Why would a government want a list of gun ownership?
toolbox replied to toolbox's topic in Speakers Corner
The pre world war 2 german government had mandatory gun registration. The nazis used the registration list to knock on doors and take the guns. The next time they came they did not bother knocking. Governments know criminals possess illegal guns, and know registration will not stop criminals from having guns. So why is it that governments want to register guns and gun owners again? -

Columbine survivor to Obama:You're wrong on gun control
toolbox replied to toolbox's topic in Speakers Corner
I wonder if Obama will send the secret service out to get him on the right page of music. Oh,I should have said the left page of music, sorry. -
I agree that this guy's hypocrisy and deciet are huge. But you can't just point fingers to the right. For instance Jesse Jackson Jr( D),a champion of the people, for the people, just like good old dad. Jr just got busted for stealing,or basicly being a greedy self centered prick. Then you have Anthony Weiner(D),the weiner. Then on the right you have I believe Larry Craig(R),who was caught in the airport restroom awhile back, trying to proposition a cop for sex if I recall. The list of scanda, hypocrisy, and corruption is long on both sides. I do not like the hard left or the hard right. I like to feel I'm in the center with the other realist.

Columbine survivor to Obama:You're wrong on gun control
toolbox replied to toolbox's topic in Speakers Corner
Evan Todd who was wounded in the columbine school shooting sent an open letter to President Obama. He tells President Obama that his proposed laws on gun control are wrong, and will not do anything to protect innocent people, but would rather only hurt good law abiding citizens. -
If the apocalypse comes I hope you fare well. Just hope no one sits out over 200 yards and shoots you through a tree with a 30cal rifle. I like the idea of having a few types of firearms that each have a mission specific purpose. Hand gun for close quarters and fighting your way back to a rifle, or for use while working on reloading the rifle. Shot guns can be devastating and do not overpenetrate like a big rifle round. A 308 high capacity semi auto is good out to over 600 yards, they have a higher capacity and they shoot through light barriers pretty good as well. Hopefully neither of us will ever have to shoot someone. I've been able to deter two threats by simply showing them that I was armed without firing a shot (they were both armed as well). Most predators are ambush specialist, and do not want to attack prey that could put up a good fight and possibly hurt them.

>I thought that was the mantra all politicians were supposed to abide by. Sure seems that way. It's kind of like that bullshit unreality game show survivor, where deciet and popularity wins over actual survival skills

He should have just stuck to the old cigar game like ClintonClinton knew you can't get pregnant through the mouth,or from a good Havana honey in the hootchy goochy. I thought Clinton was ok, as far as politicians go,and could care less about his or any other politicians sexual exploits. That is between them and their families to worry about, though lying about it did not showcase good character. Politicians and other people in positions of power (cops for another example) tend to get caught with there pants down a lot,and always have. I agree it is hypocritical, but it seems hypocrisy runs deep on both left and right. I do not trust any of them to place our needs above their own.

Right! And even if you can only shoot them in the arm or leg,it's has to be better than threatening them with piss and vomit. A gunshot is going to be loud, and could draw some attention to the situation as well.

General thoughts on kids being able to do a Tandem
toolbox replied to promise5's topic in Tandem Skydiving
Most adults are very aware of what they are getting themselves into. But you have a good point in that fewer, and fewer do as the years go by,and it has taken on a carnival ride mentality, which has steadily increased the numbers of tandems done every year. Good for us TI's eh? -
>Better to have no gun at all than your own gun pressed against your head(or your child's head) while the rapist takes his time. You seem to have a dim view of a womans ability to operate a firearm. The woman in georgia who shot that home invader 5 times in the face while protecting her family seems to have faired quite well in that situation. You seem to think all thugs have super human cat like ninja moves and are almost 100% effective at disarming us mere common mortals. It's very likely that if someone tried to take my gun, that they would be getting it barrel first as I'm squeezing the trigger, and I'm sure most gun owners who know what they are doing would do the same, if someone were even able to get close enough to grab it. I would love to watch you try to sneak up on my girlfriend and try to disarm her. I'm sorry,I take it back. I would hate to see you get your ass ventilated.

I was in a 182 with my student and another TI and his student. At about 8K the other TI shit himself at which time his student who was sitting hot seat puked in the pilots lap. The pilot then puked onto the dash. The other TI was grinning like a mule eating briars through chicken wire at his crown achievement, as he had not yet noticed the puke fest that had ensued. My passenger said it smelled like the nursing home where she worked at which point I laughed so hard my sides hurt. It is in the top 10 funniest things I've ever seen.

The head is way to large on that stick figure.

#1 Shooting any gun blindly into the dark,as Biden recomends, is not only idiotic, but very irresponsible. #2 Although at close range a 12 gauge shot gun is indeed very formidable, and yes the sound of a pump action in the dark is enough to make any normal person shit themselves, even shooting some people is not a garauntee to stop them. In fact there are countless numbers of incidents where people have taken hits to the head and and chest with everything from 12 gauge shot gun blast to 22 long rifle rounds and everything between, and have continued to attack and in many cases have survived their wounds. 2 shots,3,4,ect,may not be enough for one threat let alone multiple threats.Shot guns also kick like mules and may be hard for a smaller person to handle. #3 If I had my choice of weapons to defend a home in the country from a group of thugs,I would go for a high capacity semi-auto rifle, preferably in 308 winchester. #4 Hand guns are good to carry for personal defense upon your body when out and about since they are smaller and easier to carry, and are easier to get to next to your bed in the night stand, but in a real serious confrontation while protecting a rural home, and facing multiple threats who are well armed,a hand gun would be something you would use until you could get to your rifle. Remember that some people live in rural texas border areas where it is common to have well armed criminals roaming about, just as example.

I've flown both, and the Icarus is far superior in every way.

I think a 45 to the chest would be a good start, but repeated rounds to the chest until the threat stops would be better advised, since shooting someone in the chest, even repeatedly is not garaunteed to stop determined attackers, but shooting would still be your best deterent. Urinating and vomiting might just turn some sick fuckers on even more, just like crying and pleading is not likely to help much either since it simply projects weakness. Remember, rape is usually more about violence and control than just sex.

Biden's remarks are even more idiotic than Bloomberg claiming that assault rifle rounds are more than capable of shooting down jumbo jets at 1 1/2 miles(2640 yards). Just shoot into the dark with your 12 gauge and scare them off .

Should background checks include identifying the mentally ill

sorry dude. I meant that reply for Kallend. I'm trying to drink coffee, deal with a cat making repeated savage attacks on my feet and lower legs, and make replies at the same time. I'm not chewing gum though,so I guess this is a piss poor excuse -

>walking and chewing gum at the same time is possible. It's possible for you to walk and chew gum at the same time? Have you tried to walk and chew gum at the same time? If not,how do you know you can for sure? I have personaly walked while chewing gum, rode both motorcycles and bicycles while chewing gum, drove cars and boats while chewing gum, done both AFF and Tandems and shot handcam while chewing gum. About the only things I do not do while chewing gum is eat food or talk. Let us know how walking and chewing gum works out for you if you try it, just because it's possible for you to walk and chew gum,it is not yet proven until you try and succeed. -

I can see your point, and I respect it. I feel for those with mental and emotional problems and actually know several people who have issues. I've seen bipolar people go from calm and rational to manic, batshit crazy in the flick of a switch. I would not want to be working next to someone who was prone to such changes in behavior and sure as hell do not think they should have firearms. The risk of hiding known severe mood swings, delusional and possible violent behavior is too great to the rest of society. -

Have you not read all my post? I believe mental illness should be reported and be screened for on background checks. I am no crazier than I think you are implying, than the rest of the skydivers who fling themselves at the ground for no good reason except to get their jollies, and I'm no more or less selfish than the rest either -

And were those 565 all killed by good law abiding citizens or rather criminals who will have illegal weapons no matter what laws are on the books. Guns, drugs, ect, are illegal in many countries that have by far harsher punishments for breaking the law,and they still have guns, drugs, and violence in these places. Outlawing guns will have the same effect as outlawing drugs,it will make criminals who sell guns richer, and put more illegal guns on the streets. Guns are not the problem in our country, the growing lack of morality is. I believe reporting mental illness is a huge factor in the background check process and would have most likely prevented many incidents. -

You once again convienently mention the 22 children killed by the evil mass murderer but failed to bring to light 1,825 children who die every year here in the US at the hands of their own parents. If you told the parents of any kids who were victims of mass murder that 22 dead kids is a small number compared to all the kids who die from child abuse,or serial killers, ect, they would get emotional and some would want to lash out at you,but it still does not change the facts that in a country with over 300 million people, where violent criminals and nut cases are set loose on society on a regular bases, because of an overcrowded prison system,22 is indeed a small number.
