  1. One of the two whippings I got from my dad (my mom busted me daily) was for "cussing". FYI. I used soap in my kids mouth. While I'm sure they have said a some bad things in their 26, 24, 23 & 21 years. I never heard it the second time. steveOrino
  2. Wouldn't you if people picked up your poop?
  3. Oops! I don't want to fly a camera right now. No, I'm just looking. Never heard that one before. steveOrino
  4. Then why provide the info about your helmet? in a few years any camera you buy NOW will be cheaper and possibly outdated. Technology moves fast and waits for no one. Then I must have misread your earlier post or not bothered to read all your posts, because this is what you said. i have 38 jumps and i want to buy a PD STILETTO 120. I don't have the money to buy one canopy and then to downsize to another...etc,so i need to buy one canopy to keep it at least 500+ jumps. I have jumped 280,250 PD,170 sabre 2 and i have the skills to fly a Stiletto 120.(I think) All my landings were perfect ...I don't want to argue with someone.!I just ask for your opinion.thats all.Anyway i will buy this canopy Yeah, I'm a GOD. Well, my wife and dog think so. Okay, my dog thinks so. Then again I'm picking up HIS poop. steveOrino

  11. Suggestions ... More jumps More jumps Canon Digital Rebel on Ebay More jumps More jumps Did I mention ... more jumps. For the life of me I cannot imagine a DZO letting someone with 38 jumps jump a video camera, let alone a still as well. but hey, that is just me. I just read some of your other post. You're the guy who wants to buy a 120 stilletto for his first canopy. I smell troll. steveOrino
  12. Could be something else, but sure sounds like a line dump. steveOrino
  13. Kevin, I started adding shades to the flesh tones. I hope to update the B&Ws with color now that I'm not doing them every day, but just every week. Glad you like the strip. steveOrino
  14. It is now illegal to protest within so many feet on a funeral in Oklahoma. I "think" it is 500 feet, but I'm not sure. As Texan, I can't believe I'm saying this ... "Way to go OK!" steveOrino

  16. The way it should be. One physical standard. steveOrino
  17. It was easy but then again it was 1977 for me and I was preparing to go to SF (which was a LOT harder) Slow runs Pull ups sit-ups walk a mile with gear (oooo) Sorry, I couldn't resist. The ladies were just starting to go Airborne in '77. They ran in a separate pack at a slower pace, and were not required to do the 8 pull ups after the run. Which I thought was bogus. If you don't have the upper body strength to do a pull up how would you pull slip on an old round? My son, who is in SF, thought Airboren School was pretty much a joke. But I'll let others who have been the more recent than me comment. steveOrino
  18. My opinion says around 1:20 -- definitely less than two minutes. Watch ours - in front of this video. http://www.xtreme-visuals.com/videos/x-tandem-small.wmv steveOrino
  19. Monday is here! Read the latest cartoon (now updated every Monday and Friday to make for a perfect long skydiving weekend) New caricatures will be posted on Wednesday. steveOrino
  20. I wouldn't consider that a rant, pat, just good info. I agree that people tend to over do the effects. I prefer straight cuts with one or two fades myself. The one thing I "notice" as being better in NLE than LE is the stills taken from a digital camera are way better than captured stills regardless whether you captured them with NLE or LEditing. That is one thing NLE can add that I guess LE can't. chrissay says she can edit NLE in 10 minutes with templates. I'm looking forward to her email with how she does that. One thing this poll did is illustrate to me that we need to get the videos out the same day - preferably soon after the jump. At least that seems to be the industry standard. As far as LE vs NLE I guess I'm enough of an artist I'd prefer the extra 10-15 minutes to get out what I perceive to be a better product via NLEditing. steveOrino
  21. Oh, one more. My mom told my dad I wouldn't be happy until I put an eye out with the new BB gun. I never put and eye out and I've nevver been truly happy, so I guess she was right. steveOrino
  22. Played more "pick up" ball games than organized ball. I did not receive a trophy because I showed up. I was in college before I earned a trophy for a championship. Never locked a door. invented more games (with washers) than Mattel drove the drag (cheap date when gas was 25 cents a gallon) No McDs or any fast foods in my small town besides Dairy Queen. Burger joints cooked them AFTER you ordered them. Worked for my dad's carpenters (I dug foundation ditches) for $1 an hour Football coaches thought it would make you tough to practice two-a-days with one water break (6 ounces) This was Texas and was 100+ degrees in August. If you failed -- you failed -- no passing through. If you got in trouble at school you got a whoopin' at home. my phone number was 5-2350 I could go on ... but, eh ... steveOrino
  23. Fur Rendevous was the festival (Spring is near) sort of like Mardi Gra with less beads and boobs ... more fur. I would make fur hats (fox, wolf and lynx) and sell them to the cheechackos for $300+ dollars. I'd make $1000 - 1500 in a week. steveOrino
  24. Fav memories. Climbing Flat Top Mountain in about 45 minutes with some youth and sledding down the snow chutes to the bottom in about 3-5 minutes. Startling Moose when I'd run on the bike trails late at night. It would scare the bejesus out of both of us. climbing some mt and fining fish fossels in the shale on the summit. 100s of bald eagles near Homer (or was it Seward??) Watching the Fur Rendevous dog sled races near my home. steveOrino
  25. I managed a picture frame shop and cartooned for magazines, before I became a youth minister It truly is a beautiful place. Being from Texas, I found it a little too cold for me. The warmest it ever was in Anchorage in the seven years I was there was 76 degrees. The winters in Anchorage are not bad. Anchorage is much like Seattle (where I lived also) The scenery is absolutely stunning! World class skiing is 40 minutes from Anchorage. If you love to fish (I don't) and hunt (it's okay if you can eat what you shoot) it is a sportsman 's paradise. I did enjoy running (Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon), skiing, hiking, and camping. I missed scubadiving (way too cold for me-- give me Cozumel any day!) skydiving (yes, I know they jump there -- but a very short season), and college and professional football. Hockey is king! (200 people showed up at a state football championship and 2000 people would show up for a typical HS hockey match between Service HS and Dimond HS). steveOrino
