Newbie here. I do them and I got the pic to prove it!

Here is one from my youth pastor days in Alaska. It was 1986, I was 31. The 80s weren't so bad, but the 70s!!! steveOrino

Yep, good advice. The kid dropped his legs 15 feet off the ground. I saw his head drop too, and I knew he passed out. Obviously, I had never experienced that before. Instinctively, I kicked his legs forward as we landed. Preparing to slide, I even surprised myself when we stood up. In training, my evaulator, Terry Goode, kept reminding me, "This is NOT just another skydive!" He was right in so many ways!

I'm not sure, but he told me he gets car sick. I gave his dad a non-drowsy dramamine to give him if he wanted. I guess it wasn't enough. steveOrino

I took up my first "paying" students this weekend. I think I'll like throwing the drogue! Here is my second tandem. He passed out about 20 feet above the ground. I saw his feet drop and his head slump. I kicked his feet foward and prepared to slide, but I pulled out a stand up landing. steveOrino

I bet you're right PJ. He may not be 15, but he acts like it. (At least his responses sound that way --- nya, nya, nya, you don't know me ...yada, yada, yada) He may be a hot shot flyer, but he needs a LOT of maturing. I guess, I'll stop before I get drug down to that 15 year old mentality. Must go to DZ anyway, I have tandem jumps to do.

Where have all the July 4 demos gone?
steveorino replied to itllclear's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I dunno, but we made one in OK steveOrino -
Why are you responding to me? I said I thought it was unprofessional to unhook the lats w/o prior warning. The next poster said "you will do well young jedi.... " based on my response. Although your info is good, I'm not sure why you are addressing it to me???? steveOrino

Chile Relleno made quite an impression on us at SDA ... Chile Relleno on DZ Comic steveOrino

My "Obi Wan" (Terry Goode) is VERY professional when it comes to teaching whether it be AFF or Tandems.

TOTAL newb here, but I think that seems unprofessional to not warn them you're are loosening the side straps. steveOrino

You should be able to 'deinterlace" and get rid of those lines with Adobe Photo Shop on captured stills. (I can with Corel Photo paint.) I don't know if Windows Movie Maker allows you to do that Adobe Premiere does. steveOrino

I find it truly amazing that you can believe that JC never existed at all. Not that you don't believe that He is the Son of God, or anything about Christianity, but the fact He didn't exist. To believe that you'd have to believe that the Apostles, including Paul, Barnabos, Silas, Apollo and others didn't exist either. That someone so convinced first century people to follow the myth of a Jewish Rabbi, who taught He was the Son of God, that they would die for that belief. Try getting the average Jew to believe such "heresy". But no, you also think Gentiles would follow the myth of a Jewish peasant who was crucified as a criminal to their own death too. I suppose you believe Nero, Domician and other emperors never heard of Christians either. I guess the Christians being fed to the lions was another "myth" I must admit, you are proof that it takes as much faith to be an atheists as it does a Christian.

I'm very fortunate that my Evaluator, Terry Goode, places no compromises on tandem safety. I have been videoing him for 8 months prior to me taking the Tandem Cert course. It was like having 8 months of ground school. "This is NOT just another skydive!" Terry Goode steveOrino

Seeing how I'm the main videographer and 3rd TM, that shouyldn't be a problem. steveOrino

Actually you look like my drawings of Bill Clinton steveOrino

Okay, I just passed my tandem certification course. I work at a mid size Cessna DZ. Any advice for the newbie from you old pros? steveOrino

Like I told him - he has a face that has to be in comics! steveOrino

Always remember the 72 hour rule, no jumpy after divey for 72 hours.

Some of the best diving I ever did was in the underwater park by the Edmonds Ferry. Cousteau said it was one of the best man-made underwater parks in the world. I did all that wearing a 6 mil wetsuit. By the time I got it on, I was burning up. I learned in the Keys and thought the same thing until I tried it. steveOrino

I have an Advanced Open Water certification courtesy of US Army Special Forces, earned in 1978. I have dove the Keys, Seattle WA, Cancun & Cozumel. And I have jumped in all those places too. Just remember to allow 24 hours after you scuba before you skydive. steveOrino

Twas a pleasure to meet you. And you have to admit, you have a mug (with that long red beard) that deserves to be on a comic strip character. steveOrino

With your smooth talk and flattery, its had to believe you haven't convinced me to be an atheist yet. steveOrino
