  3. As I said before. The biblical writer writes to HIS present generation. To do otherwise would make his words useless to HIS present generation. Plus it proved he was a prophet as it was fulfilled in HIS lifetime. Your dates will (has) proven YOU to be false prophet. Again, as I previously said, your complete concept that the KJV is the only version smacks of the narcissism that pervades Western Christianity. It amazes me to hear TV preachers speak of imbedded computer chips as fulfillment of prophecy that speaks of the "inability to buy bread without the mark of the beast", and CNN as the fulfillment of "every eye will behold Jesus second coming". It's like you think everyone in the world, including the people living Saharan villages and Central American rain forrest dwellings have cable TV and Walmart. steveOrino
  4. All my honeys, (well, almost all -- my son-in-law was in Iraq) but I've been especially fond of the one on my left for 34 years! steveOrino

  10. I use to edit non-linear, but switched over to a Panasonic linear I bought used for $200. I also bought a gadget that allowed me to use my computer screen as secondary video source so I can add high quality stills rather than using capturing stills from the video. steveOrino

  13. Chloe is a main character on 24. I watched the 2 hour show last night and she didn't die in it. I didn't watch the previews so unless she dies next week. I think our chain was being pulled. steveOrino
  14. Legs up and out. TM tells them either, slide, walk, or run depending on what he does at touchdown. steveOrino
  15. There are those who believe that are and quote certain texts to back up their belief. I'm more inclined to believe not. Does it matter? steveOrino
  16. But why let facts ruin a good story? steveOrino
  17. No problem. Good stuff. steveOrino
  18. Any sin makes you less than perfect to enter heaven -- if that same mark was used for spiritual leadership. then we would obviously be w/o spiritiual leadership. I guess I'm saying God's measure for heaven is different than his measure for leadership. Levels of sin? Well God has indicated some have worse consequences than others. steveOrino
  19. I seriously doubt anyone believes their pastors/priests are without sin, so we accept leadership from flawed people. Any flaw makes us imperfect, but imperfection in general should not keep us from leading. However, most congregations have higher expectations of their leaders, and there is scriptural references for that. That being said, each congregation has a worldview about the acceptability of certain sins. They allow for "some" sins, but will not tolerate others. In Haggards' church's spiritual worldview, sleeping with a gay prostitute and buying illegal drugs, are sins they will not tolerate. Simply being gay most likely is a sin they wouldn't tolerate. Then you have the Metropolitan Church out of Dallas. Their leader is openly gay as many of their members are. So obviously they tolerate, or even approve, of being gay. But I bet they would not tolerate their pastor taking meth. Bottom line -- We're all flawed. Some flaws call for removal of the pastor, some don't. steveOrino
  20. Perhaps. One thing I have learned during my studies ( I have a BS in Pastoral Ministries & Bible and MS in theology) is the more I learn about God, the more there seems to be I don't know. I have not figured it all out. I am the perenial student. With increased knowledge, God is becoming more complex. But maybe that is just me. I do have real issues with much of eschatology. Premillinialism implies that God did not speak to the early generations of Christians, only to this present one. I'm a firm believer that the biblical writer writes to his present generation. These truths have applications for everyone across cultures and time. To believe that John would write a letter to known churches in Asia Minor about facts that would only apply to churches (from a western culture) 2000 years or so later is the height of our narcissism that pervades our American Christian churches. steveOrino
  21. Actually what I remember observing about you is how you speak of others. You called Kris (someone who I would classify as one seeking) a "twit". That tells me all I need to know about you. steveOrino
  22. He was very charasmatic, but flawed, at least from his own theological worldview. His ability to speak, understand theology, and lead people obviously depended more on his charisma than his integrity. Look back at scripture in the NT and you will see the 12 disciples were able to preach, and heal. All of them! Not 11 of them, ALL of them, including Judas. What does that say? To me it says God works through imperfect people. Thank God because I don't know too many perfect people. While I think anyone who gave their life to Christ in his ministry is not in jeopardy of hell for Haggard's sins, they no doubt have been dealt a blow about Christian integrity and leadership. steveOrino
  23. What don't you get? JC saves, preachers and priest don't. Are you really saying yoiu cannot see what the problem is when a leader is hypocritical? Being a hypocrite would be okay if you are good speaker? Personally, I have a more "now" view of ministry. I believe in heaven and all, but I don't think I was saved simply for heaven. I think I was redeemed to do something now. If my walk doesn't match my talk, I lose my effectiveness in that regard. steveOrino
