  1. Let's just punish Kevin Bacon for everything. Problem solved. - Dan G
  2. If my brain is not there, let me go. If my brain is there, I'll let you know what I want. Went through this recently with my Mom. Fortunately, she was able to make the ultimate decision for us. The important thing, was that we talked about it ahead of time. If you don't have a living will, get one. - Dan G
  3. I was involved in a bottled water drop (among other things) in Afghanistan. One of the pallets came apart on deployment. There were water bottles everywhere. Luckily, no one was hurt, but it was a hell of a mess. - Dan G
  4. I'm not going to explain what the % symbol means, look it up. - Dan G
  5. Well, that would be 0.08%, not 0.0008%. What was that about easy math? - Dan G
  6. So, former LRSD. I'm not doubting your military experience, but listing Army Ranger as your occupation is not accurate. I was a reserve leg officer, and never claim anything different. - Dan G
  7. Actually, Latinos can look very much like Pakistani/Afghans. My team sergeant in Afghanistan was of Mexican/Guatemalan descent. Even though he would wear a US uniform, and had on all US gear, the locals regularly came up to him and spoke Pashto. They thought he was my interpreter. - Dan G
  8. Because you are one of the worse stereotypers on this site when it comes to what "the left" is thinking. Duh. - Dan G
  9. You owe me a new irony meter. - Dan G
  10. Unless you're one of the 0.1%. - Dan G
  11. You've missed the point. If you were truly outraged by puppy/nun torture, you would have started such a thread yourself. The fact that you haven't really says something. - Dan G
  12. Guess that depends on your definition of "destroy". I, for one, think a total nuclear war would destroy the planet, for all intents and purposes. Would there still be a ball of mostly iron revolving around the sun at about 93 million miles out? Yes. In that sense, we'd have failed to destroy the planet. But it certainly would be destroyed regarding the capability to support most life forms as we know them. - Dan G
  13. Yes, in the exact same way you openly encourage torturing puppies and nuns. - Dan G
  14. To the OP: You may be able do a lot of that, but don't forget that you're not an Instructor. Working with your A license buddies on things like this is great, but please don't try to teach students. Also, your experience has a parallel on the other end of the experience scale. Near the end of my jumping career (I quit about 2 years ago) I had trouble finding people to jump with me. Most of my contemporaries were working, something I'd lost interest in, and most of the newbs were too shy to ask someone with my experience to jump with them. I actually got turned down by newer people because they didn't want to waste my jump money. It was weird. I ended up doing a lot of solo's, just like you. Someone up thread suggested asking manifest to do a call-out for you. I definitely recommend this. There may be people just like me hanging around the DZ looking for new friends to jump with. - Dan G
  15. That's priceless. I'm not that liberal at all. I actually align with what Wendy says about 99% of the time. Pro tip: Wendy's not that liberal either. On some issues, I'm probably pretty far to her right. You just can't see it because everyone who disagrees with you must be some hippie, bead wearing, love child. You really need to open your eyes to differing viewpoints. I'm done responding to you in this thread because it's pointless. Sorry to everyone else for wasting bandwidth wrestling with the proverbial pig. - Dan G
  16. Do you mean former Army Ranger? Is there a reserve Ranger Battalion I'm not aware of? - Dan G
  17. No, you really, really don't. - Dan G
  18. What part of sniping about dead voters was responsive to my comment about the objections to voter ID law implementation? And I never said that things had to be easy, I said that the ID should be easy to obtain. That means not requiring multiple trips to a remote office, multiple forms to be filled out, restrictive office hours, etc. Yes, that part should be easy. I have no idea what else you were attempting to communicate, as usual. - Dan G
  19. Did you even read my response? You need to get your jerky knee looked at. - Dan G
  20. I haven't seen anybody objecting to voters having to identify themselves. That's a right wing talking point. It's the methods of identification that garner objection. If the ID is free and easily obtainable, most people don't have a problem with it. - Dan G
  21. And of course all Catholics are Democrats... Face it, neither side has a monopoly on hypocrisy, although perhaps compartmentalization would be a better word. - Dan G
  22. Logic dictates that by the time the general election rolls around, the trees in Michigan will be just a little too tall. Disappointed Michigan voters will no doubt vote for Obama, thus throwing the election to him. I believe this analysis has about as much weight as anything else out there, so I'm going with it. - Dan G
  23. And if a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his ass when he hopped. - Dan G
  24. You were a GS-5 with an engineering degree and experience? I interened as a GS-5 during college. And my company is hiring like gangbusters right now. Not sure how long that'll last, but it's not all doom and gloom out there. - Dan G
