  1. Sorry, can't speak to the sigs although every cop I've known who carries a sig swears by it. As for the kimbers, I've owned an Ultra Carry II stainless .45 and it was the best damned pistol I've ever owned. I've got largish hands and although it was good for concealed carry it did not feel too diminutive in my hands. capacity was 7+1. most accurate damned pistol I ever shot right out of the box. polishing and porting only improved it that much more. biggest regret of my life is selling that damned gun. good looking too. I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And...
  2. Like the common sense posts here. The Rem870 and Moss500 are great. I had a pistol grip 500 for years that was just scary as shit to look at. 7 rounds plus 1 plus a side saddle. My thing is, within what is prudent, please let us know how this all pans out and I hope it doesn't come to anyting!! I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And...
  3. Michael, I took a break from SC for a while so I'm not sure if 'tongue and cheek' is still allowed. Be of good cheer for the Messiah is returning...on Jan. 20th, not Dec. 25th. Hiya brother! It's very good to take long SC breaks. I take them regularly. It beats having to resort to antipsychotics. However, I can't quite get my cheer on for the coming Messiah... try as I might. Mind you, the man has his virtues and I do admire some things about him (not the least of which is the affection he lavishes on his family and his ability to speak the English language). I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And...
  4. My wife just forwarded this to me... To the tune of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" Get packin', Rod Blagojevich The state's in disarray The Tribune wants you unemployed At least by Christmas Day. The TV pundits want your head Could there be pay to play? Oh, tidings of comfort and joy Save Illinois! Oh, tidings of comfort and joy. Good riddance Rod Blagojevich Your Elvis look's inane, The Senate's mad, so's Lisa's dad. You drive us all insane. Our transit's broke, the state's a joke, The Tollway's one big pain. Oh, tidings of comfort and joy Save Illinois! Oh, tidings of comfort and joy. Good luck old Rod Blagojevich The feds have quite a place. Fitzgerald's poked his nose around And if he has a case, George Ryan's moving stuff around Creating extra space. Oh, tidings of comfort and joy Save Illinois! Oh, tidings of comfort and joy. 8. He can't deploy the Magic Tummy Beams of HopeChange® until he's sworn in. all kidding aside, i personally don't think his policies, which will raise taxes, won't help the economy at all. i hope i'm wrong but we'll see. I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And...
  9. I think the markets respond more to profits (reported and projected) being way down, foreclosures (still at absurdly high levels), unemployment (big increase last month and last week), rumors of bankruptcies, indecision by Paulson about will he or won't he do this or that with the bailout package... So am I the only one who thought there'd at least be a titter of positivity from the markets post election? It seems to be as volitile as ever! I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And...
  10. Admittedly, I'm no financial guru and I understand that there are a multitude of factors in play in the current economic situation in our country and around the world. That having been said, I thought there'd be a more positive response in the markets to Obama's election and frankly I'm surprised there hasn't been. What gives? Is it a more wait and see kinda situation? Are things just too far gone? Do the markets not see him as the one to usher in a period of greater economic stability and growth? Or do the markets still just have to flush out all the shit first? Again, as you can probably tell from my questions, my understanding of these issues leaves a lot to be desired. Somebody help a brothah out. m I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And...

  13. Guys, you realise that a lot of you (helped by JohnRich's editing) are misreading the story, right? Here's a paragraph that he snipped; The veracity of the report itself is in question as well. Palin herself denies that the Africa-as-a-country thing ever happened, NAFTA as well, and I'm inclined to believe her considing the relationship her state has w/ Canada and aid her state gives to at least one African country. Other McCain aids have refuted the claims of this report as well. It still bears repeating that b/c so many people have had it in for her from the beginning, they were willing to sink their teeth into a story like this, as absurd as it was. Interesting though that no one as yet has addressed my original post about the poison itself that has characterized so much of political conversation in these threads and this country... not too surprised though... I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And...
  14. Remember the original thread about Palin and the Africa is a country thread and NAFTA, etc? Something about the truth finally coming out about her? Ask yourselves, how many of you honestly believed what the vitriolic press was saying about her at the time? I bet more than a few. Now, honestly look at what the truth is today. But do predjudices change? Not so easily. "Well, I still don't think she's qualified to be VP, she just may not be AS STUPID as i originally thought." It's amazing the power of the media and the other party to taint and poison. How the press and the left (and, too much of society, which is lock-stepping behind the press) treated Palin, is so fucking despicable it turns my stomach. And this doesn't say a thing whether or not I even like the woman or think she would have had what it takes to be VP. I feel much the same way how Obama was treated for having the middle name Hussein. He didn't chose that name, for Chrissakes. On the flip side, Kallend and Billvon are correct as well: how the GOP treated Obama in ways are equally abhorant and tragic and condemnable. So a challenge: how many of you here have the character, the guts, the balls, the moral integrity to stop acting like the poison spewers that keep this country in such incredible tension and division? I'm seriously trying to do the same, b/c honestly, i'm so tired of it all. I grow so weary of seeing shit like "rePUBICans" and "America RIP". You may think your political ideologies are the right ones. And you may in fact BE right. But as long as you keep talking shit, like Sarah Palin is SO "trailer," you aren't nothing but a liability to your own ideology, your own party, your own beliefs. So... are you going to do it? I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And...

  17. Oh for Christ's sake people, it's a fucking ELECTION !! Your candidate lost, by a large margin. Get over it and go on living. I sure as hell had to 4 years ago, and especially 8 years ago. At least your guy didn't lose by one vote on the Supreme Court, by a judge appointed by the candidate's daddy. But you know what ? I'm not dead yet, and I didn't even leave the country. I even had some pretty good years and lots of great skydives, inspite of a Bush White House. This year it's MY turn to feel good about an election. You'll get your turn again, maybe not for eight years, maybe sooner. OUR country, yours and mine, is more resilient. WE will make it through thisw current godawful mess. So suck it up Buttercup, and go turn your flag back rightside up. Worth repeating.
  18. I wish that more of your compatriots in this forum could say that instead of the hatred, veiled racism and bile that I see here. From Sen McCain's consession speech: Thank you. I do see him as my president, as our president. I didn't vote for him and I disagree with many -most- of what he stands for. However, what he has accomplished is impressive and he has earned my respect. I no longer want to contribute to the corrosive public square, like so many others, that has torn down our country for so long with talk that belittles our public servants and members of their respective political parties. It does nothing to effect change in our country. We should all raise the tone. I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And...
  19. OK, then what is the point that you were making? just ponder it a while. I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And...
  20. keeping your values from others won't keep you from being a hypocrite. you telescope your values even when you don't vocalize them. and even if you didn't, you can't hide your values -and your inevitable comprimising of those values, try as you might- from yourself. I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And...
  21. And that right there is why this needs to go to the Supreme Court rather than being voted on by a population in which a majority of the people doesn't know the difference between consenting adults, children, animals, and inanimate objects. ... or sarcasm, or using exaggeration to make a point (that was obviously lost on you) yeah. turn it to scotus. they never fuck anything up. btw, that was sarcasm again. I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And...
  22. That's right up there with the BS that says we are born into sin. What a bunch of horse-puckey. Believe it if you want but I do not, JerryBaumchen You mean to tell me that you always, 100% of the time, consistenly act in accordance with your beliefs and your values. Always. You never waiver. Ever. Yeah. Right. I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And...

At last you're in a hotel. I'm sitting outside in the snow in Lewiston. Damn! Sorry to hear that! I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And...
  24. "That's why I can't have "faith". I refuse to be a hypocrite" everyone's a hypocrite in one way or another my friend, whether you are a man with religion or not. it's simply a matter of fighting to overcome one's hypocrisy and become a more integrated person. unfortunately you are correct. too many people of faith do not do that consistently. me included. I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And...
