in a half hour ago. Not that I didn't appreciate the help, I would have liked to thank the person that found it.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of performing my emergency procedures. I was wondering what happened to the etiqutte of someone on the load landing by the canopy? I had some very helpful people assist in tracking it down. I am very thankful for the help, but I usually assist if it is safe by landing by the fellow jumpers canopy. What is the norm?

Check Velocity Sportswear's website. I have one of theirs and I am very happy with it... -
let's talk about going low, breakoff etc...
yjumpinoz replied to airdvr's topic in Safety and Training
The airplane exit orders and numbers can be a big factor. If you go low you are still part of your particular formation. If you bail and track off at 8,000' you can be traffic for other loads on that airplane. I believe that you become part of the first brake off if you are low. That means you stay with the formation. even if you are low. I hate tracking off when you know someone was low early and disappeared. For a four way dive its not that big a deal, but a 50+ way its a real big deal. My opinion anyway. -
The problem with arching for all your worth in a fairly large formation is that it makes it harder to keep your feet out to relieve tension. I used to use a vest, but I am sold on weight belts. I think of weights like trim in an airplane. They can make it easier to keep in the middle of your range. I am 145# and I have had to wear weight on the outside of 100+ ways and I have had to break out the shirt. It also depends a lot on the formation design. Long story short.....weight belts good.....Looking all floaty on the video bad.

I usually play center in an adult league, I wouldn't dream of getting in goal. I would imagine getting up would be a trick in itself.

Was that at Lex? Not my home DZ, but I did jump the twin Bo there a long time ago and the lay out sounds like that DZ.

I work at Beech (not on the Starship though) and I believe that one of the biggest issues of recalling them was the props. Composite specially made and the exhaust stacks blowing right on them would really tear them up. Manufacturers wanted to build quantites not specialties. We did learn quite a bit about composites that seems to be paying off.

Anyone watching the hockey game being played in Buffalo??
yjumpinoz replied to SkydiveStMarys's topic in The Bonfire
Good stuff. Its nice to see the pros misplaying pucks like the rest of us. Must be like pushing a snowball with a puck in it. -
I remember it as "hour" Douglas. Nice to see pics of Bird Machine. Was it the one that had a TV mounted on the rear bulkhead? That is what I remember. Thanks to all for the old pictures.

I have always thought that it was funny how "big way" is a relative word.
-
Don't really want to put it up here, but mine is Dillaldo. No comments.

Great skydives and a very safe one at that. I don't remember an event that I have been to that really no one to speak of was going low. What a base. I really enjoyed everything about Kaleidoscope this year.
-
Don't always need the weight, but this past weekend at Kaleidoscope I was wearing weight on the outside on 100-ways. I would say it was a brisk fall rate. I did carry my rig on but checked my weight belt. They did check my bag, but no big deal to me.
-
I always carry my rig on in a bag, but this time I had my weights in there as well. I am planning on checking them this time. I just wanted to check to see if that is what everyone does. THanks.

The last time I traveled the airlines with my gear, I forgot that I had my weight vest with me and it took some talking to get them to let me carry it on with me. I know that it looked suspicious. I am sure if I checked it they would get in the bag anyway. Anyone have experience with this or suggestions?
