I call BS! If we (USA) nuked the place and made it a nice sheet of glass in the name of war, you'd be crying foul or would you still say "suck it up?" steveOrino -
No, but I will -- I'll let you know how that works out -- thank! steveOrino

Oops, I can spell, but I can't type (generational thing as typing was for girls back in my day.) I meant I have the Diamond 0.3 steveOrino

I use the Diamond 0.3 on an HC 40 (25 mm thread) I like it because I can fly real close to tandems, but I don't like the fact you can't use a preset (like landscape) for focus. If you do it is blurry. The auto focus doesn't allow you video a landing tandem at altitude over 100 feet very well if you keep the camera on your head. If it is off center in the slightests it will lose its focus on the tandem under canopy. or am I missing something? PLUS: Great wide angle shots w/o vingetting (sp?) MINUS: Can't use preset focus on HC40 steveOrino

Usually not on a M-16, but two bayonets and a dozen people willing to die to take you as a live hostage usually gets the rsults they desired. steveOrino -

Okay, when I stepped down, would your assumption that they did not put up a fight be right? steveOrino -

Some how, I don't think challenging your lazy (your words) "assumption" is taking an overly defensive position. I think you may be a little defensive that I called you on it. -

Who is doing that???? If you knew they laid down their guns and surrendered, I'd agree with your questioning their behavior. But to assume or make "lazy" statements that infer they did nothing to save themselves from torture is a disgrace to their service and their families that grieves. steveOrino -

Changing your thread to make my replies mean other things is juvenile, but I'll consider the source. Now back to the discussion at hand. Why would you or your "combat" friends assume these guys surrendered or went down without a fight??? steveOrino -

When you ASS U ME, you make not only an ass of yourself but me too. These guys do not need some bleeding heart wondering why they weren't savvy enough to go down fighting as "they" would have done. Your lack of appreciation of what you infer as my name calling is noted, but you made the assumed statement, not me. BTW: Your "combat" friends have assumed too much too. They should have known better. I'll cut your civillian butt some slack. Shame on them! These men were soldiers who do not need their intelligence or courage questioned. JMHO, but I'm the "ugly american". steveOrino -

You are ASSUMING too much. Never 'been there" have you? There were three soldiers on the road check One was killed in the conflict. No doubt these two were emptying their weapons fighting the terrorists as the one who died on the scene did. Most likely what happened is they were simply over ran by the terrorists. I doubt if they surrendered or went willingly. My best bet is they took out all they could, but were simply out numbered by a group who did not want to kill them initially if possible. steveOrino -
Look at my still pics on my Xtreme-Visuals.com link (in my sig line) If you can use any of these just let me know and I will send high resolution to you. steveOrino

Thats what i love about americans, the whole world is supposed to love the american dream and bow down to the stars and stripes. these people probably didn't give a flying fuck about america before thier lives were ruined, now they despise the fact that you can live freely while their lives are in ruins. get my point sherlock? hatred is not built in it is formed by some sort of violence! and in this case unessecary violence in the name of greed. Quote When did the USA start the violence against radical Muslims? Are you telling me we threw the first punch? If so, when was that? BTW, as I said in my original post in this thread. I worry about what the world thinks of the USA about as much as the average Frencman worries about what I think of him .... nada! steveOrino

Right. So it just ends with not just you having sand in your face but both of you losing a few teeth, having a few broken bones and ribs, shedding a lot of blood... So as a country it would be better to be bullied and covered with sand? I don't think so. I was told by my parents, "Never start a fight, but you can defend yourself" steveOrino

When you look at the chart of "C"s did you look with both eyes? or did they cover one? steveOrino

Anyone here tell me what is entailed in Class 3 medical exam regarding vision? I have 20/20 in my right eye, but my left eye is probably 20/150. I had a blocked central retinal vein (idiopathic) a few years back. It doesn't impede me in anything. In fact I got my D and PRO after it happened. steveOrino

To lighten the atmosphere around here. Attached is a cartoon from a strip I did a few years back about two unlikely neighbors (think Odd ouple) who were running for governor. steveOrino

Dad has been gone since 1985 (he was only 60 and I was 30 when he died) I think he was the greatest example of making something out of nothing. He grew up the youngest of eight in coal mining country in KY. He never graduated HS. After Army in WW2 he got his GED and graduated college. He was a great architect and home builder. He was a man of integrity, who made my name synonomous with good quality and good character in a small town in TX. I miss you dad, today as much as yesterday. Until we meet again! steveOrino
