  1. Did you read the whole article? They obviously picked the most inflammatory statement to get their readers riled up, but what he was really saying is that America succeeds because we work together. Do you disagree? - Dan G
  2. You, sir, are clearly a gender traitor. The worst kind of traitor! - Dan G
  3. I beg to differ. Thinking is all that matters. As long as you're thinking about the children... - Dan G
  4. Really? I do. They generally were not screaming that denying the Mosque their space was a violation of the 1st Amendment. This case is clearly different. - Dan G
  5. I'm not a lawyer either, but in a true emergency you can land wherever you need to to ensure your safety. There is no criminal trespass for a forced landing in an emergency situation. On the other hand, the OP's DZ would be wise to take some of the steps outlined above, and maybe try a little harder to plan jumprun so landing there is less likely. - Dan G
  6. Can you be specific? Which policies are doing each of these things? If it's too much to ask you to explain everything, I'd especially like to hear about the higher taxes and weaker military. - Dan G
  7. I think Bill's implication was that when records are not available, the media and adverse pundits immediately imply that something bad is being hidden. Or they just ask a leading question ("what is he hiding?") and let the reader made the implication themselves. - Dan G
  8. I'm sure it appears that way to you and the Examiner, but it's pretty hard to nail down exactly what effects various policies may have had. There are simply too many variables to say that it was the Republican Governor's that caused the improvements. - Dan G

See livendives post above. My personal feelings have nothing to do with it. I always saw this as a tax. I may have even posted that opinion here, I don't remember. It is no different in my mind from the tax I pay every year for choosing not to have children. I am being taxed more than you because of my inaction vis-a-vis impregnating my wife. If you choose not to have health insurance, you will be taxed more than me. It's not different. You can play with the words all day, but social taxes are all the same. - Dan G
  10. Guess what, 99.99% of women knew they never had a chance with Anderson Cooper. Of the 0.01% of women who thought they had a chance, 99.99% of them were fooling themselves. You never had a chance of scoring the 0.000001% of women in the world that were so awesome they could make Anderson Cooper give up men. - Dan G
  11. Um, assuming you're straight, he was never competing against you. He's just made his lack of competition against you official. It kind of like you announcing that you're not competing in the US Open this year. You were never competing there in the first place. - Dan G

How do you see this tax as any different from the other hundreds of social engineering taxes that have been on the books for decades? Why do you think people see this new tax as more intrusive than any of the others? Is it because it was sold as "not a tax"? - Dan G

Sounds like a great idea to me. Why are they a tax benefit in the first place? - Dan G
  14. Of course Malkin doesn't represent the entire GOP. On the other hand, I expect you to voice your disapproval next time a conservative poster writes something like, "Liberals want to..." while citing a single opinion piece. It happens all the time, and you know it. - Dan G
  15. My Mom went to the Mayo clinic for some proceedures about 15-20 years ago. You wouldn't believe the number of Saudis there. There were multiple private jumbo jets at the airport, and many burka'ed ladies walking around town. The Saudis certainly do come to the US for healthcare (or at least they used to). - Dan G

That makes no sense. Are you sure you understood what they were reporting? Can you provide a link? - Dan G
  17. In all fairness, buying aircraft carriers IS putting money back into the economy. - Dan G
  18. I can't believe you take this bullshit at face value, without any reflection or critical thinking. You know what scares the crap out of me? The fact that there are millions of Americans just like you. - Dan G
  19. The media didn't call it "Obama's war" in a recent post on dropzone.com. You did. And it doesn't matter to the dead soldiers which man was in office when they died. They are still dead. They weren't fighting for Bush or Obama, they were fighting for their country. I agree that the media is not reporting on the war in Afghanistan like they should, but I'm not sure it's because Obama is in office. They report on what people want to hear about. Right now it's the economy, so that's all they talk about. Both sides are the same. Is Fox spending a lot of time on the war? No, they're spending most of their time reporting on the economy. It's not a left vs. right thing, it's a shitty reporting thing. BTW, NPR does quite a bit of reporting on Afghanistan. Their reports tend to be about the big picture, not just counting the dead, but they aren't ignoring the issue like some outlets. - Dan G
  20. No, it was America's war then, too. And you think Obama supporters are unpatriotic. Look in the mirror. - Dan G
