  1. I agree that punishments rendered can be a huge discouragement to others if the punishment is severe enough. The problem is that the punishments we see today are not severe enough. If crime is decreasing as you say, it is probably not the threat of punishment,or stricter gun control that is causing the reduction. It could be something like better education and other opportunities that may be available to people to elevate themselves to better positions of financial security, instead of living in poverty. Other crimes like child abuse, pedophile behavior, rape, crimes of passion, ect,are much harder to find answers for since they are not financially motivated.
  2. >And thinking that your reserve will save your life if you have a mal is also living in denial. I know all to well that there is no guarantee that a reserve will save your life, because I've had a reserve tension knot spin me on my back from 2500ft to 300ft. How about you? Have you experienced the sickening feeling of looking over your shoulder at the ground spinning up at you because plan B was worse than plan A? I know that skydiving is extremely dangerous but still choose to do it anyway. Becoming the victim of crime is not something most people would seek to experience. I find it amusing that you would compare the two experiences as you did. We have far less control over violent criminals or the presence of law enforcement than we do over our parachutes, yet we are stuck with them. If the justice system convicts someone for hurting you,or killing you,how has it protected your safety?
  3. Laws, and courts are more about punishing unlawful behavior and collecting money than protecting people from violence. Thinking that the justice system will protect you from becoming victimized is living in denial as to how violent our world is.
  4. There are an alarming number of people who do not want to face the fact that there have been, and still are violent individuals, and many cultures that are inclined to be violent. Alot of people want so badly to believe that mankind has evolved away from of our animal urges, and that our big brains, and intelligence have eliminated the selfish and violent tendancies that all animals possess. Humans exhibit irrational behavior everywhere we look, for instance over eating, jealousy, ect. I love to skydive but,it is a very selfish and irrational act. When we skydive,we use alot of fossil fuel and,we risk serrious injury or death for no real good rational reason. The same is true of many aspects of modern life such as fast cars, fast motorcycles, substance use, ect. If you get right down to it,humans exhibit far worse behaviors than any other creatures, because we possess a high level of rationality, yet we choose to ignore it. Like I've said before, with our huge population, and large presence of poverty,I am surprised there is not far more violence.
  5. Lincoln was a bigot, and I believe he actually said something to the effect, that freed slaves should leave the US and go to south america, where he said they might be better received. The civil war was about economics, power, and control, just like most wars are.
  6. Why is it that you have to label someone as a worshiper of Reagan because they are against new gun control legislation? I am neither right wing conservative nor left wing liberal, but in the middle,as I'm sure many others are as well. I think hard line republicans, and hardline democrats are assholes who bicker back and forth, and get very little done in the best interest of the majority of the people. We have shit piles of laws pertaining to victimless crime(drug use, suicide, ect),shit piles of laws against crimes upon others and their property(rape, murder, theft, environmental destruction, ect) and these laws do very little to stop anything, but are toted as great accomplishments by their sponsors, and used as political feathers in the hat to further their own political agendas which seem to be less about helping the middle class and more about helping themselves(the elite). It seems to me that little has changed in the last 100 years. The only sure way to avoid a canopy collision is to skydive by yourself.
  7. Yeah,I learned to be wary ,just like you did. I'm still 6ft and 225-235lbs, depending on what time of year it is, but at 50 years old my reflexes are slower and I've lost some horsepower. Things hurt alot more than they used to as well. Aging sucks! I have always tried to avoid confrontations and now even more so try to stay out of situations and places where they are more likely to occur, and still I have found myself being caught in some tense situations in recent times. The poor elderly who live in rough areas have no chance against the violent young thugs seeking to victimize them, without defensive tools(guns) to project strength toward the predators who would otherwise view them as prey. Peace is achieved with the projection of strength to those who would make war on you. This has played true throughout history. I have always liked Teddy Roosevelts coined phrase"Speak softly, and carry a big stick".
  8. Right on dude! Thugs in groups or with weapons will always try to use their position of superior advantage to get what they want. Since high school I have always been big and athletic, and I have had a group of average sized guys wanting to kick the big guys ass and was only able to drop one before the other 4 got me down, and you know what happens next. I've also had an asshole try to carjack me at gun point, but changed his mind when they seen my gun pointing back. I've had crazy fucked up tweakers come at me with tire irons and then stop in there tracks because once again I produced my gun.Never had to fire a shot yet,and hopefully never will.
  9. Great, these politicians are always getting caught groping strangers in airport bathrooms and doing sketchy shit with weeners and cigars, and now the feds can enter your horse without a warrant. Where was PITA when this shit was going down?. Sorry,I could not help the pun on your typo. It was a typo right? You are so right dude. The feds sell a fearful public into giving up our rights so they can better protect us from evil outside threats, but who will protect us from them?
  10. Pierc has rights, but if he pisses off enough people and they boycot his show, and CNN as well, then maybe he will go somewhere else and be a smarmy twat there until they get sick of his crap. Hell in alot of countries they might drag his ass out and stomp a mudhole in it. He is lucky he is in the US where he is protected by our constitution, and where people do not riot over soccer(hockey is a brawl on ice to begin with so it does not count), and attack corrupt public officials, and public figures they don't like. But the US is such a violent place
  11. I agree,it is hard to see into a car in bright sunlight if the angle is not right.
  12. In some states even side windows can't have dark tint. Washington state is one of those states. I think it is more about the cops being able to see illegal activity in the car while they pull along side on the highway. If a violent criminal is hiding a gun ready to fire behind their leg or jacket, lack of tint is not going to be as much of an issue since they will most likely wait until the cop gets up to a side window,at which time the perp could bring the gun up and shoot through an open window or through the door itself for that matter and the officer would be unaware of the gun until the first shot, tint or no tint.
  13. I have never heard anyone use the word smarmy before. Now that I know what it means,it is very fitting for Pierc as he is a mouthy prick who would probably piss on himself if faced with a physical threat, which makes him a twat for sure. Smarmy twat! It is a good description. The only sure way to avoid a canopy collision is to skydive by yourself.
  14. >We have culture? Boy George and the culture club toured here didn't they?
  15. Why do alot of people in the UK refer to Pierc Morgan as a smarmy twat? What is a smarmy twat? Do they call him a smarmy twat because he was implicated in some kind of phone hacking scandal or something to do with murdock news corp? Inquiring minds want to know!
  16. The father of a man who was killed in the clackamas town mall shooting in oregon, was on the news tonight. He said that blaming a weapon for killing is like blaming a pencil for a misspelled word. He is against gun bans and feels they would only keep good people from having them, and would do nothing to keep them out of the hands of criminals.

    Door fear

    >If I didn't have blink & breathe tattooed on the insides of my eyelids,I'd be a corpse by now! I wonder if that would work for sleep apnea on a subconscious level?

    Door fear

I've had door fear when I was up to something I might get in trouble for and heard someone at the door.
  19. >Darkly tinted windows and glasspack mufflers come to mind I'm pretty sure dark window tint is legal in some states like nevada, and if it is not legal, they do not ticket you for it. I lived in vegas for over 4 years and had tint so dark you could not see inside. I recieved speeding tickets in this car and never once was the tint even mentioned by the officers. It seems if it were such a safety issue they would have said something eh? Glasspack mufflers are more of a loud noise nuisance law rather than safety. Hell, it would seem that loud exhaust would tend to make you more noticeable and therefore more safe if anything. Loud music in the car on the other hand is a safety issue because you might not hear emergency vehicles sirens,or someones car horn, but I have never known glasspacks to be so loud as to drown out a siren on any streetable car. But then the most I've ever pushed at the wheels is 425 HP and it was loud but not louder than the police siren.
  20. >As I am sure you are aware, people do not get the right to drive until they have taken (and passed) a test Driving is not a right. It is a privilege that is given to those who have earned it. I could be wrong, but even at the state level,I do not believe it is a constitutional right.
  21. How does your relative like all the cheese up there?
  22. Using small arms to battle a superior force using tanks, jets, ect, puts people at a huge disadvantage, but people are doing it as we speak. They use IED's and hit and run gorilla tactics and anything else they have to fight back. The vietnamese used booby traps and hit and run against the US and they won. They also had the support of other countries, but so did the colonist against the british. If a large population is well armed and enraged enough to fight back, they can inflict alot of damage on a military force that is using superior weapons. It has occurred many times prior to the introduction of the gun and since. This is why the first thing governments and rulers want to do is pacify and disarm the population.
  23. Very true,a big gun will not increase the size of your dick. It also will not give you big swinging balls and a dick if you do not already have them. I know some very hot mothers,or MILF's as some might say, who have guns that are far larger and more powerful than anything I own,and they shoot them very well. Since they are mothers,I would bet that they do not have big dicks or balls nor do they hope to grow them through using big guns.
