Yes, assuming it is free and easy to obtain. Yes, assuming it is free and easy to obtain. - Dan G

Did you make the same demand of Bush, Jr.? - Dan G

Okay, I understand that, but we're still talking about profit, not gross revenue. I understand it sucks that more profit will be taken in the form of taxes. What I don't understand is why people are saying this will affect business decisions to hire. If you're making $250k+ in profit, and the rate goes from 30% to 35%, is that $12.5k difference going to change your decision to hire a new person? I'm assuming you're planning on hiring because you think that new hire will increase profit? I suppose it could affect the decision in some limited circumstances, but it doesn't seem to me like it should be a real driver of the decision to hire. I've never run my own business, but I'm sure it's tough as hell. On the other hand, if your business is established to the point that you are bringing home $250k+ in profit, it doesn't seem like your'e on the verge of failure just yet. - Dan G

Man, the spin machine is working this one hard. I predict they're going to use this one right up until November. I sometime listen to conservative talk radio on the way home from work (Mark Levin is usually on) and Levin was practically cumming on his mike he was so excited about spinning Obama's speech. He said that this election is for the very soul of America. It is nothing less than freedom vs. tyranny. Very dramatic. Very misguided, but dramatic nonetheless. - Dan G

Drug use is not a felony. Drug possession may be, although usually it is a misdemeanor unless you are in possession with intent to distribute. - Dan G

Can't watch streaming video at work. Can you tell me what it is, so I don't end up watching an Aerosmith video or something? - Dan G

Maybe, maybe not, but conflating the individual tax rate increase with a business tax increase is disingenous. - Dan G

Hey man, that's all Gov. Scott is trying to do in Florida. - Dan G

And I appreciate the reply. I disagree with your analysis, but I thank you for your input to the discussion. No, it doesn't. The proposal is to increase the individual rate for people making $250k+. If you're a business owner and you pay yourself over $250k, how is increasing your individual tax rate going to affect your decision to grow your business? It shouldn't. Most economists I've heard have said we really didn't have much choice. Obviously you disagree, and I respect that. Not really, but that's the talking point. I agree there will probably be some businesses that use the ACA as an excuse to provide less or no insurance, but once the BS litigation and Republican posturing settles down, we'll end up with a system that is (unfortunately) very similar to what we have already. Not sure what specifics you're talking about, but do you really think Wikileaks would have held off if McCain had been elected? Do you think the Pentagon changed their security policies because of Obama? The automatic cuts were agreed to by both parties. It is the fault of both parties in Congress that they are going to kick in. I knew at the time that both sides would fuck this up, but you really can't blame Obama for that bipartisan compromise andfailure to follow through. Well, by some metrics, we haven't had a new budget for 15 years. Again, do you really think that would be any different under a Republican President? My point: Obama is no different than any other politician. He make promises he can't keep, panders to his base, and in the end doesn't change anything. Why the right thinks he's such a danger to Mom and apple pie is truly beyond me. - Dan G

The only people tingling over "this" are people like you who would be against a cure for cancer if Obama were in favor of it. - Dan G

Nope, there are lots of people on this site that think for themselves and disagree with me. Of course, they tend to back up their opinions with cogent arguments and facts. Your insistance that Obama has said that no one can succeed without his government shows that you are not one of those people. And for God's sake, fix the period key on your keyboard. - Dan G
-
That would be disgusting. Of course he's never said anything like that. You're not against Obama, you're against the strawman Obama that Limbaugh, Huckabee, Hannity, and others have created in your mind. - Dan G

Well done. - Dan G

Good guess. Maybe I haven't been paying attention, but I didn't think the business tax rate had changed. Am I wrong? If you agree that less military is needed, why do you disagree with proposals to scale down the force? I agree that raising health costs for retirees is wrong, but adjusting pay for people who haven't even signed up yet is not breaking faith. I don't give a shit what Putin says. He was speaking to his domestic base, who want a tough leader and a return to Soviet power. He's not a credible witness. Security leaks happen under everyone's watch. Who is in the White House doesn't change that. I agree that Fast and Furious is very fucked up. I strongly disagree with how Obama has handled that whole affair. Not sure what your problem with how Obama has handled the Israeli situation is. Clearly, enough was not said. Besides business taxes (which I don't think have actually changed) what has he done to keep the economy down? - Dan G

I asked you before and you never responded, so I'll try again. Can you give some specific examples of what Obama has done or promised to do that you think are destroying business, the military, our standing in the world, etc.? - Dan G

The highest class I had to take was partial differential equations. - Dan G

I think it varies state to state. My best friend is a public school high school math teacher in Virginia. Besides requiring a Masters in Education, he had to take enought extra math classes (his undergrad was in economics) to basically get a math degree. He has taking stuff that I don't understand, and I'm an aerospace engineer. I'm sure there are ways to game the system, but he really doesn't need to understand non-Euclidean spaces to teach high school geometry. - Dan G

No, your lacking is your problem. Done here, good day. - Dan G

Ahh, so he didn't really say it, but you've decided (or it was decided for you) that's what he meant. Why did you insist on telling me to re-read the speech if you knew it wasn't in there? - Dan G
-
Can you point out a single sentence where he says that? - Dan G
-
You need to re-read his speech. That may be what you heard, but it is certainly not what he said. - Dan G

Why is that an incongruity? Do all anti-Obama people have to drive Suburbans? - Dan G

I support ID being free and easy to obtain if it is required for either. How about you? - Dan G

Then we're in agreement. That's not so hard. - Dan G
