Income tax is not the only federal tax. For the working poor, payroll taxes are quite significant. Those are federal taxes. Studies of the actual numbers show that most of the 47% who pay no federal income taxes are either too poor to pay anything, or still pay a substantial portion of their income in taxes, they just don't owe any income tax. The idea that 47% of the population is sitting around eating chips bought by the rest of us is not accurate. And yes, I have a job. - Dan G

The fact that Obama wants high gas prices is just a ridiculous conspracy theory. High gas prices may be one reason he could lose the election. Why on Earth would he want high gas prices? Besides, oil is a global commodity. The President has no control over the global price of oil. I must have missed this. What did I put in my tank this morning? No he's not. Taxes have not gone up. In fact, most of the stimulus was in the form of tax breaks. Which taxes do you think have gone up? Obama has taken absolutely no action regarding gun control. Yup, that's true. This is the right more than the left, from my viewpoint, but I very much doubt that Romney will be a uniter. Even though Gingrich claims otherwise, more people were added to the food stamp rolls under Bush than under Obama. The increase of welfare is a direct result of the recession. Nothing has changed regarding who manages your healthcare, you're just required to have health insurance. I don't believe that's true, but there's no way I could convince you. - Dan G

Racsim is not: Racism does not require action. The person who hates blacks for being black (not saying this is you) but still hires them because he is required to is still a racist. Racism is believing that one race is better than another. You have stated you think whites believe in hard work, while blacks are lazy (on average). That is a racist opinion. If one thing is better than another thing, it is superior. That's what superior means. It doesn't have to be superior in every way. If it is otherwise equal, but has one trait that is better, then it is superior. I'mnot sure how else to define the word. - Dan G

Um, the thread is about blacks in the GOP. And, by your very statements you admit to racist attitudes. I was very careful not to say you are a racist, but you hold at least one racist opinion. See below: Saying that blacks won't join the GOP because the GOP believes in hard work implies you think blacks, on average, don't believe in hard work as much as whites. That is logically equivalent to saying whites are better than blacks, assuming that believing in hard work is taken to be a good trait. - Dan G

I do think people should have to work for a living. I've never said otherwise, nor implied it. You, on the other hand, have just confirmed that you think blacks, on average, are lazy. That is a racist sentiment. It's pretty much the definition of racism. I think one of the reasons the GOP has trouble attracting blacks is because some of their members, like you, think that whites are inherently better.
